76 guests' feedbackIncredible location - we had an overnight stop and due to the location we still had time to visit the hole despite arriving late afternoon (as it's literally just a few steps away). Walking through the museum after hours is a treat and really safe. We stayed in the Diggers Cottage (no 5) which was great for my parents who have some challenges with walking. The area was really quiet at night. The pillows were really thick, so if you are used to sleeping on feather pillows, I would recommend bringing your own. I will definitely be staying here again if I have the opportunity to visit Kimberley again.

A pleasant experience. I was impressed with the museums and we could leisurely walk through the streets and look at everything. The meal in the local restaurant was delicious and we could watch rugby with others until late. Thanks, would definitely recommend.

We had a lovely stay at New Rush. Room was nice and clean and spacious for 4 people. Only complaint is that we stayed in room 1 which is situated right by the security gate. Very noisy loud talking early in the mornings no time for that extra rest. Otherwise, the history of Kimberly being right on the doorstep was an amazing stay. Wi-Fi signal is not that great.

From arrival to departure, the cleanliness of Kimberley Gat and Craven Hotel was remarkable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The on-site restaurant makes delicious food and lastly there was the big Gat. Breathtaking.

The location of the hotel is unbeatable. The room is beautiful and very clean. The hotel is around the corner (literally 15 meters) from the Occidental Restaurant which serves delicious food and has a nice atmosphere. The big hole tour is a must and I highly recommend the hotel, restaurant and tour for those who want to experience the history of Kimberley. We enjoyed it very much.
One sleeps on the Great Hole site. You are part of the museum for the duration of your stay.
Just look at the stars. One of our best overnight bookings. Occidental bar/restaurant on site food was excellent and visiting the Big Hole was 10 steps from our Miner Cottage no 7. The house was immaculately clean and very well furnished. Will definitely stay there again.

Feel like you are in a small mining town! As if time stood still. We couldn't stop walking through the streets with all its old fashioned shops. It's also at the Groot Gat and we were able to visit there as well. Rooms were incredibly beautiful and so comfortable!
New Rush Guesthouse is beautiful. It takes you back to another time and place. So much history and so many beautiful places to see. Delicious restaurant on site and within Kimberley's Gat's grounds. It is definitely something very different and special.
Shoo, I didn't do my homework very well, but what we found there was a pleasant surprise. Beautiful, neat, clean room. The little old "town" was a big surprise. We went to see everything, did the "big hole" tour, bought souvenirs and ate at the restaurant. Everything was just pleasant. We were just looking for a place to stay on the way back from the Cape to Potchefstroom, but we got a big surprise when we landed there. Friendly staff and very helpful. Thank you very much.
I recommend the Craven Hotel to any family who wants to take their children to Kimberley. The room was clean, tidy and tasteful. The staff were friendly and helped us in Afrikaans. Kimberley was without water, but the Craven Hotel made sure we had water. Thank you very much for this experience.

The fact that the guesthouse is part of the Kimberley Big Hole Complex makes the stay a unique experience. My wife especially enjoyed it very much.
What a unique and wonderful experience. Like a little journey back in time. Accommodation was comfortable, clean and really lovely. My family enjoyed it so much. A must do with children.
We were the only occupants in the complex. Loadshedding first night which extended to a restaurant in the complex. Cups with square circumference at rim need to be replaced with round circumference because your mouth is not wide enough to avoid spillage when drinking and so you have to drink at the corners.
Although the accommodation was great, it was unfortunately not pleasant due to the few cockroaches that crawled over the bed. The location is also not ideal for rest, as there was a big party until late in the evening, as well as informal motorcycle rides outside the complex.
Very interesting tour and museum. Accommodation was very nice, clean and comfortable. Had a great meal at the restaurant. Friendly service.
We all really enjoyed sleeping over there, especially the children. To be able to try to relive everything from the old days is wonderful.

Stay inside the old mining town and experience the early 1900s. Picture beautiful and value for money.
You can't get much closer to the Big Hole, it was perfect for our overnight stay with limited time. Due to the water restrictions in Kimberley, water was provided in the rooms. The Occidental Bar is very convenient and has delicious food.

The lady from whom we got the key was very friendly and helpful. It was value for money and a pleasant experience. It's nice to sleep like this in the village where everything happens.

The location of the bathroom that all guests had to share was a little disappointing as photos of the place do not reflect the true situation. Otherwise an excellent overnight stay! Beautiful quaint village with lots of history and amazing things to see and learn. No need to drive anywhere as it's all right there.
It was really nice to be a guest at the New Rush Guesthouse: Craven Hotel which is in a museum at the "big hole".
The "family room" was a good resting place after a long day on the road, the next morning we could walk through the "old" Kimberley sink village and visit the "big hole" on foot.
We really enjoyed our stay in the Craven Hotel. Our only complaint is the smell emanating from the bidet in the bathroom, it was most unpleasant. There was no access to the internet.
Centrally located units which gave us access to the Kimberley area. Safe accommodation that gave us peace of mind. Will definitely use New Rush Guesthouse again in the future.

All that was not so nice was the fact that there was no water between 8 pm and 5 am. I was with the children at my wife's hospital until late and when we wanted to wash for the night's rest there was no water. I then later read in the letter that was given to us that one should take precautions for this but as I say it was already too late. Overall it was very nice and something completely new for us. Will go again for sure.

Friendly staff, the restaurant food was delicious.
The place was clean and tidy. There is a restaurant where you can eat. You don't have to leave the museum grounds for meals. The museum is well looked after. Security was visible at all times. The tour at the 'gat' was also very cute.

It was a novel experience to wander the street of old town (after hours) while staying in the beautifully renovated Craven Hotel on the premises of the Big Hole.
It was so interesting and the restaurant on site was fantastic and prices cheap.
It was a disappointment that the pool was empty and out of order.
There were a few minor issues like the pool being under repair, but this is a tough period and I'm sure that they will sort them out as soon as possible.
We were pleasantly surprised when we realized we were staying on Die Groot Gat's grounds as it was my family's first visit to Kimberley. The family rooms are large and look fit for royalty.
We stayed in Unit 1 which was closest to the street boundary, protected by a low vehicle gate, not completely secured from the street and surrounding vicinity.
Stunning rooms, spacious and luxurious. Friendly staff. Well located near attractions. Really enjoyed it.
Rooms were clean and tidy. The pool was refreshing in the hot weather. Entertainment at the restaurant was a plus. Will visit again if we travel through Kimberley.
