Neels in Rocklands is located on the farm called Lorraine in the northern side of the Cederberg. The farm is situated 35 km, of which 31,5 km is tarred and 3,5 km is a dirt road in good condition, from Clanwilliam on the R364 only 5 km from Travellers Rest Farm Stall and the Sevilla Rock Art route. The route from Clanwilliam follows the Pakhuis Pass that has a beautiful view of the Hantam Berg. The owners stay on the property and are always available for any queries, however, guests have their own privacy.
The semi-detached unit comprises 2 bedrooms with private bathrooms which is booked separately or as a unit at a discounted price. During certain times of the year the studio space with a king-size bed is also available to guests.
Both Piet se Kamer and the Blou Kamer contains a double bed and a single bed and Piet se Kamer also has a 3 single bed option. Both rooms lead to the communal open-plan living and dining area with a fireplace that guests can also use as the indoor braai. Both rooms and the living area have air-conditioning. There is also a communal kitchen that is equipped with 2 fridge-freezers, a gas stove, electric oven as well as a dishwasher and washing machine. The kitchen offers a beautiful view of the mountains and a large farm dam. Outside is an undercover patio with braai facilities and an outdoor dining set. Free and fast WiFi and full DStv is available as well as MTN reception. Neels also has a garden with a variety of fruits and vegetables. As the garden starts producing guests are welcome to pluck fruits and vegetable, with limitations, for their own use.
Approximately 200 m from the homestead is a 6.5-hectare dam where there is a beautiful floating platform and a large flat-bottomed canoe for guests to use. There are also fishing rods that guests can use.
The establishment is on a working farm that offers guests the opportunity to witness a variety of farm activities. The Rocklands area is one of the top three destinations for bouldering in the world. In the climbing season, June till August, guests can see top mountain climbers from all over the world in action. From Neels there is a total of 64 km hiking/cycling trails that differ from being 1.6 km around the dam, and 21 km to the most secluded part of Lorraine. On these routes guests can indulge in the beautiful rock formations and untouched nature. With a bit of luck you might even see one of the two herds of eland. The Cederberg wilderness area with its beautiful rock formations and hiking trails is only 16 km from Neels. The area is also very central for flower-enthusiasts with famous areas such as Biedouw Valley, Niewoudsville and Knersvlakte that surround van Rhynsdorp.

A longer stay would be nice. I didn't notice that the cottage had more than one room for visitors. Thought we'd be on our own but we were only overnight so it didn't matter.

Was skeptical at first about the dirt road to the accommodation, but it was absolutely worth it and then not as bad as we thought it would be! Definitely recommended, quiet and peaceful environment with many hiking trails and we were very warmly received!

Best and neatest accommodation we have ever stayed in. Lafras and his wife are always available and helpful. Lovely fireplace and wood for cozy visits. Really enjoyed and will definitely stay there again and this time for longer.

The owners were very friendly to welcome us in their spacious, clean and neat accommodation. Interesting reading material, especially about the environment. Location excellent for exploring the northern Cederberg with hiking trails on the farm, which is also suitable for mountain biking.
Lafras and Maryke give a warm and friendly welcome. The cottage is full of interesting books about the area.
Visiting the farm was wonderful! The fresh air and starry nights refreshed my soul.
Two bedrooms with shower room are comfortably furnished and have access to homely living area with every possible comfort imaginable, including air conditioning and WiFi. The very interesting and wide music and book collections speak to the host and hostess's interests and travel experiences.
