I stayed and slept very well. The place is neat and clean. I was very calm. The breakfast was delicious and I also knew exactly when it was loadshedding. The owners and the staff are very friendly. My transportation to and from the airport was prompt and on time. definitely see me again.
We checked in late in the evening and were immediately helped to our room. The bed was comfortable and the environment was quiet. We had a nice shower and enjoyed breakfast and then we were on our way again.
It was very pleasant. The rooms are really not nice. Bathroom part of the room, right in front of the bed. Shower roof has rust and water damage. Toilet is too small and can cause a smell because there is no ventilation. Beds are fast asleep. Room too close to the kitchen, kitchen staff make terrible noise. Food was good, except they don't cater for people who don't eat pork. The fact that they do give food is very good. The budget room was much better than the room, bathroom separate. Just do a little maintenance everywhere and then the place is up to standard. AIRCONS PLEASE. Lady at reception was extremely helpful and very pleasant, she is definitely an asset to the guest house.

Friendly welcome, very well located in terms of the airport. Had a delicious breakfast. The one guest had to leave before breakfast and had received a food package the night before.
Very nice stay. The open plan bathroom was just strange to me and I would prefer more privacy in that regard.
Place is clean, that's where it stops. Buildings and especially the rooms need an urgent renovation. Milk bag in fridge was opened and already used. This was reported to reception. Both bedside lamps do not work. Shower head sprays the whole place full of water and leaks. Walls peeling off in rooms have vapor damage.
We booked a deluxe room but got towels with holes in them. One shower has no place to hang your things and the other's shower head only sprays one jet. The kettle is on a shelf, but there is no wall plug. We had to leave the kettle on the floor next to the bedside table. The beds have warm blankets, but there is not enough room for everyone. The wall plug behind the one bed does not have a two-prong plug. Refrigerator in our room did not work. The curtain has spots that don't look neat.
Units can do with air cooling and standby power.
Guests next to us came back noisily at 1am, turned on their TV and chatted loudly until after 1.30am. The breakfast quality was poor with the cheapest quality food. Guesthouse qualifies as 3 star, not 4 star.

The shuttle service early in the morning or late at night to and from the airport, as well as the safe storage of our vehicle, made our trip to Cape much easier. Johan and Tirsa are excellent host and wife and very helpful. Clean and tidy setup with friendly staff. Clean bedding and rooms. If you want to be terribly critical, you will probably find something small wrong here and there, but we will return again and again.

The property has a lovely garden. Very pleasant to relax in. Staff were helpful and friendly.
People were friendly, breakfast was nice. Everything was clean and tidy. Room was very cold in the evening (door seal not very good), but there was a heater and electric blanket that saved us. Room was well equipped. There is a gas geyser that must be used correctly to have hot water. There were no carports, but there was open parking in front of the room. If the parking lot is full, you can park under trees (just be aware of tree glue on the car). We had a great stay, thank you.
Second visit to ORT Guest House. Generator right next to our room kept us awake with load shedding even though the generator was not for our room. Will visit again. Very conveniently close to the airport.

Sorry the area's power cables were stolen when we were there. Had to struggle with 1 light (provided) in the dark. No hot water in the morning.
I would only suggest to make bathroom part more private. Especially if you don't just have your spouse with you. And with a bit of upgrading or maintenance work it will be a beautiful piece of property. And look at hot water facilities at outside rooms.
The generator didn't even power up the lights. Once the generator was off there was another sound that kept us awake. Maybe a cooler or something? Anyway, did not sleep a wink. Bar fridge located right next to the bed. Best part was Nelson.
The breakfast was excellent.
The photo on the ad is of the main building. I got an outside room. Much smaller than expected, had to turn diagonally to fit on the toilet, cigarette burns on the 'throw' over the bed. In short, the outer rooms are not representative of what one expects from the main photo.
The room was very cramped and needs lots of maintenance (big crack in wall). The owners need to spend some of the money generated on upgrading and maintenance. Beds are very uncomfortable. We were told there was Wi-Fi - so weak you could barely link onto it - ended up using my data.

My partner and I landed at 22:00 they where ready for us at 23:00 and happily helped us with our luggage and room it was very clean and they provided coffee and water. Overall very satisfied.

Unfortunately there was no hot water and it didn't appear to be getting fixed anytime soon. We have stayed here twice now and the staff is very friendly and helpful, but of course hot water is great to have.
Will recommend the place to other people. Best breakfast. Room 5's bath plug just doesn't seal well and one of the power plugs doesn't work but otherwise everything was 100% thank you.

We were very well received and found the room comfortable, clean and tidy. However, the blower heater that was in the room was not working effectively, kept going on and off, it sounded like a short circuit every time. We called the reception number several times but got no answer. Then just turned off the heater and went to sleep cold.

I travel to JHB on a monthly basis and therefore used most of the guesthouses in the Pomona area. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped and the place is beautiful, tidy and well maintained. However, they are falling flat on the minor details that make a difference to a business traveller. ORT Guesthouse is okay, but nothing special. I found the following annoying: They do not serve supper (important since I usually do not have transport when there - which means I have to walk around 3 km return to nearest restaurant or order take aways). They do not have a pub (important since I like to relax over a beer after work). Management and staff are not warm and welcoming - at no stage did I get the feeling that I am a valued guest. . No aircon in the rooms. No suitable desk/work facility in room. There was a tiny table, but no chair. There are better guesthouses in the same price range in the area.
Recommendation: Suspend bath in rooms where more than 2 guests stay.

My stay was pleasant, no serious complaints, but maintenance work needs to be done. Just a general feeling of neglect.
There is a miscommunication between the website's payment and its passing on to the guest house. I settled the final amount via the website 4 days before our arrival, however it was not passed on to the guest house, and we had to pay again on arrival before we could go to our room. At least the matter was later sorted out and we got our refund yesterday. The breakfast was really amazing. However, the rooms need some attention.
OR Tambo must have been beautiful in its day (as the online images show) but now it is tired, well worn and shabby. It's obvious that corners are being cut to save costs. Cheap plastic dustbin, strange milk sachet that cannot stand up on its own once opened, old thin duvet, well used, thin and yellowed pillows. Skipped breakfast as the self-service breakfast nook was unclean, empty coffee pot, empty milk and lady on duty in no hurry to refresh anything. It did however service our needs for a very quick, reasonably priced overnight stop not far from the airport. Nelson provided a good shuttle service.

We were received very kindly. The staff were friendly and everything was neat and clean. Had a very peaceful time and the food was great.
They are happy to help and are friendly and tidy, we will certainly use them a lot in the future. They might invest in Aircons later but it hasn't been a problem and what leaks are they do a lot extra to help their holes especially with the shuttle etc.

Very nice and tidy clean room and bathroom with complimentary small bottles of hand cream and shampoo. Queen who cleans room was very friendly. Delicious tasty breakfast with enough variety in a peaceful atmosphere. Lisa who makes eggs/omelettes is very friendly (also her assistant) and a great asset to OR Tambo. Hope the management appreciates their workers and takes good care of them. Gardens and pool are beautifully maintained. Guest house in area that feels unsafe especially in the evening, but guest house is safe behind adequate gates and fences. Very neat and clean. Towels a little tired, but no smoke or musty smells in the room. We slept in the family room after our return from an overseas trip. The beds are very comfortable. Bathroom is clean and spacious. Breakfast is nice with enough food. Staff is very friendly. The only recommendation would be that signage be installed from the highway to make it easier to find the guest house, especially in the evening.
Very private in room 3. Guests next door hung out on the porch outside our window all Sunday afternoon and evening. We silenced them just before 10 o'clock, on a Sunday evening. Because of the noise, we had to close our window and door. It was very stuffy and cramped in the room as there was no fan or air conditioning.

The main advantage of this guest house is its location to the airport and it is very budget friendly. The rooms are basic but neat and clean. The service and reception are friendly and helpful. A good option for an over night stay before or after a flight.

It's just an okay guesthouse.
I entered the address, 177 East Street. Unfortunately, I didn't see that it took the Benoni address, which unfortunately caused us to end up at a milk factory. We tracked down the guesthouse's number after which I called them. The lady who picked up was unsympathetic and not friendly at all. She even jammed the phone into my husband's ear. Very unpleasant experience.
