44 guests' feedbackIf you are looking for a quiet off the grid break, Oppieplaas is the place. It was clean and tidy. The nature and starry sky are special. We only stayed one night and would definitely recommend it to others. It is very basic so if you are looking for a 5 star break this is not the place. It is located close to Prince Albert and right at the entrance to the Swartberg Pass.
What a little gem! From the outside, apart from the beautiful view, it looked nothing special, but open the door and voila! Cuddly and comfortable, very cutely laid out with comfortable seating and bed. Kitchen has everything needed and the windows on either side of the cottage make it light and cheerful inside. We would easily recommend this place to others. Just remember, no phone reception or WiFi signal available.
All you need, good value for money, costs less than in town but nice and close to town with the luxury of a large unit to yourself in total tranquility.
Beautiful place and the mountains were special.
If you are looking to get close to the real Karoo, then Oppieplaas is heartily recommended. Set on an original Prince Albert Valley farm, littered with evidence of its rich history, it is difficult to get this close to nature and real solitude. If you need to constantly stare at your phone, don't stay here. If you love an evening braai on a lekker stoop, with a cold one in hand, whilst watching the birds roost before the Milky Way emerges, this is your place. Andre and Louisa are grand hosts and full of local knowledge.
Small but clean and tidy, ideal for 2 people. From the nice large porch with braai area you have a beautiful view of the mountains. Good resting place because there is no WiFi and no cell phone signals.
Pleasant place and very peaceful. Neat and clean. Unfortunately the gas hot water system was not working properly and so there was no hot water. However, I believe this was a small problem that can be fixed. As there is no mobile phone reception, owners could not be contacted. Nevertheless, we had a nice stay for the one night.

Be sure to tell the owner of your anticipated time of arrival, as there is no wifi or cellphone signal.
The farmhouse with a nice view, nice fresh air, nice walking paths make it a pleasant experience.
The view from the house to the mountains is fantastic with all the birds in the trees making it worth sleeping over there. The hostess is also very helpful and down to earth person.

Nice and private with a beautiful view every day. Really enjoyed the walking trails on the farm with all the beautiful rare plant species! People who go there just have to realize that it's the Karoo and water is scarce, so don't expect a luxurious shower experience. The house has everything you need. If you want to downsize and rest this is the place!
A beautiful little house, nice view of the mountain, very close to the picturesque town of Prince Albert. I would recommend it for winter or summer for people who like tranquility and simplicity. Great hosts.

Picturesque mountains for a view and a lovely veranda for sitting and reading and grilling meat. Very nice and private and just far enough from Prince Albert to enjoy the lovely town but still feel in nature. Host very helpful!
Geyser's water was boiling, if you then added some cold, the geyser turned off. The volume and temperature can be set on the geyser itself, but only saw this after the time.

Very neat and well furnished. Struggled with hot water but that was thanks to the incredibly cold weather. Will definitely visit there again, the mountains and surroundings are beautiful.

Would definitely recommend if you want to stay a bit out of town with a wonderful view of the Swartberg. So quiet that you hear the mountain whistling when the wind blows.
Andre and Louis were very friendly when we finally got into the house. Everything was closed and we struggled to get hold of them. The house was well equipped and very tidy. There is a gas geyser, but it doesn't work properly, so we took a cold shower.
Oppiplaas is a lovely place. Definitely go there on a regular basis.

We really enjoyed the weekend at Oppieplaas. Andre was so friendly and hospitable, made us feel like family right away. The house is beautifully renovated, neat finish and there is everything you need. The Jacuzzi outside was a fantastic relief from the hot Karoo sun. The silence gives you a chance to become human again. Conveniently located close to Prince Albert and the surrounding wine farms. Nice excursion also to "O for Olive", with a tour, olive tasting and lunch there. Andre regularly made sure everything was ok and that we didn't have any problems. It is definitely value for money!
We were just unhappy about the water, hot water is just too cold and very weak. So much so that we didn't shower the next morning, because you get colder when you shower, if you don't shower. Furthermore, the place was very clean and tidy.
Was great. The cottage is very well furnished and you can see that someone has taken great care to make everything perfect. It is blissful on the stoep with a fire going and a glass of wine in hand. Will definitely visit again. Andre and his wife are very friendly and hospitable.

The house is comfortable and overlooks the mountain. Andre and Louise gave us a hospitable reception. Just the place to be if you want to get away from the hustle of the city.
What a lovely place to stay. We stayed there for 3 nights and will definitely go back again. André and Louise warmly welcomed us and immediately made us feel at home. For us they are now Uncle André and Aunt Louise. The cottage itself is secluded and private. It was clean and tidy and there was no shortage of anything. The kitchen is well equipped, the bed is comfortable and the living room very cozy. It really felt like a "home away from home". It's not a luxury boutique, but it's not what we were looking for either. We will definitely be going back during the winter to enjoy a little wine in front of the fireplace. (Go for a visit to the Prince Albert market on a Saturday and buy some of their homemade products - delicious and unique!)

If you want to have some quite time and enjoy the Big Sky country nestled in amongst beautiful folding hills, then Oppieplaas will give you that and more.
We were three middle aged men on a golf tour and clearly stated this in our enquiry. To our surprise we find one double and one single bed. Fortunately, the friendly management was able to bring in another bed.
Really enjoyed the stay. Will go stay there in summer again to test out the Jacuzzi!
We had such a nice stay. Neatly equipped. Close to the tar road and the town with the complete farm- and Karoo-feeling. Refreshes the soul.
Beautiful scenery, peaceful silence, more stars than I have ever seen and a clean and tastefully decorated cottage with perfect attention to detail.
