124 guests' feedbackThe place remains a gem. Everything was neat and clean, well equipped.
Very nice stay, beautiful place.
The perfect location on the river, the cottage has everything that you could need for a weekend's stay.
Fantastic. We really enjoyed it and would highly recommend.
Our stay was awesome, peaceful, a lovely break away and rest from the busy Cape Town city life. Antoinette was very helpful with directions and assisted friendly as far as possible regarding items ordered on their farm regarding wood, ice, meat, etc. Very clean bathroom and bedrooms, tidy, homely and warm with the fireplace. The hot tub was amazing! Easy to operate and had a jol. Thank you! We will definitely return to Oewerzicht again, with the children in the summer to swim and fish!
Wonderful and friendly hostess.
Oewerzicht Farm Cottages was a delightful experience. Clean, tidy and well equipped, with extremely comfortable beds, super strong water jet in the shower heads (which is usually a problem everywhere) and a lovely view. Lots of things to do (if you wanted to), but reading books on the stoep, or long walks in the Kol-Kol, with that view, makes the break from the city, perfect. View 4: Maybe pay attention to the 1 stove that doesn't work and the light in the master bedroom bathroom.
Relaxed and peaceful.
It's a shame they don't specify their kitchen facilities as it was quite uncomfortable without a microwave on the weekend, it would have made me rethink my preparation for the weekend or maybe even selection of unit/location. I especially tried to inquire ahead of time, but both you and the hostess left the answer vague.
It was truly a lovely weekend. We really enjoyed it and even Anna, our Boston Terrier, had so much fun playing with Frikkie, the Boxer. Unfortunately, Frikkie was not available to play on Saturday. Otherwise it was an experience. Nice close to Greyton where we visited the church bazaar and the market.
Excellent stay! Rustic, celebrating local character. Helpful staff. Kids loved the pool and hot tub. Perfect weekend getaway.
Beautiful environment, quiet, neat and clean. Great service from the owners, would go back anytime. Great stay, thank you.
The getaway was a gift for friends of mine and they couldn't get over how nice it was. The view and surroundings are beautiful and people are very friendly.
We had a great stay and the place and nature are beautiful. Just two things I would like to mention to the management: We stayed in a unit where the braai is inside the cottage. The built-in braai smells terrible inside (the smoke does not escape). We made a fire to barbecue the first night, but had to put the fire out afterwards because there was so much smoke in the room. I had to cook our meat in a pan on a gas stove, because there is neither an oven nor a microwave. Second, there is no canopy over the porch and it rained both days we were there, so we had to sit inside the cottage every night.
Very nice stay. Was just very cold, especially in Welgeleë cottage.
Was my second visit in the beautiful surroundings. The upgrades are fresh and even more convenient. Staff were proactive in navigating us safely across the river.
Unfortunately, our stay got off to a poor start partly due to poor judgment on my part and an unmarked low water river crossing (recent rains had washed away indicators, which should have been replaced even if it was just with temporary markers to help first-time visitors like me). We were quickly assisted and able to recover, unfortunately with some damage to my vehicle. After an alternative route was indicated to us by the farm manager, a very memorable and enjoyable stay followed. Although my wife and I are not very active people, hence we did not make use of hiking or cycling opportunities, we did take several walks on the property with some great views of the river and mountains. The unit itself was well stocked, clean and well maintained. Once we were able to contact the manager on duty (incorrect phone number was provided in pre-visit communication), he was extremely responsive to any requests or queries we sent his way and resolved some minor niggles with our unit immediately. Even though no mobile coverage is advertised, we were able to pick up a signal by moving around to other locations in our unit, which at least allowed for messages to be received and sent on WhatsApp, although full internet access was not available. Overall, a very memorable and enjoyable relaxing break away.
Very peaceful place to stay, perfect for family and friends who want to get away from the hustle and bustle, but don't necessarily want to camp. Nice to be able to swim in a pool, or kol-kol pool or even the river which is walking distance away.
Cottage is very comfortable, just incredibly dirty. It also needs some repairs.
Enjoyed four days spent with the family at Uitsig 3. Many hours spent in the kolkol and enjoying the surroundings. Greyton and its surroundings always deliver. Enjoyed a hike in the Greyton Nature Reserve.
This cottage we stayed in was newly built (since the flood earlier this year completely damaged the infrastructure), so everything was new and clean! We stayed at the Hadida cottage: It came with its own wood-fired hot tub, kitchenette (gas-powered stove top, even an air fryer!), and indoor braai. My only critique was that it gets quite hot in the summer, so I recommend the hosts include a fan in the sleeping area. But for winter, they have ample heating sources: It had a fireplace, loads of blankets, and a freestanding heater. I would also recommend that they include more photos per unit, as I think some of it is a bit outdated and does not do it justice. All in all, this place is absolutely perfect!
We had an amazing stay at Oewerzicht. The hot tub was a complete hit and it's very dog-friendly too!
We have been going to Oewerzicht for 10 years and enjoy it more and more each time. So much to do and new experiences.
The family had a nice time, kids are too young for the cottages next to the river (in terms of caution) but would definitely go back to the houses further away. Winter is cold and wet, our jacuzzi was not positioned on top of the deck which made it extra cold to get in and out but it was blazing hot when we arrived which was really nice. A carpet or two and a warmer extra blanket would have been a nice touch to bring more warmth to the place but otherwise, we kept the fireplaces going right through the night! Overall, we had a good time!
The cottage had everything we needed. It was clean and cosy. The surroundings are tranquil & peaceful, leaving one feeling renewed. The baked bread we received on arrival was perfect for our soup. Antoinette replied promptly to all my messages. Thank you for a lovely getaway.
Lovely view, very peaceful, nice stoep with braai, well-provisioned kitchen. River nearby with kids' jungle gym and nice shade, plus a nice pool. Downsides were the heat at night (a fan in the second bedroom would have helped) and lots of flies.
The farm is fantastic. We had a lovely family gathering and will go again and again. The ovens in the View cottages need to be replaced. It doesn't work and doesn't seal anymore. Some of the stovetops don't work either. Other than that, everything was perfect.
Lovely relaxing house by the river. Even though we were a little late and arrived in the dark, and it was a little difficult to find the place at the beginning, the stay was blissful. The night we slept over the hot tub was running outside, but not used because of the rain. The view and the tranquility are fantastic and the morning views are picture perfect.
Lovely stay. Nice break away from the busy city life.
Place needs a revamp. No intention to return.
Value for money. Beautiful.
We had a great time at Oewerzicht. We were in the Citrus cottage. The bedding was comfy and clean. The kitchen was fully equipped. No issues. We did not know that there is only 1 bathroom in the main house. One had to walk THROUGH the other room to the bathroom. It was a bit odd (especially at night). We did not use the veranda's jacuzzi. Otherwise a good time. The lawns are beautifully green. And the camping area also looks very neat. Will come back next time and stay in a different cottage.
We had a lovely stay at Oewerzicht Farm Cottages' Uitsig cottages. Most beautiful view from the nicest stoepie. Cottage equipped with everything one needs. Greyton conveniently close. Nice quiet and peaceful.
Was able to switch off fine without mobile signal.
Had a great time there with friends. Nice view of the river and lovely braai/hanging out areas.
We stayed in View 4. The unit was very neat and well equipped. The hot tub was definitely the highlight. We also enjoyed the tennis court and pool. Will definitely want to visit Oewerzicht again. The camping facilities looked like great fun.
Hospitality is 100% and we can't wait for home-baked farm bread. We have been visiting the farm for more than 10 years and will definitely go again in 2023. A must to get away from hectic city life!.
Rested so well. Most beautiful place with friendly people.
Relaxing cabibs on the river with lovely walks and mountain bike trails from the campsite, and delightful visits to a very quaint and friendly country village of Greyton.
A little further out of town than expected, but definitely worth it. A breathtaking view of the mountains greets you from the veranda. One simply feels part of farm life.
Could have another fan for the second bedroom but otherwise a lovely getaway destination.
Well-equipped units, very nice views and peaceful surroundings.
We did have cell phone signal at Uitsig. Kolkol hot tub was delicious, you just need to learn how to regulate the temperature.
Quiet environment with plenty of play space for children. Very nice stay.
We enjoyed the beautiful views and the hot tub was especially nice in the evening. Also loved the Outdoor Shower. My daughter enjoyed running around the big open lawn and play area. Very relaxing.
We stayed in Bergzicht. Was welcomed with a delicious fresh bun. Beautiful peaceful surroundings and had a great time relaxing. Unfortunately, it no longer looks like the beautiful, inviting photos on the website. Here and there there are a few things that need attention.
Central cooking facilities are available but far from our unit. There were braai facilities, an electric kettle and a lovely stove for heating. A kitchenette in the room with a microwave oven would be a great improvement.
Country fresh air in the country was very relaxing. Good time spent with family. Highly recommended.
The KolKol hot tub was delicious!
Hele ervaring was uitstekend, om terug te wees op die plaas waar ons getrou het. Baie behulpsaam. Wonderlike ervaring.
Oewerzicht is ideal for a weekend getaway. A paradise for children!
Highly recommend this place.
What a gem, beautiful farmhouse, little houses filled with character, neat and conveniently equipped. Welcomed with a delicious and fresh farm-baked bread and hot farm Jacuzzi. True hospitality!
Wat 'n heerlike bederf, warm bad was reeds aan en vuurwarm met aankoms en die sneeu op die berge het bygedra tot ongelooflike uitsigte. Dankie vir die lekker broodjie. Ons kuier was net te kort, so ons kom beslis weer.
Place and the view is beautiful. Everything you need for a getaway.
It was what we as a family needed so much. This was our treat after my daughter and I overcame COVID and God drew us to this place. It was worth every penny for our whole family.
One of our favourite places to stay for the most peaceful unwind and relax in a beautiful part of our country.
It was the ideal getaway to relax and escape from the daily hustle and bustle. We were spoiled with freshly picked apples and freshly baked bread. Staff is very friendly.
Friendly owners. The piping hot, freshly baked farm bread was also a delicious treat.
Can chat and socialize again without phones and television. Quality time together as a family with adult children. We can laugh and talk until the sun comes up.
All that you need to energize your body and soul again. Lovely fire, on the river bank, beautiful room and comfortable bed. Will definitely be back.
Neat little place. Ideal for a quick getaway from the Cape.
Uitsig 2 Cottage was beautiful and clean. Stunning views. Hot Kolkol. Great friendly service.
The venue was stunning! The cottage had all you needed, we were even given a bag of wood per day and we stayed 2 nights and 2 days. I will most definitely be back but would like to see the pool cleaned before we arrive as we didn't get to use it since it was only being cleaned the afternoon before we left. I would also prefer a TV with some version of DSTV for those cold evenings when you cannot sit outside by the fire or in the jacuzzi. All in all those were minor things that didn't take away from the Amazing time we had - Thank you so much and thank you so much for your hospitality!
I brought my dog with and everyone at Oewerzicht was very accommodating. She loved her long walks on the farm and the beautiful green lawns. We loved the surprise of the freshly baked bread given to the guests. It was absolutely delicious!
We had so much fun relaxing and switching off. The farm atmosphere and the birds and animal sounds simply made the hustle and bustle of the city disappear and made us relax immediately. What an incredibly beautiful place.
The door to the master bedroom is too low and you often hit your head.
Thank you very much Aunt Antoinette you are amazing! She went out of her way to make us feel welcome. The jacuzzi was already hot and ready for our arrival, as well as a freshly baked bread awaited us. We would highly recommend Oewerzicht for a break away from the city noise. Beautiful scenery and the most beautiful farm.
Accommodation just needs an aircon. Was 39 degrees with 1 fan, but other than that it was very neat. Nice stoep.
Fantastic vacation spot
Ons het so lekker gekuier dat ons besluit het om nog 'n aand te bly!
We will be back for sure.
Als was neat. Got a freshly baked bun. Was delicious.
Things that can be added is a bag of wood and fire lighters along with it's price in the unit. Check on cleaners before guests book in as I still found dirty plates in the cupboard with tomato sauce stuck to it, other than that we will be visiting soon!
It's a lovely getaway for a weekend as it's 100 km from Cape Town. We really enjoyed the hot tub and just looked at the stars and had a nice chat. I can recommend it.
Perfect place to unwind and connect with nature.
Great place to stay if you want to get away from civilisation to just relax, rewind and recharge.
Our visit on Oewerzicht was pleasant, but there were problems with the water supply to the farm. It was later sorted out. Our toilet wouldn't flush, but Micheal soon sorted it out. In general, the stay was very nice.
We stayed in the 2 sleeper cottage on the river. Very nice rustic cottage with modern furniture. The bed was very comfortable. Nice, clean, communal kitchen. Will definitely recommend it.
This was our 2nd time staying in Uitsig Cottages. The reception was very good. What's nicer than arriving home on a cold afternoon with a warm house and freshly baked bread. The homemade sausage and patties were also top notch. We will definitely go back for a 3rd time.
Oewerzicht was recommended by a friend. After seeing the photos, I knew this was what we were looking for: the peaceful countryside, the water flowing calmly, the view. Arriving on a chilly evening, we are welcomed with lights on and a heater on to give a lovely cozy feel to our Stone Cottage. The cottage, as well as the well-equipped shared kitchen, was very neat and clean. It was truly a lovely weekend. We will definitely visit again.
Incredibly quiet and clean place. But no internet access for the whole weekend.
We stayed in one of the Uitsig Cottages and even though we were not right on the river, it was still a beautiful view. There is no Wi-Fi and TV so you can switch off completely. Went for lovely walks and explored the town of Greyton which is stunning in terms of dining and shopping. My husband also had a great cycle on the Sunday so all round very affordable and worth the trip. Will definitely be back with children.
My husband and I enjoyed a lovely long weekend at Oewerzicht in one of the Stone Cottages. The cottages are well equipped, neat and clean, with a very comfortable bed. Travelers should only be aware that the Stone Cottages have a communal kitchen, so each unit does not have its own kitchenette. Each unit does have its own braai area, bar fridge and coffee station.
Very neat place. Very centrally located and walking distance to most restaurants. Hot tub on a cold night not warm to the bottom. Sorry there is no toilet in the downstairs living area. Would recommend the stay.
Stayed in Citrus Cottage - disadvantage is that the only bathroom is en suite, not so convenient!
Lovely area to relax in nature. Close enough to Greyton to experience, but also ideal as a getaway to the farm.
Oewerzicht is excellent value for money and located in the most beautiful area at Greyton. The staff are friendly and take good care of the guests. It is clean and very tidy. I will come again anytime!
Very impressed with the stone cottage, once settled in the area was quiet, close to the town if we needed anything.
The customer service beforehand had been very good! Emails confirmed payment and also explained the location of the house very well (via Google Maps) as well as suggested places to visit. The house itself looks even more beautiful than in the photos! It was spacious (we were seven adults and three children) and there is a very nice outdoor area where we could grill meat. The wood-fired jacuzzi is also a winner! I will definitely go there again and recommend the place to other people!
Fantastic view and peaceful surroundings.
Great experience. We will definitely be back to enjoy the campsite as well. The units are tastefully and comfortably furnished.
Very nice place. Definitely need to stay longer than a weekend. So much to do and experience. Perfect for jogging, fishing and mountain biking.
Wonderful quiet place to escape from the hectic life and just recharge one's batteries. Will definitely go again and recommend to friends too.
We had the mountain views. The cosy home had a lovey fireplace inside that we enjoyed very much.
Location and view was lovely. cottage is neat and well equipped for self-catering. However, feel there could have been basic things like sugar, salt and pepper. We also only had 2 towels between the 3 of us, and summer linen in the second bedroom was disappointing in the middle of winter. This particular cottage only had a shower, not a bath, which makes it difficult with little ones. The check-out time is also very early, 10:00, and the staff only came knocking after 9 to ask if we were on our way yet, because people were coming to us. Other than that we were very happy!
The most beautiful house in the most beautiful village. The yard pretty much spoiled us with space for playing cricket, playing bowls and so much fun barbecuing and hanging out. The house is equipped with everything one could possibly want. All that would have made it better was if we could have used the hot tub, but with the drought that was obviously not an option. But we will definitely be back!
We stayed in Citrus cottage which worked really well with small children who could run around on their own with lots of space and close to tennis courts. Beautiful surroundings. We will definitely be back again. Thank you very much!
Oewerzicht is a very nice accommodation sight who caters for different styles of accommodation. Beautiful surroundings and the house is fully equipped and beautifully furnished. It is definitely a place where families can have time together without technology getting in the way. We had a hot tub, very nice, I think it's something you get to know while using it. In the beginning it's too hot to get in and for a while you can't get in and you want to use it while you are there. Perhaps some detailed instructions of how many pieces of wood makes the perfect hot tub?
Beautiful scenery. Clean air. Lovely view over the mountains and river. Very tranquil. Enjoyed swimming in the rock pool. Fresh, white bedding and beautiful curtains, linen, towels and pillows. Conveniently equipped with everything that you need. Very clean. The free homemade bread that was delivered to our house was a big surprise. Very hospitable. A Fish eagle's call was an extra bonus.
Great decor, lovely front stoep, grass for kids to play! River right there. The house was very neat when we arrived, wood was delivered; it had all the utensils that one could need (we brought some of our own stuff but it wasn't necessary). We loved everything about our stay. The only drawback for us as a family is that Citrus only had 1 bathroom and it sleeps 6! We managed well, don't get me wrong, but an additional toilet (even if it's a guest loo) would be helpful (but it certainly didn't detract from a wonderful weekend to celebrate my mom's 70th birthday). Next time we would bring more things to use on the river!
We had an excellent stay in the Citrus cottage. Everything was 100% - all the things required to self cater were present and accounted for. It was great having both outdoor and indoor fireplaces!
The house is really fantastic. The location is great and you have everything you need. Might just make a few small suggestions: some type of shade structure at the braai area. In the summer sun it's terribly hot and you can't really sit anywhere outside, which is a bit bad. Then maybe just a little sugar or something. We know that they say you should bring your basics, but then let them know that you literally have to bring EVERYTHING. Otherwise it was really great to stay there.
We all enjoyed the area very much. It has a nice farm atmosphere. The fireplaces, heaters and feather duvets helped a lot when it got cold!
Oewerzicht is a beautiful holiday resort. It has a wonderful natural location. We were received in a friendly manner and the fresh bread on the table was a nice welcoming touch. We stayed in Bergzicht. The unit was clean, but has some things lacking. There were no towels on two of the beds, just in the bedroom. Other than that, the bathroom needs desperate attention. The toilet kept leaking and the floor was constantly wet. The bathroom door needs to be fixed so that it locks properly (not just with a bolt) and so that it doesn't hang askew. There needs to be a handle by the bath so that old people can get out easily. By the tent (number 2) where my daughter and her husband stayed, a bag of wood was stolen in the night. They were also bothered throughout the night by a small wildcat with lice. The office should be open at certain times over the weekend.
The accommodation and area were perfect for our family with 2 small children. Lots of space to run and lots of things to experience.
We enjoyed it thoroughly.
Would stay here again and hopefully for a bit longer. The only negative thing is that the trees under which we set up tent were all exotic trees (Black Wattle). There were very few indigenous trees.
The unit is located on a very nice working farm. Bathrooms and master bedroom were very comfortable and tidy. The hot tub is lovely. However, there were items that were not in working order. Furniture in living room old and uncomfortable. I brought this to management's attention upon departure. Those problems must be 100% fixed before guests are put in units at 100% charges.
It's a nice venue. There is plenty of play space for children, it's close enough to Greyton for a nice lunch or breakfast! Ideal getaway for family with children - large lawns, farm life, tennis court and beautiful views. Just what one needs.
What a beautiful view of the mountain and river. It was lovely to sit on the veranda and admire the beautiful scenery. The houses are beautiful and everything was very nice, clean and tidy.
My boyfriend and I arrived at Oewerzicht on Friday evening. After a long week in the city, this peaceful setting was so blissful. We stayed in the safari tents, and I would really recommend them to everyone. It's neat, nicest bedding, and the open air shower was my favorite! The tents are on the banks of the river, with sheds dotted around. There are the most beautiful hiking trails. Remember to bring rackets (there is a beautiful tennis court). I will definitely return again.
It's the ideal place to calm down and spend quality time with your family! No cell phone signal or TV - FANTASTIC!! We will definitely visit Oewerzicht again - this time with the whole family!
Everything perfect. I just think they could pay some attention to the crockery.
I didn't realize it was a working farm. There were quite a lot of disturbing noises all the time that could keep you awake. I also thought the camping tents were closer to the rest. Everything was a bit disjointed and far from each other. It's really very beautiful and a lovely trip to Greyton and back. Just sorry about the rain.
It was very nice to visit you. Friendly service and a very nice and nice setting. Those of you who are wondering... don't, just go visit. It's definitely worth it. I will definitely visit there again.
Well-located bathroom really needs an upgrade. Not really a safe place where you could leave your pets. A bit far out of town. Television set in lapa for big sporting events will be nice if the weather is bad.
Although it is an incredibly beautiful piece of land that one gets the opportunity to experience, and the accommodation is very comfortable, I feel that with little effort the cottage could be made much more comfortable for guests. The cottage could do with basic upgrading of things like the oven door not closing properly, the microwave's paint peeling off and rusted on the inside so it made me think twice before using it. The microwave is also on a very low bench in the kitchen which does not make it very ergonomically friendly. The toaster's base is broken, so it easily falls over. It's a basic and cheap item that I feel you should just replace if it breaks. The braai grill was usable but in a very bad condition. All the broken items leave a bad feeling with the guest. There are no barbecue tools, only a pipe to scrape into the fire with. The box above the indoor braai and shelf behind the sink are very poorly placed and make you keep bumping your head against them. Although there is a very nice indoor barbecue/fireplace in the kitchen, it smokes into the cottage and makes it quite inconvenient when you want to use it to heat the house in the winter like when we were there. So I only used it one night. It's all little things. I really only want to mention this to the owner as positive criticism that with very little effort and little money will make a world of difference in how someone will experience the unit. The pasella hot freshly baked bun on the front porch on Friday morning was again a very good extra and such things make people remember the place. Should the above please don't take it personally. The cottage is very cute, but I just feel for the price you pay you expect the basic amenities to be there and in good working order. So I will think twice before paying that amount of money again for that particular cottage.
Very peaceful and relaxing. It is ideal for a romantic getaway or even a family or group. I can recommend it. We had a very nice stay. My only suggestion is that the tents and bathroom be cleaned more thoroughly on the roof and corners for spiders and shelves. For someone who is very afraid of spiders, this was the only thing that made the stay slightly unpleasant.
The accommodation was simple, but stylish. This is exactly what we were looking for. The tranquility and peace one experiences is indescribable. The staff was friendly. If you just want to relax without any interference from television or mobile phones, then Oewerzicht is the place. The house reminded me of a typical farm house. Everything we needed was there.
