Lovely location, basic but all we needed. Could perhaps put a gas stove for load shedding and a few candles or at least a note to guests to prepare. There were no braai tongs. People next door were very loud and inconsiderate and had a baby, not ideal, but we were in the Park most of the time. The unit was cute and I would stay there again.
Fridge takes too long to get cold and overfreezes.
Double bed is a bit hard and uncomfortable.
Have a nice time. The place is peaceful and we saw many animals. The pool was just empty and the pipe to fill it was broken, but my husband more or less fixed it so we could use the pool.

There was time given to clean before check-in, was not cleaned at all, we should have washed everything. Cobwebs, dirt behind and under the furniture! Something to get sick of, no thanks, won't book there again.
Here you can relax. The animals come looking for their food from you. You have a good chance of seeing lions if you go down to Sea Cow Street in the river.
Oppidraai is very well located in Marlothpark. Pieter, the owner sent sufficient directions to find the place easily. Although there are 2 units on the same site which makes it suitable for a large group, the other guests didn't bother us at all. The unit is comfortably furnished for 6 people. The only negative thing is the fact that you have to bring your own toilet paper, black bags, dish soap and dish towels. There is a nice splash pool for the summer.

The unit (unit 1) is not massively large but perfect if you just use it for sleeping while exploring the surroundings and the game park. It has all the amenities that are needed and is very neat and clean.

The cottage is comfortably furnished with everything you need. Several animals came to say hello throughout the weekend and simply stayed for something to eat. We really enjoyed our time as usual.

The unit was clean and tidy upon our arrival. There are only small problems that need to be solved, e.g. the microwave doesn't look very good, the two-plate stove is ineffective and trips the power at the DB. The kettle takes 15 minutes to reach boiling point with hot water in it.
Very nice and animals come to visit you.
We also enjoy hanging out in the splash pool on the stoep, and braai area. Short maybe carport.
We were a group of 10 and enjoyed the stay there. The stairs to the upper berth are a bit steep for older persons.
All the necessary is there. Only the upper beds' mattresses are thin and the patio's table is lame. Furthermore, the unit was clean and tidy and offers fair value for money. Upper beds unfortunately uncomfortable for adults.
The caretaker in the residential area did not want to work.

Just what we wanted and expected.
Was a pleasant stay. The cottage had everything we needed. Could have been cleaner. Kitchen is very cramped.
The unit was clean and tidy when we arrived. After the deposit has been paid, you first get the letter that there are no towels, dishcloths etc. is not. Not everyone reads this, just take it as confirmation and then you get there and get the surprise and have to buy expensive things that you have at home. The linen is in very poor condition, it is torn and has spots on it. The mat in front of the toilet is in tatters. I took pictures as evidence. I really don't think this was good value for my money when I look at all of the site's other units I've stayed in.

We stayed in the 4 sleeper. Inside it was clean and tidy and well equipped. Would only suggest that the outside furniture is also cleaned before arrival. One leg of the outside table is broken. Would recommend the place!
Good accommodation for small family and/or couple. Facilities are adequate for short stays. Safe and well located.
The place is not bad, but there were a few things that put us off. If the owners pay attention to it, it will be 100%. No toilet paper in toilets (at least inform the guests about this. It is not nice to arrive there in the evening and see there is no toilet paper). The splash pool was very dirty. Couldn't use it. Clean it before guests arrive. The table and chairs outside on the deck were very dirty and sticky. We feel the owners could have cleaned it before we arrived. We had to wash it off (scrub) with soapy water before we could use it. Some of the chairs were broken and could not be used. Most of the glasses and mugs are chipped or cracked.
However, there was no toilet paper, or towels. The pool was dirty.

The key handover went smoothly. The accommodation was very neat and comfortable. Would definitely recommend to visitors to the Kruger National Park. Safe with alarm system.
We have been going to Oppidraai every year for the past four years. We really enjoy it there and the place is always neat and clean and everything is always in good working condition. It's just, this year, to our surprise, there wasn't a cleaner who came to clean. But otherwise there is no problem at Oppidraai, it is a nice place to stay, the owner Pieter always makes it as easy as possible for his guests and goes out of his way for his guests and as I mentioned, his places are always clean and tidy and well equipped. Will definitely recommend his places to others as I always do.
Beautiful cozy place. Perfect for a family v 3-4. Children enjoy the attic! High on my recommendation list for nature lovers and bird watchers.
Beautiful place with a few snags, including we had to take our own toilet paper, but there is no holder to hang it on, no trash in bathroom, and no wooden spoon and colander are kitchen cabinets, the sheet on the double bed was torn and bed full of glitter, looked like it hadn't been covered after previous visitors, but we had a lovely stay.
I was very happy, they could think about fixing the last bit of the gravel road up to the house. It is acceptable for a 4x4, but not for regular sedan. The road is very bad with stones.
We arrived on the Tuesday. The cleaner was still busy in the unit. In disbelief, the splash pool looked like a mosquito breeding ground. We specifically booked the place because there is a swimming pool. Spoke to owner and he blamed the handyman who in turn blamed the cleaner for condition of pool. Handyman arrived later after few calls. Dumped out pool water and poured in new water. On Friday he brought chemicals for the pool and promised he would bring a floater for the pool on Sunday - never brought. The kettle's lid was broken when we got there. The en-suite bathroom's toilet seat was broken and completely loose. The shower door is too short, so the water runs out of the door onto the floor. The loft was dirty and full of dust. The room doors need a cloth and soap. The outdoor kit had not been cleaned for a long time and was outside when we got there and not in the unit as stated. I feel the communication between the owner and the handyman and the cleaner definitely needs to improve, as we made the final payment a week ahead of time. So they knew we were on our way, but still the things were not fixed.
Brought a few things brought to the owner's attention, but he was more than willing to help. Will definitely go to Oppidraai again.
Definitely value for money, will pay a little more per night for cleaning services, especially with 2 teenage boys.

Very tidy, enough cupboards in the kitchen and rooms. Would have appreciated toilet paper after a long drive and full bladder, and the lower toilet keeps leaking (makes a lot of noise). Egg yolks and dish soap may be on the list. Otherwise very nice, close to Marloth's shops.
We stayed in one of Pieter's places that year. The previous year at a different location. Again we are not disappointed. Many thanks to Pieter for providing such top accommodation at extremely reasonable prices. Would happily recommend both places. The incident with the lock not working was resolved within a short time after hours. I believe many other places in that area can go to Pieter and light a candle about how a service should be provided in such cases.
It was wonderful to stay like this in the forest, where the animals still come to visit you. The house was very comfortable, has everything needed. Hope to stay here again in the future.
We received the best service from the beginning. Our staff enjoyed every minute. The 4 bedroom place is small, near and very peaceful. There isn't any desks or work space in the place, but who would want to work inside it you can work on the patio? It would therefore be nice to have a power point outside.
We had a small issue with not being able to get the keys to enter our chalet, but it was quickly resolved. The staff at Oppidraai were very helpful and did everything they could to assist us. The chalet was comfortable and met our needs and we will definitely be back. Value for money. Thank you to to the owner for his friendliness. I did sent him an SMS after our stay to report that there were cups and glasses missing when we got there. He said he was already in the process of replacing them.
We had a very nice stay. The children enjoyed it tremendously and looked forward to the animals that come to visit our house every day. There were giraffes, warthogs, impalas and kudus around our house every day. Air conditioning inside the unit spoiled us terribly and kitchen was adequate with what we needed. Many thanks to Pieter who was available when you needed him.
We enjoyed our stay. Everything was neat and the unit had a fantastic hot shower. My only negative comment would be that the braai wasn't cleaned and we had to clean the old coals out ourselves before we could braai.

The chalet is clean, modern and very well equipped. We enjoy walking and it was wonderful to have the two shopping centers within walking distance to buy what we needed. A bush goat ram, kudus, warthogs and an ibex also came to visit us where we said goodbye to the day's departure in peace on the stoepie (with our braai fire nearby).

My wife emphasised the shower, nice and strong water flow. Something else to the other places we've stayed at in Marlorth Park. There was no toilet paper in one of the bathrooms, that was quite a problem. For us it was not a problem, because we always take along. Light in bathroom did not work, but we changed it ourselves, for the price of R9, that;s not money. Will definitely see us again soon.

Geen plek om kos te maak in gure weer. Daar is net n karige 2 plaat stofie wat so klein is twee potte pas nie langs mekaar nie. Die grootste risiko is die oop floresent buise wat in arms reach is en die buise s nie beskerm deur perspex cover nie. Dit kan sonder moeite gedreek word en die poeier binne is baie gevaarlik. Andersins aanvaarbaar.
Was disappointed to find the 2 houses advertised are actually attached, exposing you to the other guests noise and children. Should have been so indicated ahead of time. The 2 patios are right next to each other, with poor partitioning. The self-catering facilities are extremely inadequate: loose two-plate stove, no pots/pans and limited utensils. Crackware is good quality and sufficient. Would recommend blunting the corner of the sharp shower barrier, almost broke toes getting to the toilet at night. Really appreciated that everything was nice and clean.

Will go there again for a holiday, the place is clean and you can see that attention is paid to the place, love the animals that walk around the house, for the 5 days we were there we saw quite a lot from the porch . All that wasn't nice was that we couldn't use the pool when it was 40+ outside because it was very dirty and full of mosquito larvae, was already looking forward to it.
The place is very comfortably equipped and provided with everything you need. The best part is that in the morning you can enjoy your morning coffee outside with animals and birds that come to greet you.

We had a fantastic time. Comfortable, clean and conveniently equipped, location ideal. I would maybe have put in a stove, but that's probably just because I love cooking up a storm. Every night the Lion King roared and on the last morning on our way home he greeted us one last time. We didn't want to come home! Oppidraai will definitely see the Van Zyls again. It has a private braai area, verandah and an exclusive use splash pool, a joy but definitely not a sparkling city pool.
