44 guests' feedbackThe cottage was perfect for the two of us. The back garden is beautiful and lovely to relax in.
Our House exceeded our expectations. So nicely furnished and the area was also nice and quiet. We also did not feel unsafe next to the open field thanks to the security installed at the cottage. The bottle of wine and large bag of wood was very thoughtful and was put to good use over the cold weekend. Will definitely visit again!
Was a great little spot, no complaints and perfect garden for the floofs to explore.
Apart from a few issues it was fine. Stayed 10 days but sheets were not changed. Internet was intermittent at times. A mini oven would have been appreciated. The fridge is too small for 4 people, especially staying for 10 days.
We enjoyed our stay at Ons Huisie. Located at the bottom section of McGregor close to all the amenities and shops. The house had all we needed and we spent most of our time in the garden and the braai area outside.
"Rustic and cute". Has everything needed. Was received with a delicious bottle of wine in the house. Pet friendly definitely. Walked long distances with dogs in plains opposite house.
Everything was very well described in advance and the reception was friendly. The rate is too high for what it offers. The tranquility was good.
Back garden beautiful and well-maintained. However, the inside of the house was not so clean. The towel provided in the one bathroom was not fresh and clean. The lounge mat could do with a wash. The cutlery was not so clean. The fireplace in the cottage was amazing. Cosy cottage on the whole.
We really didn't need anything more and greatly appreciated the fireplace and heater. The sun rises were breathtaking and had a beautiful view each morning. The owls arrived each evening on the rooftop so we could hear their calming goodnight wishes, which was truly special to us all! A magical little spot indeed.
I am thankful that there was no TV. We got to know the people in the town and it made us feel at home.
We really enjoyed our stay.
The weekend was just what we needed as a family, peaceful, quiet with lots of fresh light. The village is beautiful, nice to walk and drink coffee in a cute little place. Close to nice wine farms, for wine tasting.
Pleasant stay. Dogs enjoyed the secure garden. Everything you need.
The cottage has great atmosphere where one can relax. Lovely big garden. Very private. Two points to notice: 1. Not clean under the beds. 2. We booked for four but there were only three towels. Notwithstanding these small negatives, we will stay over there in the future. Most enjoyable.
The cottage meets all the requirements for the price. We will spend a few rand more for accommodation, not so close to an open field, in the future in McGregor. Although there is a burglar alarm we felt uncomfortable. There is no personal contact with check in or check out and had to find out in town that there is a 12 hour planned power cut the next day. Everyone is aware of loadshedding and has the Push app and can therefore plan accordingly. Personal information like this is important in a town where almost all the eateries were closed on a Monday. Thanks for the complimentary bottle of wine. It is appreciated.
Enjoyed the garden and indoor fireplace. Very secure. Dog friendly.
Everything was exceptional from the time we arrived greeted by the gentleman who mangers the house to the unexpected bottle of wine which was enjoyed with a braai to the ambiance of the county cottage. Thank you for sharing the house with us.
It would have been nice if we had long life or fresh milk and a few rusks. The shelf above the basin in the main bedroom is too low and very difficult to brush your teeth and wash your face.
We visited Ons Huisie in May. Before arrival we received an email from Mira from McGregor Accommodation with details of all the gems McGregor had to offer. We truly appreciate it. She has such a profound love for the town. The house was humble and had everything we needed. The fireplace came with firewood that offered us cosy evenings. We pulled out the extra garden chairs and enjoyed a slow Sunday in the garden. The garden attracts so much local birdlife. The house tells the story of McGregor. From the peach pit garden paths to the bamboo ceilings. The soaps and creams in the bathrooms were all from the area. We truly appreciate all the small touches. This house made us fall in love with McGregor. We will definitely return for another visit.
We had a great time relaxing during our time there. The place is quiet and well maintained.
The garden is wonderful.
The silence is fantastic.
We really enjoyed our stay in the cute little house. Everything you need is there, the beds are comfortable and there is a nice meeting area and barbecue in the large garden. The view in front of the cottage makes it feel like you are on a farm.
Very neat little place. Ideal for a small family or a few friends. Surprise with a cold bottle of local wine.
Our House is excellently equipped with everything one might need. Very clean and tidy. Ideal for a peaceful getaway.
For people going to McGregor: The wood from the butchery is not really suitable for barbecuing. It's probably fireplace wood or something else.
We had a great time for two evenings in Ons Huisie. Everything we needed was available for a weekend visit. We really enjoyed the delicious biscuit and nice bottle of red wine. Fireplace smoked a little in the house, but we still enjoyed a nice card game night as a family.
Our little house is full of character and grows on a person quickly. The location is fantastic, you can walk around the whole town and explore everything with the time in the world. The only shortfall we did have was barbecue equipment, maybe I just overlooked it. I would recommend taking your own grill and tongs with you. The visit was too short, McGregor will definitely see us again.
Property generally needs attention with regards to maintenance, especially fencing. Master bedroom's en-suite bathroom does not have a toilet, so 2 bathrooms, but only 1 toilet. Photos on the website are old and need an update. I first contacted the landlord about this and they would change information about the toilet on the website but after two months there has still been no change.
The house exceeded our greatest expectations, we had a wonderful stay and everything was clean and tidy. The garden is a loop court and our dog really enjoyed it.
Really enjoyed the weekend. The cats were very friendly and slept well together in bed.
Ideal location of cottage on edge of town. We enjoyed outdoor activities at Vrojikheid NR and Saturday market. Looking forward to festivals next time.
We will definitely come again.
Great relax. Grateful for WiFi. Freezer cubicle very small. Had to ask butcher to store frozen food. Otherwise no problems!
We really enjoyed our stay. It was a very nice quiet neighbourhood. However the fireplace did smoke up the house which made it a bit unpleasant as it was too cold to keep the windows open for the smoke.
Very nice stay. Was a bit dusty, but understand that this is due to the thatched roof can be. Furthermore, the bedding and towels were clean and more than adequate. The staircase was made safe which we were very happy about. The bottle of wine and the delicious biscuits were a great treat. Just wanted somewhere to hang laundry and more comfortable chairs to sit outside. Would heartily recommend it. Communication with owner in advance regarding arrangements for keys etc. was very professional and also small requests we had during our stay were addressed immediately.
The places are okay, except that we had terrible problems with mosquitoes. I think they might give candles or warnings so that one can prepare. We got into the car almost Sunday morning at 3 o'clock and drove. Furthermore, the front door could not be unlocked either. Other than that, the place was cute.
Clean kitchen and bathrooms. But needs a good general spring clean - under beds and supporting poles etc. Linen was clean but a new mattress and new pillows would be a worth while investment. Fortunately, a previous comment alerted us to the mosquito problem (which I'm guessing is a general problem in the area) so we took along mosquito repellent plugs but an idea would be to install mosquito netting. Upstairs is a bit cramped. An idea would be to install fixed ceiling boards. Otherwise, the character of the house is wonderful. Thanks.
Unfortunately I was so sick so we didn't get to do anything touristy.
The silence and tranquility that the town offers was heavenly! And the children couldn't get enough of the stars in the evenings. We were all able to rest and stretch properly. Neat accommodation with everything you need, we will go again!
Our Cottage administration disappointing regarding directions about location and access to cottage. Although notice was given that we were 3 adults, only 2 sets of towels were given out. Request for extra set of towels was totally ignored. Small things would make the stay more pleasant, such as e.g. soap in every bathroom. Exterior light at front door not working.
The house is beautiful I will say that, but when we arrived we found dirty still wet glasses in the cupboards, so we tried to wash the dishes again, but no wash up cloth. The pots and pans provided were disgusting. It was brutally cold and the house was like a fridge, both front and back doors are not weather tight so a nice icy breeze was passing through the house and the backdoor was stuck on the floor and the outside handle was falling off. No fire starting materials on the first day. The upstairs room has holes in the wall just where your head goes (great for summer) but was too cold. Stairs dangerous for kids, mine fell down once.
Our family enjoyed staying at Ons Huisie. The kids enjoyed playing in the garden and was crazy about the beds on the mezzanine. They had everything we needed in the house. Perfectly located in a beautiful town.
Loved our stay, amazing garden.
