40 guests' feedbackWe had a great stay at Nick's Place. The room was spacious and the linen of the best. They were very accommodating with our dog. The restaurant's food was tasty and there was a wide selection of dishes. We will definitely spend the night there again on our way to Boknes.
Warm welcome, comfortable and warm rooms, great food.
Hosts were very friendly and helpful. It was nice to be able to order meals at the accommodation and not hunt around for somewhere to eat. The place had a warm home away from home feeling, which was a lovely way to end our holiday.

We were a group of two families and arrived in the midst of dreaded load shedding. The pizza oven was already fired up and the drinks (soft and adult) were on ice. The rooms are very comfortable and Ian and Fabrice are very welcoming (as were Phyliss, Marie-Lousie and Jasper, and new arrival Napoleon).
We overnighted in Smithfield and 'Nick's Place' was everything we could have possibly asked for. The accommodation is a rambling farmhouse decorated from a bygone era. It's homely and comfortable - from the large beds with crisp white linen, to the on-site restaurant (very convenient as there are not many eat-out places in Smithfield). There is wifi and a generator when there is load shedding. A full breakfast is included in your accommodation cost. Fabrice and Nick made us feel very welcome, even sharing gardening tips and a new kitten with us. 'Nick's Place' was an unexpected discovery that broke a long trip, and we would highly recommend you stay there. Made your heart feel warm.
What a gem in the Southern Free State. Ian and Fabrizio are experienced hosts and we had a wonderful evening in their company. Will definitely stay there again.
The only criticism is that the place was cold at this time of year.
A venue that is in need of serious TLC. Plaster falling of walls. Bed pillars broken off and never repaired. This is a dog-friendly venue. The disturbance of dogs playing at night in the house was there.
The rooms and units are beautiful and tidy. All the needs of a weary traveler are catered for. The garden is beautiful and lovely to relax while making pizzas in the pizza oven. Pet friendly.
The cottage is lovely. Our dogs were with us, fully enclosed, so perfect for them. Gorgeous garden. The hosts were very welcoming. Delicious pizza. And I have to say that the bed is the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. With lovely white linen.

Nick and Fabrice, our very talented and friendly hosts, went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and warm on that freezing cold July night. They were also great cooks and personally gave us an excellent dinner and breakfast in the attractive dining room. We loved that charming old house which is situated in a nice quiet area and in a large natural fenced garden. All rooms and even the corridors are tastefully furnished in keeping with the old world atmosphere and are well maintained. We also enjoyed making friends with their lovable and obedient pets. Lucky to be blessed with such a happy home. Thank you guys. We will be back.
After a day with grandchildren in the car it was a special place. We received a very friendly welcome, the dinner was tasty and a cozy visit with the hosts and local residents - our dogs were more than welcome (the enclosed garden was definitely a bonus for them), the beds were comfortable and the linen was crisp fresh and the place clean and tidy. We will definitely adjust our route to stay here in the future.

If you are an animal lover, this is the place for you, the dogs and cats are part of the decor. Beautiful, tastefully furnished rooms with the most beautiful antique furniture and friendly hosts.

Lovely, quiet and peaceful country place halfway to the coast. Nice food on the stoep.
Old house not miraculously fixed; impression of dusty and "its good enough". Room neat enough but the en-suite bathroom is a cubicle built of thin wood, door can close so-so, place smells musty as if water has been leaking for a long time. But bedding clean and tidy. We love dogs, but their place to sleep in one room with an old mattress on the floor? This is a basic place and lacks attention to presentation.
