Bernardo helped with the directions by simply sending me a location, upon arrival everything was clean and tidy. We had a great time sitting at the indoor barbecue and visiting. I would definitely recommend this place to nature lovers!

Had everything we needed, indoor braai place, well used, as it was fairly cold and windy, outside fire/braai place used on last night, perfect evening. Lots of warm blankets. Hot shower and then ice cold, but we managed, all part of getting away.

Walking slowly in the field with your camera is a must. Every step there is a new wildflower surprise. Interesting how many Protea seedlings can be seen after the fire a few years back. It's a paradise.
It was quite a drive up the mountain, which we didn't expect. Our car was able to make it up but one should definitely not come with a luxury car. The scenery is incredible, in the morning you are surrounded by clouds, it's breathtaking. The accommodation is not the most comfortable but the location definitely makes up for it.

Here you can relax and get away from the daily hustle and bustle. It's rustic and simple, with everything you need. Fairly windy, but the indoor grill makes up for it.

My wife and I stayed here at Onverwacht on the 2nd night of our Pilgrimage of Hope and after 14 nights of sleeping in a different place every night, Onverwacht still stands out as one of the top places we've stayed!
This is a very special place with spectacular views from the units and from where ever you are. Which ever way you look it is peaceful and relaxing. Mountains, valleys, proteas, birds and buck - especially klipspringers. The cottages are well equipped, very clean with many special touches that make one feel welcome. The walks are strenuous and easy, the choice is yours. Sitting on the comfortable couch on the patio in the evenings looking at the stars which appear so much closer and bigger. A special mention to Bernado. Thank you for the way you looked after us. The day before we arrived a severe storm knocked out the electrical transformer. Bernado made sure we had everything we needed. Made it into an adventure. The lights were fixed the next day. Well done to all. We switched the lights off that night again.
It was by far one of our best weekends. The accommodation was cozy, clean and very nice. Our children (teenagers) enjoyed the nature very much. The cottage's decor was very nice. Everything we needed and more was available. I will recommend them over and over. Especially if one wants to get away from the city, noise and want to connect with your family and nature.
The Blushing Bride Cottage overlooks the mountains of McGregor. If you need nature and silence, this is the perfect place. The host was very helpful and we really didn't lack for anything. I will visit this place again for sure. It's a real gem.

It was amazing on top of the peak, with a beautiful view of the farmland and the mountains. There you really can say silence is golden. All you hear is nature. We will go again. Maybe in winter to experience the snow and the cosiness of the cottage with a nice fire inside.

We arrived the Friday night and was greeted with fantastic weather and absolute peace and quiet. The road leading to the cottage was a bit rough but doable on a small hatchback (just choose your line correctly). The cottage is rustic and basic. It is all you really need to get by. The view is absolutely stunning. The bathroom is tiny with the toilet right up against the wall (no legroom for taller individuals). One of the things we found a bit annoying was when the hikers arrived on Saturday, they were rather loud. There are virtually no walls between the cottages to dampen the noise. We knew our neighbours rather well after that night without ever meeting them. I am nit picking though. The spot is fantastic, and I will be returning soon. Perhaps next time in one of the individual cottages.

It was a great break! Away from the hustle and bustle - very nice to just switch off and relax while surrounded by nature. The attention to detail was a big surprise. They have absolutely think of everything. From a deck of cards for playing games to candles in case of power failure. The supply of wood was unlimited as long as you pay the minimum fee of R20 a bag which was a bargain in comparison with other places, and did I mention the wood was dry which was also nice. The beauty of the scenery speaks for itself and the 4x4 routes was also a breathtaking view with a great variety of plant species and birds.
It really was value for money - so far away from the city's noise and quiet with the sounds of nature. Accommodation is equipped with everything you need - warm water bottle an absolute winner! My compliments to the owners who take care of their weekend guests so well, and who give so much attention to detail. We'll definitely come visit again and bring our friends with!

It was an absolute pleasure staying at Onverwacht. The service was impeccable, the cottages perfectly suited to a city getaway and well priced. We did not do much, but used the opportunity to rest and amble through the incredible fynbos. A photographers dream and artists muse and a families much needed retreat.
The view is stunning, absolutely loved it. The house we stayed in was very sweet - clean and tidy and well set out. Bernardo was extremely helpful when we got a bit lost- a great host. We would absolutely love to go again soon - only this time I will check that there are no big groups celebrating very loudly until after 2 am. It is really sad that people go to a place like this and then pollute it with so much noise without a single thought to other travellers that actually went there to get close to nature.

What an awesome experience. Can't stop going on about the picture perfect place. The surroundings are indescribably beautiful. Accommodation met our requirements. Everything has been thought of, from candles to plenty of firewood. Was able to spend quality time with the kids without any television or network. Kids really enjoyed it too, which was a bonus. Lovely retreat away from everything and amongst the picturesque mountain scenery found between wine farms. We stayed for the evening in an old school cabin (sort of like the type your gran would decorate), but truly awesome and unique with the smell of rooibos as you enter the residence. This is a retreat away from everything to have solace and quality alone time with your family or partner/s (if you're that way inclined), an amazing hike leading to rock pools made for an awesome swim and refreshing interval to prepare you for the tough hike back up the mountain.
At Boesmanskloof there is incredible natural beauty and silence to clear your head and rest your soul! Fantastic.

Lazy weekend in the beautiful part of the world. Quiet, cottage has everything you need. Neat and clean. Bernardo checked up on us regularly to make sure everything was still okay. Dirt road to the cottages is better suited for vans, or 4x4 vehicles. It was a nice weekend getaway!
6 of us ladies decided on a weekend away in the bush. It was awesome. Our host Bernado was very friendly and helpful. The cottages are well equipped and spacious. A few of the ladies were not to happy that the hot water was only luke warm for their morning showers though. I would suggest a light shining onto the braai area as it was difficult to see in the dark. Over & above that we had a fantastic weekend! Thank you.
If I can mention a few things, there needs to be looked at the directions of the walking route, we got lost because the sign had fell off en we therefore didn't follow the correct route. The fridge didn't work right and froze all of our vegetable a salad ingredients that we had to throw away. We would have also preferred that the people do not play music, seeing as we were there to enjoy the quiet.
Bernardo made sure we got there! He contacted us a lot and we appreciated that. This is a trip for people who like to be 'in the outside', as my daughter said. The scenery takes your breath away. Beautifully furnished with plenty of firewood for the cold evenings. The walking paths are beautiful and a must do!

We had a nice and comfortable stay in Waboom 2. Bernardo is very prompt with his service and went out of his way to ensure that everything was right and according to our needs. Nature is breathtaking with her fynbos and multicolored flowers. The walking trails are easy to follow and a must for people with an average fitness level. The silence is audible at Onverwacht.
What a gem as far as nature is concerned! Compacta Mountain Train booked from 29/10 - 1/11. "Rustic" living is not a problem, but dirty living is! Maintenance falls short, experienced a severe storm and the roof almost blew off! Photos misleading, amenities misleading, secure parking misleading, activities on site misleading. What a disappointment! All I got that was the same as in the pictures was nature! The last km or so the dirt road is almost impassable. Ended up staying just one night, didn't have a problem getting my money back.

It was wonderful, walking trail to the icy mountain lake was wonderful! We enjoyed the peace and quiet, the pitch dark night and the stars that were so bring, you have tot see this. The owners were so friendly, Kept asking if everything was OK and they even provided ice.
We enjoyed it a lot. The natural beauty and peacefulness, the birds you can hear. Fresh air and even better the fact that there are no lights. It meant that no one was busy with there phones. Haha, biggest blessing, I'll say. We had everything we needed. It was our second visit to Boesmanskloof and first for our friends and they were completely blown away by it all. So we will see you again.
These quaint cottages are equipped in every detail for a rustic weekend in nature and the mountains. The owners were absolutely amazing in terms of response and helpfulness. Bernado went the extra mile to ensure that all of our needs were met. We actually walked from Greyton (Boesmanskloof) to the cottage and he was in constant contact to ensure that we arrived safely at our destination. Can highly recommend, the walk and accommodation.

Every city dweller should spend the night here at least once in his/her life. It is simply out of this world and we were privileged to spend 2 nights during our honeymoon in this lovely "Blushing Bride" mountain cottage. The owners definitely have a winning recipe here - back to basics. One is just that much more grateful for the luxuries one has at home but also envies the lifestyle this facility offers. We cannot rave about the experience and would recommend anyone to book here.

We decided at the last minute to go to Wacky Wine and after a helluva search we found Waboom Cottage at Boesmanskloof Onverwacht Flora to be the only available place to accommodate our group of 10. But we were so happy that that was our house for the weekend! The fact that it was a little way's drive from Robertson did not even matter in the end. The place is beautiful and the view something we will remember for ever. The house itself is perfect and fully equipped. It wasn't necessary to take anything except our clothes and food. There was also no chance of getting cold at night seeing as how there was more than enough bedding and even hot water bottles! The fact that there was no power was also no issue as there were enough candles and gas lamps in every room. We also agree with previous guests - the no electricity is part and parcel of Boesmanskloof Onverwacht's charm. We cannot wait to go again! Thank you to Sandra and Japie Oosthuizen for your help and hospitality. We appreciate it!
On arrival there was a welcome message in chalk on the door of the Blushing Bride Cottage. We were immediately carried away with the silence and beauty of our surroundings, before we were inside the beautiful abode. In the naturalness of Onverwacht, we were enveloped in love. Sandra and Bernardo were very helpful and welcoming. We thoroughly enjoyed the time together. My wife and I will definitely return to our newfound getaway heaven.

The stone houses with their rural decoration; the hospitality of our hosts; the hiking trails among the beautiful vegetation; the small game such as chameleons, hornbills and so many insects, the goats that come to graze on the site; the pools of water; slopes up the mountain and then slide-slide down to the bottom; the indescribably beautiful starry nights; the fog in the ravines; the wind - everything makes this experience something that words cannot do justice to. Come and experience it for yourself and tread carefully and carefully so that this special place will still be there for our descendants.

The house was pretty clean when we arrived at the cottage although that's how it looked because we arrived in the dark. On Monday morning we cleaned under the beds and everywhere and I would just like to recommend that the owners will address their staff and that she will please clean thoroughly and not superficially.

It is a nature lover's paradise. We went hiking with the kids on the circular route. The weather was not great on the mountain but was nice in the town. The Lord Wine Estate has exceptional wines, which is close to the accommodation.
We had a wonderful stay here. Japie and Sandra both came to say hello in person and often came to hear how things were going. The cottage was beautifully equipped and a lot of attention was paid to detail. We really enjoyed it. Really good value for money!

Here you will find true tranquility with a breathtaking view of the mountains and valley. It is the ideal place to go when you want to rest and escape from the busy city life. There are nice walking routes that you can follow to see the beautiful surroundings.

Comfortable mountain lodge for those who don't want to pitch a tent, but want to be close to nature. Nice indoor fireplace and braai that warmed up the kitchen wonderfully and turned a cold weekend into a lovely weekend of socializing and cooking.
We stayed in the tiny but very romantic Blushing Bride. Upon our arrival, everything was ready and ready for us. It is everything we hoped for and more. There are enough lamps, candles and matches as well as a flashlight for our nocturnal visit to the small house next door.
We have not experienced anything like this for a long time, our breaths were taken away by the sheer splendor of the surroundings and we will without a doubt return. Our accommodation in Blushing Bride was special and interesting. Especially because it was very "cozy" with the fireplace in front of the bed and interesting because we had a guest who came to visit both nights... a mouse that lives under the kitchen cupboard. I was a little worried about our safety, but that's probably just because we're used to the city stuff. Overall we had a great time and will definitely (with a bigger group) be back.

A real getaway. My solitary stay in the rustic Kliphuisie was refreshing. Unique location, natural beauty, gorgeous fynbos and helpful owners stay with you.
A very interesting and unique experience. It was however spoiled by a group who had booked out the four nearby semi-detached units and they decided to drink and party until 03:00 am on the Friday night. Won't be returning to Boesmanskloof Onverwacht Flora because of this.
We went home for the weekend in the Kliphuisie and it was indescribable!

The accommodation is adequate as the basic necessities were there. The only downside was that the fridge works with gas and doesn't get very cold.

Cottages are equipped with electricity.Remember to bring firelighters and wood. Wood is available on request at an additional charge and must be ordered when guests make their reservation. There is a braai grid but if one is used to their own braai equipment, please bring it along.
Warm water bottles are provided. Extra bed linen and towels can be provided on request.
Remember to bring your camera and binoculars for the beautiful sunset and sunrise moments as well as the breathtaking views.

The cottage can accommodate 2 guests. It is furnished with a double bed, and the bathroom is fitted with a shower. Linen and towels are provided. The cottage overlooks the whole Breede Valley with stunning views.
The cottage also features a dining and lounge area as well as a fireplace to keep warm during the colder days. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge and microwave. Guests can take a refreshing swim in the pool and enjoy the braai facilities available. The property overlooks the Gobos River with many refreshing rock pools to choose from.
