The unit was clean, well equipped with absolutely everything I needed, including an electric blanket and extra blankets for the cold. I could happily sit in bed in the morning and drink coffee, while looking out over the stormy sea. Was incredibly good for my soul. I would definitely recommend it. Francois and his team were hospitable, explained everything and were constantly present on site. As a woman alone, I never once felt unsafe. Oom Piet Accommodation is excellently located, with many diversions in the area. I would definitely do it again.

These hosts went over and above the call of duty. Our microwave was not in working order and we informed them on Easter Friday, and Saturday morning they replaced it with a brand-new microwave. That was amazing service.
We were on our way to Cape Town from George and wanted to explore Gansbaai.
We arrived at a super friendly welcome, the accommodation was super clean. Very well situated and convenient to walk around the town. Our room had a stunning view of the harbour with the most amazing sunsets. Quiet and peaceful as well, they were fairly busy however everyone kept to the protocol of quiet time once the sun had set.

Everything was fine, but we were not warned ahead of time about the power situation. No provision was made that one could boil water or cook food. Dry wood, kettle to boil water on fire etc. Was without power for 48 hours and had to ask for communication about power situation.

We had to postpone our 1st booking and only this unit was available. We were assured that it would be sufficient for our group of 4 - and it certainly wasn't! Fortunately, our friends could not go with us. I don't think the unit justified the cost and would have appreciated if they would have suggested that we book the original unit on a different date.
Toilet was broken. Struggling with the flush that wouldn't stop. Hair in bathroom (definitely not deleted). Have lived in more than 100 guesthouses and this was one of the worst.

I would have preferred that the description of the accommodation would have indicated that unit 7 is on the first floor and that access is gained by about 10 steep wooden steps on the outside of the unit. We got way more than expected in the apartment. An iron and ironing board, hairdryer, pegs, dishwashing liquid, dish cloths, etc. On the day we left, we reported to Francois that the toilet seat wasn't secured enough as well as the washbasin's hot water tap was loose and needed to be tightened. This by no means dampened our stay.

We had a great time. House is comfortable, tidy and can certainly be recommended. There were clean towels provided every day and it was also great to come back from a beach outing and the dishes were washed and floors swept. The one room is just very small and there is not enough moving space or space for suitcases, it may be something that guests can take note of in advance.

Thanks Chantel, for the extra effort. Oom Piet Accommodation is as close to perfect as you can get. There is absolutely nothing we can criticize. The staff were helpful and professional, the room was clean, tidy with everything one needs and the location is a few meters from the harbour. One hears the waves breaking against the rocks. We had a nice weekend away. Our unit was at the end, closest to the sea, on the ground floor. This particular unit has enough windows that gave access to the lovely sea breeze and nice natural light. The mornings were peaceful had a nice local feeling with the neighbour's chickens crowing late in the morning as the sun came out. We had a nice braai the Saturday night on the braai they provided and to tell you the truth, I have nothing negative to say about Oom Piet Akkommodasie. Everything was nice and I'd definitely go back.
We toured the Western Cape on motorbikes for a week. Gansbaai was our second last stop so we were quite tired by then. Uncle Piet's staff are very friendly and we finished our tour the next day relaxed and rested. Uncle Piet's place is absolutely value for money.
Would recommend Oom Piet anytime. Apartment has everything you need, is neat and clean, with a lot of attention to detail. 5 stars. Would just love to have reading lights by the bed.

Oom Piet Accomodation is very neat and upon arrival they made me feel very much at home. Even when I went home, their friendly faces made me feel that I definitely wanted to come back.
We were warmly received by Francois and immediately felt at home. The unit was neat, clean and comfortable. We went for long walks and enjoyed the view of the harbor and the sea while we grilled meat. With binoculars you could even see large numbers of dolphins playing across the harbor. The few days were just too short, and we will definitely go there again.

The service was excellent. The flat was clean and had everything we needed during our stay. We liked the fact that it had an indoor braai. The coffee, tea, milk and sugar that had been put out for us, was thoughtful, as well as the rusks that were for sale in the flat. The soap by the basin and dishwashing liquid in the kitchen was also thoughtful as was the tea towels. The ironing board and iron was also handy.
Oom Piet Accommodation is close to the sea and the harbor of Gansbaai. De Kelders is also close to go whale watching. We really enjoyed our long weekend at Oom Piet's!

It was my first visit to Gansbaai and I was quite surprised by the beautiful surroundings, tranquility and friendliness of the people. There aren't many activities for non-school-going children and you have to be prepared to drive short distances to find activities to keep them busy, but it's worth it.

I was really surprised with the place. The owner was very friendly and helpful. The apartment we stayed in was clean, tidy and really value for money. There was even a grill and Blits put out for us. Gansbaai just doesn't offer much to do, but there are tons of places nearby to visit if you're willing to do day trips. Will stay there again if I drive past Gansbaai.

The place is very cute. The only negative comment is that some of the glasses were not washed properly and still had biscuit crumbs from the previous people in them. It would also be nice if there were more TV channels. Other than that really nice stay. Francois is friendly and helpful and we will definitely stay there again. Prices are also more than fair. It was a breathtaking holiday, full of fun and courtesy. Gansbaai's people's hearts beat warm and full of love!
The place is very neat, but very small. We took the double room and the second room was only big enough for a bed, no cupboards or drawers, just the bed and you had to struggle to get in and out. The room door can't even close. Other than that, not bad at all. Apart from that it was very neat with a beautiful view (because we were upstairs). The stairs are very steep, so not suitable for everyone. The owner is very friendly and overall the weekend was really lovely.
Room 4's TV doesn't work, read previous reviews - it's been mentioned! Good quality linen and the unit was very clean!
We had a very nice stay at Oom Piet's accommodation. Felt very welcome. The unit where we stayed is small, but very well equipped.
The host at Oom Piet, Elsie Swart, was very accommodating and friendly and the rooms very clean and neat and had a fantastic view. Safety however for vehicles needs to be stepped.
Stayed overnight at Oom Piet's on the way to Cape Town. Room was neat and clean with good security. But - the TV was terribly small and the picture was very poor. The bed was very uncomfortable with hard pillows and the mattress was old and warped. I had to raise one side of the mattress with a pillow to keep it level and the bed broke a little in the morning when I got up and pressed on the mattress with my hand. The price of the accommodation was reasonable, but I would not be able to recommend it.

Very tidy with everything you need. Unit was very tidy although the living area may get too much sun in the afternoon. The curtain is not sufficient to block the sun. Otherwise 100%.
Stayed in unit 4 ( 2 single beds) Maybe a bit small for a lot of luggage we had. TV didn't work but that wasn't a problem. Was very clean and the beds sleep well and that's important on a rest holiday.
Although the place is not ideally located (by the fish factory), the apartment itself was very clean and tidy with everything you need. We would have liked an individual barbecue area. Furthermore, there were no complaints - and the owner is extremely friendly and helpful.
The baths are just extremely small for older people.

Staying in town has the advantage of being a short drive away from the busy harbour of Kleinbaai where guests can watch the launching of the shark cage diving boats. Alternatively, take a drive to De Kelders and enjoy the panoramic views of Walker Bay and the endless beaches of the Die Plaat from here one can also enjoy the playful frolicking of the Southern Right Whales from July until November.
