This Hotel was an absolute highlight of our flower tour. We are so sorry we only stayed 1 night before we went to visit Goegap Nature Reserve. Everyone at Okiep Hotel is just as friendly and helpful. The food! Our children can't wait to eat there again, they say it's tastier than any hotel's food they've eaten at. And I know it's especially because everyone was so friendly and made the children feel so at home. The family room was an absolute treat and we even had a great time lying down together watching TV. Well done Okiep Country Hotel, you are the best!
We wanted to sleep in a place to also look at flowers, Okiep was perfectly located with very clean and tidy rooms, near Nababeep which the receptionist recommended us to drive in that direction, thank you very much! The food was unbeatable! Delicious mutton curry, mutton ribs (best we've ever had and the chef was kind enough to share his recipe), mutton chops and delicious vegetables. Nice swimming pool and old-world atmosphere in the 'common area' with a pool table and books about the area. Apart from the fact that the place is fenced with razor wire which makes you wonder if you are safe we would highly recommend it, the buffet dinner was one of our highlights of the holiday!
Slept well and ate well. They packed breakfast for us, because we were driving early the next morning.

Car behind gates, felt very safe. Staff friendly and helpful. Offered us another room powered by generators during power outages which we appreciated.

The hotel has a good location and is an alternative to staying in Springbok. We were in a self-catering unit (old farmhouse) and it was pleasant staying there. The staff are friendly and helpful. The manager also gave good advice regarding where to go looking for flowers. The dinner was also excellent and overall we had a good stay there.

The 2 rooms were adjoining and upon our arrival we noticed that the room with bathroom carpet was soaked - probably the result of the sink faucet. No brochures of places of interest in the area were available. Luckily we chatted with the staff who pointed out the best flower viewing spots. I would really like to see the mining museum, but when we got there we had to learn that the museum was closed.
Was very disappointed when I found out at morning breakfast that hotel is used for Covid19 quarantine facility. The staff could have informed me the day before when I booked, then I might have had to pay twice to stay there. It's about honesty, not necessarily about making money, for that very reason I won't stay there again, no matter how cute and clean the place is!
The hotel part is excellent, the lodge part could improve. WiFi in lodge section was not working.

We used this hotel for one night on our journey from Langebaan via Springbok to Upington. Spacious and clean room. Pool in the garden is small, but it’s there. Excellent food, both dinner and breakfast. Secure parking. Friendly staff. Would stay here again.
Please change the direction indication to hotel. It took us through the informal settlement and creates a tremendously poor impression. We wanted to turn around.

Even though the family house needed some attention the linen was very clean. I think that the hotel should first renovate the house fully before assigning guests to it. We did have a look at the other rooms within the hotel and those were clean and neat.
We requested a wheelchair-friendly unit, but we didn't get it. The staff were helpful and tried to help us as much as they could.

Okiep Country Hotel is a convenient and fantastic stop over for travelling between Namibia and Cape Town. The staff is friendly and the food nice. The rooms are absolutely amazing! We asked for a family room and were given the choice of two, both very nice and much larger than we expected, with AC, pantry, bath, shower, WC and TV, children and adults slept in adjoining rooms. The pool is nice but there is a bird cage with a gazillion of pidgins that could have been moved off the relaxing area, basically for sanitary and noise reasons. Really nice lounges with good Wi-Fi. Ping pong table and braai's outside.

I don't think anyone will ever go to Okiep for a holiday, but if your looking for a nice place for an overnight stay on your way to the border or to Cape Town, this is the place to stay. Safe, peaceful and clean. Don't miss out on the restaurant, their Namakwa Lamb Neck is wonderful. Sleep tight in Okiep.
Good value for money. The family unit was modern and very spacious and comfortable for a large family. Only complaint - breakfast was on the expensive side.
The building is old but well maintained and everything was clean. The location just isn't ideal, but the building's history certainly explains it. We were a bit disappointed as we were not accommodated in the main building. Perhaps it should just be clearly indicated when discussing that some of the rooms are across the road from the physical hotel building.

Stay pleasant, meals good but hotel needs a renovation.
We were only there for 1 night traveling to Namibia. Staff were very friendly and family room perfect with all the essentials you needed. Only issue was that the main road through the town is very busy all night with locals drag racing, singing and talking all hours of the night. Eventually at 4 am it was quiet but not for very long.
Not value for money, must buy milk at reception. Rooms need urgent attention.
My husband and children and I enjoyed it so much. From the moment we were received, we were treated incredibly well. The rooms were so nice and cool and they were neat and clean. The people management and staff were so friendly. You don't get such great service anymore. From a scale of 1-5 I give you a 5, you must be nominated the best hotel in Southern Africa. You know what service entails and have already told many people about you. My sister-in-law will also sleep there at the end of January just because I told her that it is now value for money. Thanks again for the best service!

Dinner and breakfast were great with very friendly staff. Ideal for overnight on the way to Namibia or for flower holidays. Safe parking at your door makes it easy and quick to drop everything off.
The folks were very friendly and the lamb rib and chicken breast breakfast and dinner were excellent value for money. The room is not at the hotel, it is across the road and the fact that people stayed behind us wasn't ideal. No telephone connection with hotel, it didn't feel safe. Area around building was untidy and didn't look like the pictures. When we arrived they couldn't tell us what was for dinner and we never laid eyes on the menu they promised. The next day they wanted to charge extra for breakfast, but we refered them to our booking which stated that breakfast is included and they removed it.

A neat, friendly hotel, just next to the "Big Hole" of an exhausted copper mine. At the hotel you can get the key to the old pump house just a stone's throw from the hotel, and the Great Hole reminds you a lot of the one in Kimberley but without the tourists. The numbers on the room doors are copper, the tag on your room key is copper... The staff were very helpful and friendly. I can recommend the hotel without reservation!

We attended a funeral and were allowed to book in earlier, the hotel adds a personal touch by having the owner mingling with the guests. My husband and son sat outside chatting to him We would definitely love to visit the hotel again.
I would recommend Okiep Country Hotel anytime especially for their excellent breakfast and dinner. The food was top notch, nicely presented and the staff very friendly. It's quiet and out of the hustle and bustle of the town. All that was missing were some hooks in the shower to hang wet towels on.

The buffet breakfast was excellent but the lamb curry ordered for dinner consisted mostly of fat and gristle and was almost inedible - would recommend you avoid it. Staff were very polite and helpful.

Other facilities include a fully equipped kitchen, a lounge area, an inside and outside braai, and a jungle gym.
