The unit was cleaned every day. The bath mat and towels were changed daily. We have no complaints.
Comfortable. A place with a mirror, a chair and a power point for my wife to do her hair would be a nice feature.
This room is called the Seagull, giving you the image of blue skies and freedom. It would be more aptly named the jailbird. There is no airflow in this unit. Having no A/C is fine, but a fan is necessary when it is so hot and humid, and there is only a small window. We had to leave the door open to feel comfortable, which then subjects you to a lot of car noise and exhaust. Reading the description and viewing the photos doesn't really prepare you for the fact that the main road is literally at your front door, and the traffic starts very early, even on a Sunday. If you want to enjoy the view and have the curtains open, you have zero privacy. The room also has the ambience of a jail cell with unfinished brick walls and bars on the doors and windows. There is an open pipe running alongside the wall above one of the beds, which is obviously the toilet or the drain from the upper house, so that was also uncomfortable. There is no Wi-Fi and only a mosquito net for control in a room with two beds. There is no table or chairs to eat outside, and they don't want you to eat inside. In fact, you are "welcomed" with a long list of house rules they want you to sign AFTER you have BOOKED and PAID. The price of the room is double what most of the rooms of equivalent size and services are in Fishhoek. Paying extra to be on display on a busy public road, with no airflow, a long list of rules, and difficulty getting in and out with a car due to the vehicles for the dive shop blocking the parking was not worth the price because you cannot even enjoy the so-called sea view between the traffic, the train, and the electrical wires. I also have to say it was the most unfriendly and uncomfortable place I have stayed in South Africa after 3 years of crossing this amazing country. The attitude of the owner is highly condescending.
Whilst the best feature of this property is the view, the huge negative is the thin walls of the bedrooms. We were booked into the Whale room, which, with the neighbouring room, shares a communal kitchen downstairs (should one need it). Our neighbours decided to cook a curry for their dinner, which resulted in the entire section being overwhelmed by the pungent smell of burning meat and curry spices, even permeating into our suite, even though the door was firmly closed. On top of that, they carried on talking to one another until well after 01h00, completely disregarding the fact that there were other guests. Needless to say, we will not be booking there again.

The hostess was so warm and friendly upon arrival. Helpful with suggestions for places to eat. The room was spotless and had all we needed. The location is so awesome, being right on the sea. It was raining throughout the night, and you hear the waves crashing against the shore. Was so utterly relaxing. Best sleep I've had in ages. Will definitely go back for a longer stay next time. 5/5.
Everything was pre-booked and arranged. When we stopped there everything was fine and in place! Neat clean accommodation! Cute people!
Received with open arms, we didn't have ice, just mention to Retha and there she was with a bag of ice what a lovey lady she is. Ollava Guest House is a place I'll visit again. The back room was nice but there is so much more to see in the near future.
The hostess was very friendly, kind and ready to serve. But the room did not have a microwave, none given to us to use while there, no table to eat and yet it is not allowed to eat on the bed. Making eating time very uncomfortable. Maybe suggestions of things to do in Simon's Town should be given to customers in a form of booklets or printed flyers to attract more people around.
From arrival to check out everything was amazing. Great spot for a romantic evening with your spouse. Woke up to the sunrise from our bed, was magical. No complaints, will definitely be back!
