22 guests' feedbackWas very peaceful on the farm with only nature around us.
Very quiet farm. We could rest well. Dirt road is in very good condition and any vehicle can drive there. Jacolize and her daughter welcomed us and soon made us feel at home.
If one takes the opportunity to stay on a farm with spacious accommodation, this is just the place. We had a very nice stay. The "host" is amazing and spoiled us with a delicious freshly baked farm bread. The silence and simplicity of the Karoo is food for the soul.
The house is great and the dinner was delicious.
We only stayed one night so did not have the opportunity to explore the farm more. Even though we had venison pies for dinner, I went to make a fire in the lapa and just enjoyed the silence of the evening and watching the kids loving the space and freedom. A little bit of dust here and there, is understandable because it's an arid area with lots of wind. I would stay here again - for a lot longer.
Great experience. Ideal for family and friends.
The farmhouse is very large. Nice braai facilities. Everything is available. Just the short distance from the town is a bit long, but all worth it. It was really very quiet there.
Make sure to order the Karoo lamb chops to braai while enjoying the night sky that only the Karoo can offer. The old farmhouse offers spacious rooms with all the required amenities and a very nice braai lapa.
Had a wonderful stay. After a very busy year, we really enjoyed the farm on our first holiday. Deliciously grilled and visited. Nice and quiet, away from city noise and busy places.
My husband and I enjoyed our farmstay experience very much. The home is comfortable and very well equipped for guests. What made the experience even better was the complimentary homemade cheese bread, the butter, jam and cheese. The homemade venison pie and salad that we'd ordered were delicious!
Quiet, peaceful and nicely secluded.
Peaceful setting away from the main road. Feel very safe, extra options for food and drinks without having to drive into town.
My wife and I (and of course our 2 dogs) visited Oom Fasie's Plasie for 4 nights over Christmas. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome. Jacolize and Fasie carried us on their hands with genuine Karoo hospitality. The house has everything one needs and is very comfortable. Delicious Karoo mutton and venison can be arranged in advance. We were able to relax properly with the special experience of having the whole farm to yourself. We had a wonderful swim in the silvery clean farm pond and the dogs could lie down in the coolness on the lawn. We were sorry we couldn't stay longer and will definitely visit again!
We were travelling with 3 dogs and a full bakkie load, so after reading some of the previous reviews - terrible dirt road and people complaining about thorns in the fenced-off back section for the dogs, we were a bit apprehensive about booking at Oom Fasie se Plasie. However, we bit the bullet and booked. It was the best decision we could've made. From the moment we turned onto the dirt road, we wondered what some of the previous guests were complaining about. The road is not corrugated - it is actually very well-maintained. The entire experience at Oom Fasie se Plasie is one of a kind - we travel often, and this was the first time we encountered an owner of a self-catering establishment who sends you a message a few days before you book in to ask if they can take the meat out to defrost so you can braai, informs you that there will be a freshly baked loaf of bread (with butter, jam and cheese) to welcome you and even offered to make a salad. The owners were there when we arrived and made us feel right at home - the house is lovely and extremely comfortable, the kitchen is equipped with everything you need, and the honesty system they have set up means that you don't even have to unpack food to cook during your stay - you can just relax and unwind at the braai, under the stars after a long day on the road. (Do try the wors they have in the freezer - it is simply the best - you don't find wors like that in the shops). Our biggest concern when booking was the dogs (given that it is a working sheep farm) - and it turned out that there was absolutely no need to be worried. The back area is securely fenced with a lovely green lawn where they ran and played and got rid of all their pent-up energy while we sat outside with them at the braai. We loved every minute and could've easily stayed a week or more. Have already recommended it to other friends travelling with their dogs, and will definitely book it every time we drive down from Pretoria to the West Coast.
We were warmly welcomed to a farm stopover at Oom Fasie se Plasie. Freshly baked bread, apricot jam, cheese and butter was waiting for us on the kitchen table. The house was very comfortable with electric blankets on the beds. We would like to visit this farm again and spend another night or two exploring the area.
Oom Fasie's Plasie is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the openness and silence. The house is well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. We will definitely use Oom Fasie's Plasie again.
The service was great and we will definitely visit again.
Cozy, delicious food, friendly atmosphere would definitely recommend it, even for more than just an overnight stay. Beautiful farmhouse.
Everything worked well and we were received very kindly. We had a great stay, the silence is fantastic and we were kindly received by Jacolise and her husband. We are spoiled with a fresh farm bread. Can recommend them for sure.
We were received hospitably at the farm and everything is clean and tidy. They are helpful and we bought delicious lamb chops to grill. Sorry we didn't book 2 nights for the sake of the silence and tranquility.
Quite far off the main road. The dirt road to the farm is not too good following rains. The shower needs a hose fitted. The dogs had difficulty in roaming the lawns due to thorns. The house was neat and we had a peaceful overnight stay.
Do not look for all the fancy-schmancy highbrow facilities and style, it is not my rendition of 'perfect accommodation'. Plus the modest pricing for my pocket enables me. This farm was clean, friendly, with a warm family feeling in every nook, cranny and acre of dry parched land. With everything one might need or ask for in every way. Oh, and with the most ginormous farm reservoir full of clean, newly-pumped water (would be grand for a summer stay). Loved the two windpumps churning in the wind, music to the ears, a lullaby if turning whilst falling asleep. Thank you Oom Fasie se Plasie family. My walks way way out into the Karoo both night and day was heart-healing, pure medicine for the mind body and soul. Blessed in every way. Thank you again.
