The Camdeboo Valley is beautiful and we had a lovely overnight stay in the nicely restored and well-equipped cottage. It is quite far from the main road so one just has to be prepared for that.
Had the most enjoyable time there, the quality bedding, the old mixed with the old look of the 1820s, the silence of the Karoo, the nice fireplace and enough wood at your disposal, the new vs. the old, the special way of thinking that they planned and carried out.
While the last wood crackles in the fireplace and the kettle boils again for another cup of peasant comfort, our little man is sleeping on the bed with Parisie and New York. It's freezing outside and although we wanted to barbecue, we just made garlic bread in the fireplace and meat in the pan. It's raining gently and it's dead quiet. All the animals in their pen and us cozy in our little house. It's beautiful here. Something out of a fairy tale. Goats and monkeys that greet you near the gate with forests with colored leaves and long tree trunks with streams that run into a large pond goats and cattle and sheep. To a little chicken chick paw-paw that is slightly flawed. It's 30 km from the road and the rocks and stones stand out high above us! The farm pond is full. Our hearts are full tonight. Full of tranquility. Andre rode his bike like that. The plains and open fields call you closer and your soul becomes peaceful here. Here there is no or only a slight signal. They make goat's milk cheese all here! Everything farm fresh is for sale and our order will arrive tomorrow morning. So on this Good Friday we experienced a piece almost from a Narnia book!
We stayed in the Onbedacht Cottage for 3 nights. The house was very clean and tidy and well equipped with everything you need. Tanya was very friendly and helpful. During our visit, she regularly made sure that we were not missing anything. It was a lovely peaceful environment surrounded by beautiful mountains to go hiking in. We walked to the mountain stream and had a picnic there. We will definitely stay here again.
We will be sure to stay again; however, next time it will be for more than just one night. A scenic farm and cosy cottage.

House rules
The cottage is located on a farm so there is a 30 km gravel road leading to the establishment. It is suitable for all cars, except in rainy weather where a vehicle with ground clearance is more preferable. A 4x4 is not necessary. Assistance will be given to those without 4X4's in these situations.Pets are welcome by prior arrangement, however pets are not permitted on the furniture or on the bed.
