Tzaneen is a fantastic base from which to explore the surrounds. Situated at the foot of the Northern Drakensberg, it has spectacular scenery and fantastic attractions waiting to be explored. Swim in the crystal pool at Debengeni Falls, zipline through the trees with Magoesbaskloof Canopy Tours (26 kilometres), and enjoy a drink in the trunk of one of the largest baobab trees in the world.

We had a nice stay. It was clean and tidy. Will stay there again. I suspect the gas geyser was not yet set up for winter. The hot water in shower was not hot enough for cool winter morning.
We had a warm welcome and the chalet was clean and neat. The mattresses were of good quality to ensure a good night's rest. The hippo entertained us for about 20 minutes. The establishment is well situated, there's safe parking for your vehicle and the owners are very pleasant people. The electricity, Wi-Fi and DStv always worked. We will definitely be back.

Oppieoewer is one of the best places I've stayed at for work. We had to stay over for 17 days in Limpopo, Noordwes and Gauteng. These wooden chalets on the banks of the Letaba River just outside Tzaneen offer great views of the river. The owner is friendly and helpful and made us feel at home with some extras like wood, ice and even did our washing and ironing as minimal cost. I would recommend Oppieoewer to anyone looking to get away or, like us, looking for a place for two people in a beautiful environment. We even saw a hippopotamus on the first evening on the opposite bank getting our to graze!
We just want to thank you again for your hospitality. It was one of the holidays we will never forget. The invitation to go with you to the Wolkberg was incredible. Alta's chocolate cake for Marit's birthday was not only a big surprise, but also a hit. Our safety on Saturday night was also a big priority for you. Thank you for helping with the evacuation. Little Gerrit can really touch and his manners are top notch. Please also tell him how much we appreciated him. You are lovely people who give so much of yourselves. The world needs a lot more of your kind. Fortunately, Sasha does not have tick fever at the time and is on a very strict diet. Bushman can also now reign fully again. The environment and people were a wonderful experience. Thanks to Gerrit and Alta for their hospitality and the way they share their gem with other people, not only where they live, but also the environment.
We moved to Oppie Oewer at the last minute and Gerrit and his wife were a blessing! We were treated like 5-star guests from the first moment. We arrived with a car full of food after moving from accommodation and even if they are not fully self-catering, Gerrit did everything in his power to help us. We are really "above and beyond" satisfied with Oppie Oewer and recommend it to anyone. Room is small, but the service, people and location make up for it 110 times!
Keep up the good service and kindness.
