Rooms were neat and clean but this is definitely no more than 3-star accommodation. Rooms are small and cramped and have no bath. For overnight stays I might recommend but not for long holidays.
My clients were booked for 6 nights and after 1 night checked out. It was New Year's and it was terrible.

Value for money - Yes. Staff - 50% is friendly and the other 50% are only friendly to certain people. Facilities - Pool does not look like the pictures. Creepy crawly was in the pool all the time and when we took it out as the pool was too small for the 3 kids and the creepy crawly, the manager sent a message to say that we should not remove it as if it breaks we are going to pay, so why did they not remove it themselves as it was hot and lots of guests wanted to make use of the pool or put a sign to say when the pool will be cleaned. That was a total put-off. Room 205 which has a bath had to bath in cold water as there was loadshedding. When we arrived we saw that the rooms did not have a fridge, on the welcome note it said that we can request one if needed, when we asked reception they said we had to book it. Then we called for it and the agent was highly irritated with us calling them. Loadshedding lights were only provided to certain clients on arrival and we had to ask for ours at 10 pm the evening when the lights went off. Room 110's lights did not work and were told to use the bedlamps. The room has a strange smell of mould and when I mentioned it, they said it's the roof? Like, if you are a 4-star hotel, there must be something you can do so that your guests don't get irritated by this smell, as it's bad. I must say the aircon in the rooms is excellent. Bedding is nice and white and nice clean white towels are provided every day.
Room window could not close. No towels in the room.
No place to put cosmetic bags in the bathroom. Female guests usually have makeup bags, etc. and why cannot there be a small table in the bathroom for such items? Cleanliness of bathroom not tops.
The children's sleeping place was up stairs with no door that would prevent children from walking down or climbing up alone, we did not use the upper room for safety reasons. The pool was not usable the water was cloudy. Rooms as in photos but there is a lot of dust and a musty smell in hotel. Have stayed in 3 star which is much better equipped and clean. Our stay was the only downside of our holiday. A deep clean of the Hotel, tidying up the garden and treating the pool will give the hotel a boost. Railings around the hotel will also make it safer for cars. Throughout the nights, there were many street walkers moving through cars.
We booked for 6 days. At this time we noticed the place was full of dust. I wrote my name on the blinds and it was still there when we checked out. I couldn't put our suitcases on top of the cupboards. Substance. The bed lamps, fabric.
First night there was no mat for the shower, a coffee machine but no pods, and it was only superficially cleaned. The stainless steel trash can in the bathroom was dirty and the floors were lightly mopped. It hadn't been properly washed in a long time. I was in room 101 and in the morning there were people outside the window talking loudly. The hotel is generally tired and does not deserve 4 stars.
Hotel room doors lock with a key, and a set of keys left in the room, apparently for the cleaning team to be able to enter, but they are left in the room. Our room was not cleaned on the one day at all while we were out all day because the cleaning staff could not get into the room. Reception said that I should have left the door open for them during the day, but what about our personal belongings left in the room, or should we carry that with us every day? The WiFi was weak in our room and I had to use my own personal hotspot to get work done in the evenings when we returned to the hotel for the night. I simply can not understand the key, and cleaning situation within the hotel and completely not natural to leave the room open/unlocked while we are not there.
Extremely poor, maybe give the place one star, dirty, nothing works properly, doors don't lock, wires sticking out of wall plugs, carpets dirty, water dripping from ceiling, geyser noisy and not working, not decent security, staff eh on lounge sofas and sleeping. We were extremely disappointed with the place.
When I come to George I will book again.
Oakhurst is ideally located in the town centre. Old fashioned charm. Had a nice time.
It was a quick overnight stay. Staff very efficient. Very friendly. All round great hospitality.

I am not the type of person to leave negative reviews and usually if I've had a bad experience I don't leave a review at all. With that being said, I feel it is only fair to be truthful about my experience as a guest and help out future guests. I would also like to highlight the fact the the staff were very helpful and friendly, this review is in no way a reflection on the service that they provided. The pictures shown on the site is very deceiving and might I even say, outdated. We paid extra for a luxury room, because it leads directly out onto the pool deck. Upon our arrival we were told that the swimming pool is out of order aka. drained empty. There was no mini fridge (although apparently if they had an extra one to spare you could request it), but the standard room across from our room had one, what exactly were we paying extra money for? The bathroom was in a appalling state, with black mould growing in and around the shower. There were spiderwebs across both windowsills in our room. The door leading out to the pool was cracked and split down the middle at the bottom. Our bedding had dirty spots all over the cover. And the AC unit for the room above ours was situated right outside of our bedroom window. When switched on by the guests in that room it made such a noise that we found it difficult to sleep. My partner is fairly easy to please and a typical male. He doesn't mind the setting as long as everything is tidy and well kept but after out first night he refused to stay there for another night. I have to honestly say that I read the reviews about the Oakhurst Hotel from previous guest and it is blatantly obvious that the experience we had is worlds apart from theirs.

The room felt a bit dingy and dark. Not all the lights were working. The bathroom had no door and just emptied hinges showing that the door was broken. There were marks on the bathroom walls. The hotel lacked the care and consideration but the staff did their best to keep it friendly and were always polite and helpful. Some things the manager/owner needed to see to were very much lacking.
My air conditioning did not work and no attention was paid to it, I slept badly for three nights because of a very stuffy and hot room. Choice for dinners was also very limited and the preparation was also not up to standard. COVID-19 regulations are also not always followed and some of the guests did not wear masks.
There is a lot of physical things that need repair, i. e. handles on the doors, the headboard of the bed, hooks on the walls, holes in the walls and doors, handle on the dresser - there is only a screw, which can be very dangerous. Unfortunately, the friendliness of the staff does not make up for the disappointment of the facilities.
No generators during load shedding. The personnel could not give us assurance that our vehicle will be safe. There is also not enough parking. Open parking.
Only problems were the WiFi. Didn't work in our room. TV channels are definitely not in line with a four star hotel. Other than that, everything was good and very comfortable.

The sleeping place in the loft is dangerous for children under 12. The television and channels were disappointing. Our window could not open, one of the ropes was broken.
Wow, where am I? The Wifi didn't work, the breakfast is very expensive for what you get. The hotel rooms need a bit of a revamp and the clerk didn't know anything about the area. There were only two dishes to choose from for dinner.
The cleanliness inside and especially outside can be renovated and the security can be applied.
This hotel is nowhere near a 4-star hotel. It advertises a restaurant but it is not operational for an evening meal. The hotel has made no provision for load shedding. The bathroom becomes a dark hole. For breakfast - the coffee machine does of course not work - no toast available. Check out not possible as everything not working so cash only. The couch in lounge front legs are broken, supported by two firewood logs.
Ons het vir die naweek by Oakhurst Hotel ingeboek omdat dit naby die motorskouterrein was. Pragtige hotel met baie vriendelike personeel. Hulle het ons tuis laat voel en die ontbyt was skitterend. Lekker buite langs die swembad gekuier in die aande omdat die weer ons toegelaat het. Die kamer was basies maar niks het ontbreek nie. Skoon en netjies. Ons sal vir seker weer hier oornag. Die ander voordeel van die hotel is sy ligging. Jy is stapafstand van heerlike restaurante as jy nie by die hotel sou wou eet nie. Die verkeer (as daar was) het glad nie gepla nie. Ons het heerlik geëet en geslaap. Lieflike plek met lieflike mense.

The staff are generous and incredibly helpful and go out of their way to make guests feel at home, an invaluable asset to the image of the hotel. The price is extremely competitive and excellent value for money. Dinner was very reasonably priced and the food was excellent with prompt, friendly service. We would book here again anytime. We really enjoyed our stay here during our December holiday. The hotel is centrally located and it was easy to reach everything we wanted. The hotel offers delicious meals and we like to recommend the oxtail. All the staff were friendly and made us feel very welcome. Our room overlooked the pool and it was lovely to be so close so we could cool off in the evening after a hot day.

Oakhurst succeeds in providing the much needed quiet environment from Cape Town's busy daily life. Warm reception and scrumptious meals added to the quality of service which we received. King-size beds were to die for. The cleanliness in the rooms was outstanding. The layout around the pool is beautiful. A place we definitely will return to. A pity the noisy street disturbed the tranquillity of the environment, especially at night. Saucers for the mugs in the rooms might be a good idea. This will also protect the surface of the furniture.

We had a lovely stay at Oakhurst Hotel. The staff were very friendly, especially Sophia which assisted us with a lovely supper on the Friday night when the hotel had a crisis. Rooms were spotless and the beds were so comfy. We definitely would stay there again.
The same breakfast was served everyday. We were informed that breakfast was served until 10:30, however, soon after 10:00, the breakfast offered was slowly removed. I expected that info regarding various meals, TV channels etc. would be available in the room, but there was nothing. For a 4 star hotel there was no porter available to assist with our luggage.

I was not impressed in the least. The lady at the front desk in the afternoon was super rude and no fridge in my room in hot George or no notification if there is WiFi or anything. They were more interested if I wanted supper, so I was not happy, I will not return.

We had a good 3 nights. My daughter and I had to ask for an extra duvet as they didn't provide twin beds. There was no WiFi reception in Room 103 and 104. There were 2 hotspots we tried to connect to, but lost signal each time. My discussed it with the friendly manager. My daughter had to prepare for a presentation and simply had to do that in the lounge. The shower was very dirty and definitely needs a good JIK treatment. The chair in the room was worn out. I would return to the hotel as I'm sure that the place would improve under the new management. 10 out of 10 for the staff in the dining room!
The hotel is very neat, the staff are friendly and their food is of excellent quality - very tasty and at reasonable prices. Just a pity they are not open for dinner on weekends in the evening, but they are open for breakfast and lunch. Otherwise everything was just fine.
