All units are equipped with a flat-screen TV with limited package DStv channels. Heaters, electric blankets, irons and toasters are available on request, free of charge.

Great service was provided overall.
The environment is very beautiful, we enjoyed it very much.

Short but very relaxing and peaceful, with a great view of the sunrise over the farmland.
Left over during our trip from the Cape to the Transvaal. Towels, linen and room were clean. Also used by contractors as accommodation. Everyone adheres to code of conduct. Gate guard, Emmanuel and Frank, very helpful.
It met the basic amenities. Unit no 10 could do with proper bathroom amenities. Only one bathroom for 12 people.
Accommodation was not bad. Had a bit of trouble with red ants. There are also no casserole pans for braai meat. No bowls. No steak knives. Only one roll of toilet paper for 4 guests. Other chalets only had half a roll.
It was clean enough, but not up to standard at all.
We had a nice stay.
We got there firstly had to drive through what resembled informal settlements to get there. The 'guard' at the gate smelled like he hasn't showered in a couple of days. When we got to the room, both my wife and I decided we won't stay here with our kids. The room had 4 flimsy-looking beds and a 2-seater pleather couch. So thanks, but no thanks.
First, you don't drive past a small settlement. This is an unsafe area that extends up to 2 km before you find the place. I specifically chose the place because it has a beautiful lawn and a climbing frame for my 2-year-old, but unfortunately the grass was infested with ants, so I had to ask for poison first just to be able to move around on the grass. The woman I spoke to was terribly incoherent and the voicemail she sent me sounded like I was bothering her. The place is old and neglected, and the kitchen is not fully equipped. I did not feel safe there at all. The price you pay is ridiculous for what you get. I would not recommend the place at all.
Very pleasant place. Very neat and helpful staff. Although he is located on the farm, he is only a few minutes from all the attractions. We will definitely check in here again if we are in the area again.
I would only recommend lightly during loadshedding, as well as an alternative power source for the WiFi during loadshedding. The gas stove was a bonus during the loadshedding. We stay there was very pleasant.

It is very comfortable, quiet and peaceful. Nice clean on arrival. Everything you need. Did not sweep or wash floors while we were there. There is also not enough toilet paper provided for the entire stay. They also didn't want to do our laundry, too many people and too busy, even though the place was empty. Was told we could arrange at extra cost.
The road from Kimberley is through an area that makes you feel a little unsafe, but on the farm it feels safe. Facilities very good and clean and tidy.
The reception at the gate was confusing. Only when we asked where do we go did the gate guard ask us to complete forms and provide the keys. Rooms are fine, only the room needs to be aired to remove the insecticide smell. Driving through the informal settlement was no issue. Note this settlement is not a squatter camp but a suburb with sink and brick houses. A poor residential area.
The route to and from the lodge goes through an informal settlement and was definitely not safe.
Too much flies, insects and ants, major problem. Toilet was not filling water properly. The braai area is on the wrong side. The stoop is directly in the sun. The build is wrong.
Spacious unit. Needs some attention, but sufficient for overnight stay. Only negative is that you have to drive through a location to get there and it made us feel unsafe.
I had booked two cottages. In one cottage, the aircon leaked and was not repaired after complaints. In the second cottage, the aircon was either too small for the room or the gas was depleted as it did not cool the room. After many requests, fans were provided but were not effective against the heat due to their small size. The floors were not swept and mopped daily as stated on the website. There was no water on our last day, and it was not rectified after many complaints. Just our cottages had no water. According to the security guard, the water tank fell over the week before, which could have been the reason for no water. A week before, and yet they allow guests to occupy the cottages with no water! The prepaid electricity ran out in one cottage, and we had to phone two people to have electricity loaded. The place is nice, but the service is terrible.
Gate guard friendly and helpful, however directs us to take dirt road to N12 which is private road with closed gate. No coffee in unit, only tea. Little table on porch dirty and sticky. Mattress too thin for box bed, feel the wooden edge when you sit on side of bed.
Location is hard to find, management is unhelpful when you call them to get the right directions. The road is unsafe and you drive through a township to get there. There is an open sewer hole covered with grass and cane branches into which my teenage son fell. The mattresses are paper thin and rock hard. The living area only seats 4 people even though there are 12 beds and the dining table on the veranda has 6 chairs. I would not recommend it at all.
We did not receive the accommodation that we initially booked and eventually had to settle for something way less satisfying, communication in this regard was very poor but because we were desperate we had to settle for other options they had to offer.
Voices, people. from across the road. A man walked past me - out of his way - but was not a resident. I travel often alone - stay in various places - this was not cool. A new microwave, but no dishes to use in it. Cold night, 1 thin blanket, none in the cupboard.
Definitely won't refer people there!
I am very disappointed. They changed my chalet to a cheaper chalet without discussing it with me. I booked 3 chalets together and then they put us in different chalets about a kilometer apart.
Weak, weak, weak. Dog droppings on grass, cutlery is odd, chipped, towels are old, thin and different colors, no stickers on sliding glass doors, ran into them, 2 plate stove is dirty and scratched, looks hideous. Curtains older than Noah. Room was not ready when we arrived. We could not use the very small 2-seater bench outside at all. It's loin lamb and the nails and screws stick out. The boards are so thin, they look like tomato boxes.
It was a nice place quiet and peaceful, the place was neat and clean, would go back again anytime.
GPS messed with us a bit, but with the help of the owner we got there safely. Great service!
This was one of my favorite stops on our travel with a wide variety of bird life in a tranquil setting where you can see the day to day running of an active farm. Would definitely recommend for the nature lovers.

The cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful. The only problem for us was that it is difficult to reach Newlands: because of the settlement one has to travel through.
It was very convenient for us who only wanted to sleep one night but didn't want to stay in a town/city. Nice quiet place and room was clean and tidy. All we saw was the gate guard who let us in and two other people who stayed in the unit next to us. Everything was quite acceptable.
We met and communicated on the phone with the most friendly helpful and accommodating staff. We were just looking for a bed, shower and self-catering place, and that's exactly what we enjoyed.

Leoni (host) was very nice and also arranged that we could go out very early in the morning. The area around the farm is less beautiful (location), but almost the whole Kimberley also looks like that.
Beautiful surroundings and peaceful. However, road through informal settlement is a problem but generally good.

This lodge has potential, herewith my issues. There was/is a fly problem, this caused major problems it was impossible to sit outside and enjoy the view or have dinner. The fly's caused major problems inside the unit as well. This is not good! Just because of this I would never recommend. 4 person chalet, but in unit 2, there was only 2 wine glasses and 2 coffee mugs. Overall the utensils are not in a good state. Plug difficult to get out. It is the small things that count. It is situated in an area I would not recommend. I was not comfortable driving that area. Because of its site it is difficult to get to food outlets. The picture of the chalets and dam do not coincide, reeds have overgrown the dam. The photograph created an expectation. Take a new photo of the chalets rather.
It is situated next to informal settlement. When we got there I booked lodges overlooking the dam that really do not exist. Our neighbour was a permanent resident washing his clothes in a bucket. In no 8 was a bunch of workers that live there too. We had no choice but to stay that evening, but got woken up at 4 am by loud singing and saw my neighbour cleaning his pot where the damn is meant to be. Oh and I had to buy electricity so we didn't sit in the dark. We paid for two night but left after one.
The basic cleanliness and finishing touches were missing upon our arrival at 13h50. Grill specifically had not been cleaned in years. Kitchen sparsely furnished for 3+ persons. House was dirty, definitely not cleaned and smelled of cigarette too. Flies are overwhelming and one air conditioner that cannot cool the rooms. Shower head was faulty and was fixed on request (by someone who was then smoking again in the house). The soap dish in the shower is on the waste of the wall and shows poor maintenance and neglect by management. Garbage heaps some distance from houses were lit in the afternoon which gave off unpleasant smoke and if we could, we would have packed up. The location and access to the resort is tragic and together with the above poor service will mean the end of the resort. All that was positive was the double bed that slept softly.
Would not recommend it to any person at all. Even after I immediately returned keys there was no refund, only excuses.
On arrival there were already residents on the premises who were drunk, noisy and playing very loud music. The other guests stayed all night and played their music until this morning when we were out at 9 o'clock, we as a family got no rest, no sleep, called the manager 8 times but no answer, also tried to contact the security 8 times but the phone was off. My children were badly bitten on their legs when I investigated and saw that the beds in their room were full of bed bugs. The guests who stayed next to us defecated themselves at our bedroom windows and against our vehicle, we have never experienced anything like this. Unfortunately, the manager has not contacted me at all to find out what my problem was. Poor service.

I just want to say a big thank you to Newlands Country Lodge. Our stay was really so nice, it was nice to look at the animals in the mornings with a cup of coffee before sunrise. Your place was beautifully clean and we had no problem. Thank you very much for being a part of our wonderful experience, I will truly recommend you.

We really had a lovey couple of days' stay. It was lovely sitting in the morning and evening watching the birds on the dam and squirrels playing on the grass. The place was peaceful and clean. The owners are very helpful. We had a problem on our last day getting out of Kimberley and they helped immediately to get us out.
Had a nice stay. Road through neighborhood on the way to lodge a bit neglected but not lodge's fault. Parking sufficient for caravan.

Not at dam as shown on ad, back side of junk yard, shower head broken, replaced but not quite right, kettle not right either. TV/Skottel does not pick up movie and Kyknet channels. Bad way to get there.
No contact by Marna whatsoever in the week we stayed at the lodge and was very obvious in her absence. Although the units were clean and neat on arrival, they were not serviced as advertised at all and neither were they swept out. Toilet paper was in very short supply and was not replenished and dustbins were not emptied on a daily basis. Sheets on the bed had cigarette burn holes. Kitchen pots and pans need desperate replacing, they are the cheapest of the cheap and are bent and buckled. Such a pity the units are not maintained daily as it is a lovely site and is quiet and peaceful. Excellent value for your Rands if they can be serviced daily, just a pity there is such a lack of participation/interest by the owners.
It's nice and quiet and nicely laid out.
On our arrival there was no hot water but after a phone call to the owner it was sorted after about an hour. The beds sleep well and the necessary kitchen utensils are there, but the overall feeling one gets is that the places inside have not been recently swept and dusted. Cobwebs were visible in some corners of the rooms. The lawns outside were also long and appeared unkempt.
Getting there and getting out again is not comfortable. The outside lights are very strong as they should be, but in the room the curtains are thin and the light from outside shines in.
Something different to what we are used to than the turmoil inside the town.
The location is a bit far from the main route i. e. N12.
I thought the people who complain about the flies are complaining for nothing, I live on the farm and know flies, or so I thought. The is next-level. Except for the flies the unit was acceptable, although it didn't look exactly like the pictures to me. The units on the page are a long way from the one we stayed in. You drive a long way through an informal settlement to get to the lodge, which doesn't exactly give you a sense of security. You can hear the settlement's activities all the time. The air conditioning did not work properly.
Location is not good. There was a mix up with bedding arrangements - requested 2 bedrooms, one with double bed and one with two single beds. On arrival there were two bedrooms with double bed. It took over an hour to get this rectified. Chalets were a far cry from that displayed on web site. Can't help feeling somewhat disappointed. Although we were looking for cheap accommodation, we have have had substantially better elsewhere for less money.
The place is small, but still gives the impression that it is new. We were a little disappointed in the fact that the place was full of flies. If I could suggest, the owners might have to look at moving the entrance to the premises to the lower gate. The reason for this is because the area you drive through creates a bad and unsafe feeling.
Enough space. Will not go there again.
People who come to urinate right against your bedroom and who are drunk and noisy until 3 in the morning.

Appropriate for a 1-night stay if en route or business in Kimberley, not a relaxing farm stay. The proximity of a large Kimberley informal settlement increases noise levels especially on weekends, especially if you book one of the apartments. The chalets/cottages are a bit further away and may be more peaceful.
Service was friendly from all the staff at the gate to the rooms. Received everything we asked for. Place was neat and clean. Will recommend it to friends and family.

Safety is always an issue and seeing that the units are on a farm one would expect to have perhaps an alarm or panic button available, otherwise a lovely stay.
Very strange location for a lodge because you have to drive through a township which is hardly recognised by Google Maps and it took us two hours before phoning the owner who kindly directed us to the actual place where we needed to be. The owner and the lady that assisted us did all in their power to make it a pleasurable stay, but all the flies that we had there was unbearable. You could not eat a single meal without 40 flies surrounding your plate at any one time. Also disappointed because the photographs on the web do not paint the updated picture of what you get when you arrive which is not a beautiful dam with water and greenery, but total drought-stricken grey brown and red sand with a great effort to create a grass patch to walk on. It is not very accessible and safely accessible to and from the lodge because you have to drive through township and that in itself is very high risk as we got lost in the township that evening trying to get to our destination. As I have said before by the owner and the lady assisting all efforts were made to make us comfortable and at any time when you needed help they were there to help you, but that does not cover up the fact that it's a very strange very uneasy location for a lodge where a family needs to drive and to what lengths you have to go to actually get there safely. The gentleman that was manning the entrance to the lodge, or should I say, the farm was polite and helpful and one could not fault him in any way whatsoever. My suggestion would be to try and make a safer route to that lodge, but definitely reconsider your visit there because of the influx or infestation of flies everyday. The screens that they had put in the house is still futile against the fight of these little pests that bother you. Should you decide to go through, make sure you are equipped with some sticky fly catchers and lots of Doom fly spray and a electronic bug shock catcher. With all the said, I would like to still thank the owner and the lady that helped us for assisting as best they can to make our stay as pleasurable as possible and I can say the one thing that does not lack is service, the service is very good. Thank you.
One has to travel through an informal settlement to get there - guests should be informed about this in advance. Due to an Eskom problem with a transformer there was no hot water available during our stay. There is also no backup plan in place for such contingencies, eg a generator. We were provided with dishes to bathe in with boiling water from the kettle. The DStv channels were blocked and watching TV was also out of the question.
Flies carry you away! Unit could have been cleaned better.
It was so nice to go with our dogs. Also a beautiful farm where they could just run around. It was definitely worth driving from Bloemfontein for this weekend!
The children wanted to swim. I personally would suggest a swimming pool. It's always nice to have a little swim, especially in the heat of the Northern Cape. Other than that it was very pleasant. We enjoyed it very much.
It was very peaceful in nature/farm creation, the children were outraged by the little foal and his mother.
The owner was very friendly and helpful and we really appreciated that she arranged meals for us and we didn't have to look for another place to eat after a long journey. I would definitely recommend Newlands Country Lodge.

We enjoyed it a lot at Newlands Country Lodge. They can also provide a freezer facility, which we needed for the extra fish we brough with. Place was neat, and met our expecations. I will recommend them anytime.
The road on the way there makes you believe that you're on the wrong road. The signboard outside also only reads Newlands Farm. It is confusing. Maybe they should put up a sign or tell people that the entrance is Newlands Farm 2. But we will stay there from now on, every time. It is an incredible place with everything you can possibly think of, and it's luxurious.
This accommodation is good value for money. You drive through a bad area for a while but the accommodation itself is very safe. Was perfect for us traveling with our dog. Would love to stay there again.

Little plade was well appointed and very neat. Bad location expecially if you need to find it after dark. There should be more signs so you know you are on the right way. Only reason I woulnd't recommend it is because of the location.
We had a great time with the horses neighing in the background and waking up with the cock crow. Unfortunately the road leading there isn't great - you to go through an informal part of the city. Also not the ideal road if you only get there after 19:00 at night. Communal DStv and TV mentioned. We were only able to get/see one channel, just 200 (SuperSport Blitz). Hanelie said there would be a kettle in the unit and she even sent us pictures of a kitchenette (with kettle), but there wasn't any kettle. We had to boil water on the small stove or in the microwave. Also no bin in the unit. Luckily we brought a black bag for our trash. The next morning after they cleaned the unit, they just put one new black bag in the kitchen. By the end of April the nights are quite cool in Kimberley. No extra towels for the beds. Luckily we had an extra blanket in the car. Very nice accommodation. Enough space in the unit and it was very clean and neat.
Neat, comfortable accommodation. But our expectations were a guest house on a farm with a view like on the website. Unfortunately we were not placed there. The road to the "farm" makes one wonder.
Was a shock driving through the informal settlement and then, not far from the neighbourhood is the farm. It's very neat with a friendly hostess and is worth the money. Unfortunately we didn't like the location and it was a shock driving through the slum to get to our accommodation. The house is 300 m from a train track and the people in the informal settlement's music is quite loud, so it's not a good place to relax. I would recommend it to contractors who've worked hard and just want to rest, but aren't on holiday. Unfortunately I won't recommend it to friends and acquaintances.
No linen change.
The sleeping arrangements were quite neat and you can see the place has been revamped recently. The only problem is that the double bed was worn out. The springs poked and prodded us so that we couldn't sleep past 01:00 and decided to get up and leave earlier than we had planned. We also couldn't reach the manager to ensure we use the correct gate. Maybe mention that the accommodation is on the outskirts of town and that you have to drive through a rough part of town to get there. Please check the mattresses!
The reception was by a security guard and we had to complete the froms. The unit was not prepared at all even though we arrived after 14:00. Reeked of smoke so we had to call the owner. We were moved to a different unit and we were able to move in at 15:00. The unit was well equipped, but the cutlery was dirty. Looks as though the manager just leaves the units to the cleaners. They advertise it as Newlands Country Lodge, but no one knows of such a place. It is 10 from the town and you have to contatly drive through informal settlements. When we asked around no one knew about the place and after phone calls to the owner we learned it was called Newlands Farm. The sign post indicates that it is private property, not a Country Lodge. We were two families who stayed there and the remaining 6 units were occupied by construction workers.
The units allocated to us were right next to long term contractors who were not considerate to the other guests and were noisy during the night until the wee hours of the morning (around 6:00). This facility is not for those looking for a peaceful vacation. The road to the accommodation is not for the faint hearted as it leads through an informal settlement, especially not if you're driving in the late afternoon. No signs to indicate their location and we passed their gate a few times. Took a while to teach the owner over the phone to ask for help. The units are cold with no heaters or aircon available. Not much bedding. Luckily we brought extra blankets. The showers in both units need attention. Tiles have old dirt and the whole bathroom is wet when you've finished showering. Only basic TV channels available, not ideal for someone who wants to relax in front of the TV after a long journey. Kettles also crusted with old dirt, so wasn't sure if they were safe to use. The photos online are misleading. Wouldn't recommend them at all. Other accommodation we used at cheaper rates offered more.
We were 4 adults. There were only 3 towels, but no shower mats. The drivers arrived. We told her that the key for the security gate was broken, and therefore could not lock the gate (it had not been locked when we got there). The braai strainer and braai area were full of pigeon droppings and unusable. She just said "sorry" but did nothing and drove off. There are no bedside lamps, no bins in the bedrooms/bathrooms. There are not enough cooking utensils and cutlery for 4 people, and only one double sofa for 4 people.
The bedding weren't clean and insufficient. One pillow case was torn. There were no plugs for the bed lamps. In comparison to other accommodation in the same price range, it wasn't up to standard and we won't book here again or recommend it. The photos are misleading.
At least 100 flies shared the unit with us. We had to buy poison. The double mattress in Unit 1 was uncomfortable we couldn't sleep on it. We had to wonder if the owner ever even tried it? Furthest away from the shops and you drive through an informal settlement to get there.
Not what is advertised. Location not good. Accommodation between stores and worker accommodation. Units not up to standard for the price. No fan or air vent in unit 15. Had to go and buy milk in the location to be able to drink coffee. No chairs to sit on porch. Horse manure all around the units on the grass. After a long journey, this is not how one wants to rest. Pillows as thin as half a phone book. Unit had been clean but not again for us.
Firstly, we would not have proceeded with the booking if we had been informed in advance that we had to travel through an informal neighborhood to get to the Lodge. Upon our arrival the key to our unit was looking for a call to the manager - she does not live on site - so she came to speak to the guard after we waited 20 minutes before finding the key. The reason - the lady cleaning the unit forgot to hand in the key at the gate. The first impressions of the housing units were a bit of a shock - in front of one housing unit, half the porch was packed with empty beer bottles. The first impression of our unit was that it was 'tired'. The pots and pans and cutlery were in terrible condition and we used our own utensils. There is a guard at the gate but the units are not secured with a security fence - given the surroundings we were not entirely at ease. We travel a lot and have no problem paying a premium for good standard accommodation. The Lodge will definitely not see us again.
The environment is anything but safe. Drive through very dirty area to get there. From a distance everything looks very beautiful, but the inside of the units are dirty. Full of dead flies. Microwave filthy. Shower head sprays over the shower door with the result that the whole bathroom is wet. Satellite TV not enabled. Patio dirty, can't braai there. Cutlery not enough for 4 guests as we discussed. 1 would have to eat and wait for cutlery once until someone else is done.
Newlands Country Lodge is a very neat place! Beautiful horses grazing on your front porch, chickens foraging with their chicks on the lawn. Wonderful place to come and rest from the hustle and bustle of the city. Thank you so much, it was a great experience!
I really love the place. It was set up for us and adapted to our number of guests. Hanelie went out of her way to make us feel at ease, I will definitely go there again!
All of the basics were there and we could see that an effort was made with the new chalets. It was just very hot and with only one fan in the unit, it got a bit much. Aircons or at least a working fan for every rooms is recommended. The horses stole my kids' hearts and it was a sweet bonus.
It is a very nice place. I know that it's relatively new places and that they are still busy equipping it, but there was a shortage of blankets. It is winter now and very cold next to the dam and there is only 1 duvet on each bed but no blankets. They also have to take a look at the kitchen equipment, there wasn't enough pots or pans and no casserole dishes for braai meat, there are also no salad bowls. The only things they have to pay attention to is the kitchenware and extra blankets. The chalet we were in only had 2 chairs in the sitting room, no chairs at the kitchen table so that you could sit and eat. There were also only 2 chairs, but the chalet caters for 4 people. It is winter now and too cold to sit outside. Other than that it was lovely and value for money.
I think the place is ideal for those of us wanting to get away from the city's noise and just recharge our batteries.
If you don't mind staying a few kilometers outside the city, this is the perfect accommodation. The unit is spacious and has everything you need.
Pleasant overnight stay. Everything required was supplied. Rooster gave us a wake-up call at 03:45. Otherwise quiet and safe. Will recommend.
Realize it's on a farm, but flies are a problem. Water supply installation does not fully meet the demand of use. Very difficult to regulate water temperature when showering and toilet ran constantly.

The place was not easy to find. It was dark no lights at all. They forgot that we had our daughter with us so she had to share a bed. Very sparsely furnished. Only 2 chairs to sit on for a unit that sleeps 4. Shower was not cleaned, kettle had lime scale on it. Could advise that there is no TV, when travelling with kids this does make a huge difference. Would not recommend it.
I have already written an email about our nasty experience. After we received a quote of R900 for the 2 units and we repaid the deposit of R450 as requested, I was contacted 2 days later by Hanelie to tell me she had made a mistake. But that she will keep it that way. Out of decency I offer to pay the difference and she says it's R250. I say to her, "so it's R125 per chalet" and she says yes. I arrange with my little brother and he says it's ok. When they arrive there, she informs them that they only have to pay R200. He pays it without receiving a receipt and asks her if she's dead sure, because he's sure there's more outstanding and she assures them that's all. She walks to her vehicle and comes back and says that she did make a mistake and that they still owe R650. He pays it to her and again does not receive a receipt. When we get there he shares what he paid and I say "there's a mistake". I call her and she says he only paid R650. We check everything and pick up his money in his wallet and his slips and see that he did pay R850. We call her again and she still says, "no, it was only R650". I leave it there. Our units were a mess. Our fridge was dirty. It was just flies. No towels. The boards are "chipped". The bedding stinks and there was no hot water in unit 7 on Sunday morning. We did take the shower head off in unit 7 because we have 2 2 year olds who can't shower and tried to wash them and just forgot to put it back. The air conditioner is something from another era. Didn't even turn it on because no one knows how the thing works and was too scared of it. After we filed a complaint, she replied that we left the lights on and took the one key, which we forgot to hand in. We asked her for an address to send it by express mail with no response. She also made it appear as if everything is our fault and that's the reason we don't receive any deposit back. So, it was not a good experience for us at all. Sorry.
