I'm not a person to complain about accommodation, but staying in Bloemfontein in winter when it's -4 degrees, we expect at least warm blankets on the beds. On arrival there was no hot water. Fortunately, the host fixed it. The host also did not inform us that everything would freeze the next morning. Therefore, we had no water the next morning to shower or brush our teeth. No water was also available in the fridge as an alternative. There was also a dog barking all night.

Unfortunately, there is a problem with soundproofing rooms. With noisy neighbors partying until late, it spoiled our stay. These were contractors who did not consider the rest of other guests. Clear rules must be communicated by the owner to all guests regarding noise and disturbance of rest.

There are a few small things that I feel could be improved (but have discussed them directly with owner). The accommodation is neat and clean. And the fact that there are mattress protectors on the beds makes me completely overlook the little things - thank you very much for that. We had a nice stay. The equipped kitchenette is perfect for a quick dinner or breakfast.

Driving to/from plot between city not economical. Owners don’t always respect privacy, and constantly present. Breakfast basket is highly processed foods. Free but slow choppy wifi. The ceiling is made of wood, and therefore all sound from next door guests are audible (snoring, farting, conversations, tv etc).

We arrived at Olive Hill just after 12 o'clock, upon arrival our room was not ready and could not check into the room until 13:00. The room was really nice and clean and the place is very nice, the stoep is a plus. Problems we encountered that were unacceptable to us: We checked in because we had a wedding in the area. When we wanted to get ready and shower for the wedding there was no water. My mother only got enough water to wash her hair at the sink. It cost us to go to another guest house to shower there for the wedding. It wasn't just us, but other rooms as well that struggled with water. And as I understand all the other rooms were also booked for guests attending weddings. We contacted the number on the invoice and were told there was a problem with the pressure which we don't believe because people before us had also complained about the water. I was still talking to the gentleman to find out if there was an alternative solution to the water problem but the phone was then quickly placed in my ear, we then had no further contact with the person and he was not anywhere at all not to be seen. We didn't argue the matter any further and just drove to another guest house to take a shower in order to be at the wedding just in time. Later that evening when we arrived at the guest house after the wedding, my mother tried to take a shower, after which the water ran out again while she was trying to take a shower. Our family who also checked in at the guest house couldn't even make coffee the next morning and we couldn't even brush our teeth, so we used water that we drove with us for coffee and brushing our teeth and washing our faces. Would advise that guests are told in advance that there are water problems and that alternative arrangements are made, such as perhaps putting jugs of water in rooms for use, this is unacceptable to us. The other problem was the bathroom window is not tinted well enough and the curtain in front of the windows is very sheer. When my mother tried to take a shower we just hung a towel in front of the window, for us as women we feel very violated to take a shower in such a place if we could do it but we didn't because there was no water . If it wasn't for the water issues and the bathroom window I would have given this place 10/10. We are hoping for a partial refund on our stay.

The location of Olive hill Country Estate was good for our purpose, it being close to a wedding venue but a little out of town. The customer service was good and the owner was very friendly and helpful when needed. I believe the price is good for the purpose, and since you have everything and get what you need it was good.

The rooms are five star quality with a spacious bathroom for Dad who wants to shower and Mom who prefers a bath. The fridge and kitchen with sink, microwave oven and tasty cutlery are an absolute bonus for a family with children who like to store their own food or even prepare it for the next day. The spacious room has air conditioning, a table, seating and enough tasteful sleeping space for a whole family.
