Oppi Rivier offers rustic dormitory-style living on the Lamont Boerdery working farm, a mere 40 km from Mossel Bay. Guests can appreciate nature and the majestic beauty of the Gouritsrivermouth. From the moment you arrive on the farm you can truly feel the relaxing atmosphere. Experience the excitement of a fully operational grain and livestock farm, but also enjoy the noise of the ocean. With well known fishing spots and 10 km river frontage one can enjoy the entertainment the river has to offer. Eland and springbuck on your porch and a healthy flock of sheep can be your alarm clock in the morning.
Oppi Rivier can accommodate up to 20 guests in 2 dormitory-style rooms. The first dorm room contains 6 bunk beds. The second dorm room contains 4 bunk beds. Guests need to bring their own bedding and towels. The bathroom contains 4 private showers, 3 flushing toilets, and 3 washbasins. Hot water is provided by an outside wood-burning ‘donkey’ water heater.
There is a kitchen that is equipped with a gas stove, a gas fridge-freezer and a kettle for the gas stove. Guests need to bring their own cooking utensils, cutlery, crockery and glasses. There is a lounge area with couches.
Oppi Rivier has a massive central entertainment area with picnic benches and 3 large built-in braai areas. It is recommended that all food be made on the fire, so bring everything for your specific needs including wood, braai utensils etc. Seating for 20 people is provided, but you can also bring your own extra camping chairs.
12-volt electricity for lights only is provided by means of a generator. An additional fee for petrol will apply. Alternatively, you can bring your own camping lights and torches.
Bring your fishing gear and enjoy what the 10 km of river frontage has to offer. A valid fishing license is required if you intend fishing. Bring your own kayak or boat and enjoy the river breeze on the water. Enjoy a hike in the farm's game camp or around the farm.
