The main house consists of 3 parts, the main house and 2 wings. The main house has 3 bedrooms and 2 and a half bathrooms. The 2 wings each have 2 bedrooms with a shared bathroom in the middle. 2 of the bedroom sin the main house have double-size beds with connecting bathrooms while 1 of the rooms has a sleeper couch. In the wings the one bedroom has a double-size bed and the other has 2 single beds. On the ground floor, there is a big open living area consisting of a lounge, dining room, kitchen, pantry and a guest toilet. The top floor has a large lounge and entertainment room with table tennis and darts. You can also walk out onto one of the 2 patios for a view of the bush.
There is also a nice swimming pool in the courtyard that extends to the lapa and boma. The lapa also has an inside braai and a bar for socializing if it rains. We also constructed a few feeding and water troughs to attract regular visitors like kudus, zebras and warthogs. There are a few coops for the elusive bush babies in the trees.
Marloth Park shares a border with the south-eastern part of the Kruger National Park and it's relatively close to the Crocodile Bridge and Malelane gates for day trips. The house is adjacent to a park area and is surrounded by lush foliage and trees. There are many species of birds and game in the area that come to greet you at the house from time to time.

41 guests' feedbackFantastic! The one word sums up Njala Lodge! New cleaning services have been brought in and you can run the place through the ringer! It's a big house with lots to do, from playing pool, table tennis to a swimming pool. There is also DSTV. The kitchen is very well equipped and there are 2 fridges with freezer sections and also a large box freezer. The main house has 3 bedrooms and the 2 wings allow enough privacy, while still being part of the main house. The lapa with braai and boma was a hit every day, where we could sit around the fire until late and kudus, nyalas, warthogs and zebras visited us here.
What a lovely place.
Yes, thank you. Comfortable for a large group.
Many problems with locks. No shredder basket upstairs. No towel rail or hooks in upstairs bathroom. No mirror in upstairs bathroom and only small hand mirror in upstairs bedroom. Also not accessible at all for old people, lots of stairs. Kitchen is well equipped and lapa and swimming pool a nice place to hang out!
Njala Lodge is ideal for large groups and everyone has their own privacy, but is not maintained! One of the rooms' shower drains was blocked and because it was the bathroom and rooms under water - we called and a very friendly lady sorted it out immediately the next day. We didn't have hot water to shower after one person showered or to wash dishes and had cold showers for 3 out of 4 days. Something tripped the power and we didn't know that the power tripped because it tripped outside by the pole, we were without power all day the first day because we thought the whole neighborhood was down only to see in the evening that the neighbor did have power and he came to show us where to turn it on, after that the power tripped at least 3 to 4 times a day. We have no idea what it could be because we weren't wearing anything at the time it tripped. Refrigerators didn't get cold either. I would also recommend putting screen wire in front of window we couldn't open windows during the day or night because there is nothing in front of windows to stop mosquitoes or monkeys or any unwanted guests. Because nothing can open the place smelled and felt stuffy. The grill was dirty and the pool definitely lacked chlorine. If the little things are sorted out, especially the power and hot water, Njala Lodge can be a lovely place for large families or friends.
We were a large group of people and there was enough room for everyone.
It is ideal for a group of friends or family who want to hang out together but still want some privacy. Very spacious and clean.
The house is nice and big and spacious, but all of us were full of bite marks! The aircons were a disappointment. I was not aware of the fact that it was not part of the accommodation. If I had known that, I would have considered another place! The water from the showers didn't run out and the shower upstairs didn't even have a shower head!
The furniture and carpets were not very clean. There must definitely still be fans or aircons.
We had an amazing time and will recommend Njala Lodge to all of our friends. We will be going back as soon as we can.
I would suggest that they include a cleaning service in the price. It's not a terribly nice ending if you have to clean everything before you have to be out by 10:00. This therefore means that one loses half of the Sunday. We go to Marloth regularly and understand that most places work this way. I would rather pay R250 more with love.
Thank you very much for a wonderful visit. Everything we needed was there. House is beautiful and kitchen has everything one needs. I just think they might need to update the furniture a bit. Service was great, had no problem with the deposit refund. The owner and the caretaker were friendly and helpful. Will definitely go again.
The house is very beautiful, the animals came to visit every day! Will definitely go back again.
It was great. The house was big enough with enough sleeping space for 14 people. Everything is nice and spacious with everything you need. We spent a lot of time around the fire and socializing. And every now and then the zebras and the kudus etc surprise. you to come and eat something. We were able to get them out of hand. Don't even need to go to Kruger National Park. We heard lions roar. Was a fantastic long weekend.
Remember your towels. There are too few aircons. Haven't paid a key deposit in a while.
I would recommend that the air conditioning in the Lion room be checked. It goes on for no reason. We put it on the wall.
The house is perfect for many people, many bathrooms, but the contents are neglected, the carpets stink, the creepy in pool is broken, pool was green, and also more of a splash pool, very small. Only two rooms have aircon, the heat didn't bother us much, because we had nice weather, it wasn't very hot. But the upstairs lounge area was still hot, so lacks an aircon. If they want to ask for a key deposit, I would say someone should go through the house together, how do you determine what was broken versus what is broken now? We also sat without water for a full day and night, there is a yojo tank but is empty, would suggest they look into this, caused great inconvenience. Overall, the weekend was very nice, except for the above. The animals came to the house. The house is also very private.
Outline very good. Plenty of space and privacy. Loose chairs and a table in the lapa would have been more convenient. Too hot in the upper recreation area, could not use it, an air conditioner there is a must. Lovely pool and well equipped kitchen. Refrigerators and freezers could not win the battle against the heat. Still, would recommend it.
On arrival we paid R500 deposit which will be refunded after 48 hours if nothing is broken but no receipt received. Asked lady for receipt, but apparently they do not give receipts so no proof that money was paid. They must please inform guests to bring their own towels.
Great place. Would recommend any day to anyone.
Kitchen glasses should be looked at, there are not 14 drinking glasses and had to use wine and whisky glasses to make up for that. Bedroom upstairs with bunk bed is tiny, does not have power or a fan and very hot and cramped. Bed in the corner in playroom the mattress springs are gone and it is uncomfortable to sleep on. None of the fans have adaptors to accommodate the two pin plugs, the guests should be told to bring your own adaptors. Main bedroom downstairs in main house has a problem with the bedroom door. Think the owner needs to address these issues as the place will become run down which is unfortunate.
Had a great time in Marloth and Njala Lodge! Each group has its own privacy and bathrooms are more than enough. Would definitely recommend the Njala Lodge.
Beautiful place and we had a great time.
Dirty place with broken furniture. Bats' mess and noise. Totally unacceptable.
Really enjoyed it. All the facilities were available and in good working condition. Enjoyed the animals, especially the zebras and kudus. The house is really safe and well equipped. We were 9 people and enjoyed the space a lot.
It just needs air-cons, terribly hot in the summer.
The house was nice and spacious and we really enjoyed the animals that came to eat nearby. Some of the beds were quite uncomfortable. The small bedroom upstairs was very cramped, the bed uncomfortable and not firm. The upstairs bathroom has no towel rails, no shelves for toiletries and no mirror either, which made it uncomfortable. Otherwise we really enjoyed the games room, pool and space. Overall good stay
We had a nice stay at Njala Lodge, but it is very basic. It was a pity that there were no towels, we had expected one towel for each person. Upstairs it was very very hot, aircon would be better in Febuary/March. The swimming pool was very welcome.
Njala Lodge is ideal accommodation for a group of 12 people. We were never in one another's way with the necessary bathroom facilities and really everything you need. The animals siad hello, it was amazing. We will definitely visit Njala Lodge again. Good value for money. Thanks Johan!
It's a wonderful house. We had quality time as a family of 14 for the weekend with many animals and we had a great time relaxing. We did miss air conditioning in the rooms. Will definitely go to Njala Lodge again. Thank you very much.
A fantastic time. The owner put a lot of effort into feeding troughs that attracted regular animal visitors. The house is ideal for a large group of people. All inquiries to the owner were answered promptly and satisfactorily.
A wonderful family holiday at the beautiful Njala Lodge with wildlife and nature right on your doorstep.
It was so peaceful and relaxing. Will definitely come again.
It is a lovely house that is spacious and has everything you need. The animals that come to visit every now and then made it a perfect getaway.
The house is ideal for a group of people or a large family.
Njala Lodge is really in a nice environment, tidy and we really enjoyed our stay there. We would like to visit there together again.
I would go again anytime. Lovely house and location. I can recommend it to anyone who wants to go. We were 12 people and had a great stay. Quiet, clean and peaceful. There is a lot of wildlife roaming around. Children enjoyed it.
We have stayed at several houses in Marloth for the weekend, but this one is definitely the best. It meets the highest standards. Beautifully located in the woods and we were visited by quite a lot of animals. The owners really put a lot of effort into houses for the night monkeys and a place to feed the animals. Overall really the best value for money and we will definitely want to visit many more times.
