Accommodation comprises of 6 cottages, with an indoor braai facility, open-plan kitchen, lounge and dining room. The cottages are fully equipped with everything you will need in a kitchen. Bedding and towels will be provided unless otherwise arranged.
Please note this is a farm with chickens, geese, sheep, cows, and more. The animals are all around, and they may make noise in the morning, especially the roosters.
The property makes use of mountain water and supply from the well-known Korentepoort dam Scheme. The water has a brown colour but it is very healthy to drink and has no chemicals added to it. Be aware of the brown colour as it is caused by the tree roots.
Riversdale is a flourishing country town located along the National Road (N2) linking Cape Town - 300 Km to the west and Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) - 470 Km to the east. Riversdale's ideal location gives it the advantage of being a short traveling distance to seaside towns such as Still Bay, Gouritsmond and Witsand and is also an excellent base for one-day trips to explore the variety of natural beauty, interesting places, charming 19th century restored houses, breathtaking hiking, hang gliding, fishing and water sports, 4 x 4 trails, and abseiling alongside waterfalls.
Riversdale, Home of the Sleeping Beauty mountain peak - a well known landmark which never fails to capture the imagination - has earned its name of the Floral Paradise of the Garden Route because of the abundance of indigenous flora - referred to as Fynbos - which covers the mountains and surrounding areas. This floral rainbow is in full bloom throughout the winter months.
With farming being the main industry, activities include wheat and grain, fruit, cattle and dairy farming, sheep, ostriches, export flower farms and honeybush tea production.
Safety - the utmost priority is afforded to safety and security in this crime-free environment. A proficient and caring police force and a number of security companies, as well as neighbourhood watch patrols, exist.
Medical practitioners and paramedics service, operating from the local hospital, are available. Riversdal is a malaria-free zone.
George Airport is 120 kilometres away but Riversdale has its own airfield. The town has an all-year-round moderate climate with rainfall throughout the year.

39 guests' feedbackOakdale Cottages is a lovely peaceful overnight stay that I would definitely recommend!
We were very comfortable, and everything we needed was there. We would definitely stay again. The kids enjoyed the animals which wandered around the yard outside the cottage.
Satisfactory. There were a number of things that could be improved on. . 1) The room that i slept in had alot of dust on the head board. The bed sheet felt like they need to a good shake up/ freshen up. . 2) Although this is not an expectation, but at many establishments small things like rusks for coffee and a small jug of fresh milk does go a long way in adding a bit of value added service. 3 ) Cleaning fee. This is 100% my fault for not reading all the finer details, but it came as a suprise that I had to pay a R350 cleaning fee. Staying for one night where the cleaning fee is almost half the amount for a one nights stay, is not financially viable. So i would have cancelled, but then would have lost the entire refund. Work the cleaning fee into the price quoted!. 4) Instructions on how to operate the stove.
We were disappointed with the accommodation. Things were not as clean as other places even though there is a R350 cleaning charge. The tap water was dark brown. The cockerels crowed from 3.30 am.
Does not comply with advertisement. Booked specifically for bathroom with bath (house 2) and there was only a shower. Lighting is also not sufficient. Why not increase the fee and scrap the cleaning fee. Will give more realistic idea of price. Would also be nice if the situation with the water is posted on ad and not after booking.
We travel a lot, but this place was the lowest standard we have ever stayed at. The TV didn't work (I called the owner and she said my husband just needed to install the rabbit ears - there were no rabbit ears). When I turned on the hot water tap in the kitchen, there was such a loud bang that my husband and I looked at each other in shock - needless to say we turned off the hot water cylinder and then didn't shower at all the next morning! Nothing in the cottage fits together - everything looks run-down!
Was a nice, spacious house with everything you need.
Had an incredibly peaceful time at the farm. It's very refreshing and the farm atmosphere with our other "friends" (ducks, cattle, kitten, chickens and donkeys) was a real highlight. Arrange the bliss for our city jays. Will definitely visit again. Irene was an adequate and excellent hostess. Even sorted us out with extra wood without charging us extra during loadshedding. The apartments are so beautiful. Local, idyllic place with even an indoor fireplace at such a reasonable price. Thanks again Irene.
After a "reception" conversation, pianos came up and I was invited to try the piano in the house. It was quite an experience. The reception was very friendly and early in the morning the rooster confirmed to me that a new day is dawning. Lovely farm atmosphere away from the hustle and bustle.
What a privilege to be able to wake up in the morning with nature and animal sounds and enjoy morning coffee on the veranda.
10 out of 10. Gem of a place. 10 out of 10 for location.
Really enjoyed the show and explored the old jail and had a lovely lunch there.
Friendly reception. Neat units with everything you need.
Nice and clean stay!
Quiet and nice to visit with family and friends.
Very well located for rugby fans.
Safe and tidy with a nice farm feel. Very friendly reception. Great appreciation for the separate bottle of drinking water.
Ideal for friends and family, definitely I would recommend it, even during load shedding.
The tranquility and farm atmosphere as well as safety are fantastic. Thank you Irene for sharing your paradise with us. See you again soon.
It felt like home, pure farm.
We had a lovely stay. There were quite a few little things in the house that were broken and that was just an irritation. Windows with no handles, bin lid was broken, toilet seat keep slipping out of hinge. My recommendation would be subject to my comments.
Unit needs an upgrade.
See stars.
About 2 weeks before the date of stay, the lady from Oakdale Cottages said that she had double bookings and that she could no longer accommodate us. She did suggest other accommodations, but we were not very satisfied with the treatment.
Lovely farm atmosphere. Everything was just nice and nice and clean. Everything one needs is there. Second time we were there.
It was very special to spend the night in this charming old house. Everything you need is there and everything is so beautifully decorated. Would love to stay longer!
This gem is definitely worth another visit.
See stars.
Quiet and peaceful. In nature. House was neat and clean. Equipped with all the necessities. Home away from home.
It's only if you want to grill, that there was no outdoor grill and the indoor grill is downstairs, so you have to stand bent over and grill the whole time. Other than that, everything is great.
Fully equipped cottage with everything you need and more! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in peace and quiet. Surroundings are beautiful and town has all the necessary shops.
It is the absolute solution for the person who loves fireplace fire and convenient simplicity. Farm animals and chickens around your feet are a luxury today. The place is definitely recommended.
It's very nice and peaceful.
It was a good experience. It might be a bit expensive for the fact that there was no milk for the coffee and tea, and maybe a biscuit or something would have added to the good experience. I can recommend it for the future.
A few small things could be done more.
