We were well received by the workers. Although it is very sad that the farm looks very bad, the condition of the farm is dilapidated. The unit we stayed in was nice, but not worth the price. The drinking water was brown. The farm may have to say earlier that you have to bring your own water. I believe that the prices for the farm's accommodation are so high as to measure the 'neglect' of the farm itself. Definitely not a 5 star post for me.

Unit occupied was Delportshoop Cottage. We were 4 adults traveling together (2 couples). Accommodation was spacious and theoretically ideal. However, we encountered severe cold and rainy weather, which highlighted the following problems: Severe smell of smoke upon entry due to fireplaces in unit. No hot water due to faulty gas geysers installed. It was extremely uncomfortable in the chilly weather, with no hot bath/shower. The manageress and factotum came to look at our request, but could not find a solution to the problem. Furthermore, there were leaks everywhere - in the single bed room, water flowed down the chimney, and the toilet kept running when flushed. The roof at the braai place was leaking everywhere, as was a gutter that poured its water into a stream right before the braai place opened. Overall, it lacks upgrading and maintenance.

We had an absolutely wonderful time. This venue helps one to relax and unwind. Our only disappointment is that we could not secure a booking of more than 4 nights. We tried making another booking for end Jan-beginning Feb 2023 but could not secure any bookings for more than 2 nights which is testimony of how popular this venue is.

The house has everything we need. It was a lovely visit. Aletta is a special person, kind with a soft heart. We enjoyed every moment. Was lovely to wake up to all the bird sounds.

Upon arrival, we were kindly greeted and given directions at their reception. Our ordered snack board from their menu was delivered quietly and discreetly. We found the lights and TV on and turned the TV off when we arrived at Mosesberg cottage. Close everything and be vigilant against baboons. Damp wood was delivered as ordered, but bring dry wood with you. Super Spar in Robertson is selling at 50% less. The walk in the mountains was also wonderful, despite the rain and mud. With a swimming pool at each cottage and private braai facilities, it can only be more festive in the summer. Breathtaking place. Would love to go again.

Always warm and friendly welcome from the staff. Cottage clean and filled with necessary appliances. Cozy fireplace and aircon, even a lovely heated blanket if you want the bed warm before getting in and feel that cosy warmth in the cold winter days. Love catching the morning sun at the back with breakfast then lounging on the loungers for some sun and a cocktail on the front deck watching the sun set and seeing the cross light up on the little mountain. Definitely a place to visit, we love staying at the Mosesberg cottage and have been there about 5-6 times and will be back. The beauty surrounding the cottage is breathtaking.

When we arrived, we didn't know about the R500 fee we had to pay in case something breaks or gets damaged. We paid R260 for cleaning service which we thought was included in payment when we booked, so we had to spend money we didn't budget for.

The staff were very helpful and friendly, you can see they have a passion for what they do. The accommodation is very nice, extra effort has been made with fresh flowers and toilet paper, snuff boxes and towels all very nicely made up. Everything you might need has already been thought of and the accommodation is fully equipped. I also like that they offer extra services like picnic baskets, barbecue packs and snacks. There is also plenty to do in the area with beautiful eateries and wineries just around the corner. It's also kid-friendly, so next time the whole family can go along. Will definitely recommend them and visit again.

Orange Grove can definitely be recommended. Private, friendly, accommodating, neat, spacious and beautiful. The area is picturesque and close enough to the town and surrounding farms for a quick zip around. We had problems with Wifi network, but the staff were nimble and quick to help. Very nice warm electric blankets, fireplace etc for the winter. Was too cold to barbeque (outside) when we were there, but looks like it will be very nice in warmer weather. So too with the pool and outdoor shower.

It's a very nice house and by the mountains. Everything very neat. The smaller room upstairs could do with a towel rail and the bathroom light in the smaller bathroom upstairs is very dim. There was WiFi and DStv, but because load shedding nothing worked unfortunately.

We didn't get our deposit back until Thursday 6 days after we checked out after having to ask 3 times. The third time I had to be incapacitated against my will.

"Bit of an anti-climax."

The chalet is beautiful and very well-equipped, however there is definitely room for improvement. There is a fish moth problem, which we were told they are aware of and will attend to when they have a chance as they currently have back-to-back bookings. The Wi-Fi signal (and cell reception in general) is very weak and as a result my card did not not work when having to pay the breakage deposit and I had to EFT when I could finally log into my banking app after receiving several WhatsApp messages from reception. The Peer Dam hiking trail is definitely not 45 min as communicated to us and the trail is not maintained either. If an incident should occur whilst on it, one will be in grave danger as there's no signal on the mountain. I was also baffled by the additional cleaning fee (including wood which is stated as complimentary on the booking confirmation form). We also had to wait for the chalet to be inspected by staff before we could check out and be refunded for the breakage deposit.

We visited your farm a year ago for a weekend and lived in Delportshoop. It was a great experience and we have been telling people all about it. So we thought of booking another weekend this year, but decided to try Fineview cottage. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed this time. To start off with, I was asked twice about my arrival time, after I told the lady that I will let her know when we are on our way. We did not plan to check in early or late, so I don’t see the need for being asked all the time for my arrival time. I understand that you want to plan, but it felt a little bit too much for me. Then we arrived at the cottage. We were shown to the cottage and on arrival were greeted very friendly. No physical checks were done upon our arrival at the cottage. Later on, we found quite a few issues with the cottage. We have addressed it with the property manager Yolande (who did the check before we left). 3 of the kitchen light bulbs don’t work. The right sink of the basin in the kitchen leaks even when the plug is in. There are only two cloths in the kitchen. Not enough if you stay for a weekend. The tap at the bathroom sink in the left room is loose and moves every time you open the tap. Both showers are leaking at the shower head. Toilet roll holder broken in right bedroom. Shower caddy in left room’s bathroom only has one screw. Paint in left room is terrible against the ceiling. Darker spots. Blinds broken in left bathroom and hanging on one hinge in the kitchen - other hinge broken/loose. Curtains in living room are hung very badly and loose. It feels like it is going to fall off if you pull it as quite a few of the plugs holding it up are missing. We are not very fussy people, but all of this added up to an unpleasant experience. We were also asked if we would be there for the departure check, which we didn’t really understand. Everything that was checked when Yolande was there were the maintenance things. I don’t see why we had to be there, as this had nothing to do with us. We felt a little bit funny about this, because we did not have this the previous time, and if you look at the list above, this was clearly not done before we arrived. We would like some feedback on this and expect compensation in some form for the inconvenience caused. You are rated as 5-star, and that is what we paid for, but we don’t feel that we got half of that in this experience.

We couldn't have asked for more - exceptional service, attention to even the smallest detail (like fresh flowers in every room)! The food is fantastic and pack your mountain bike, there is a route for every level of experience.

The cottage was spacious and spotlessly clean. Beautiful view of the mountains and river. It was strange to sleep without burglar bars and security gates (given the crime in SA), but there is an alarm. Nevertheless, we felt very safe and it was wonderful to be so close to nature. We saw beautiful birds and heard the frogs croaking at night. The food we ordered was lovely fresh and tasty. The only disappointment was that no special effort was made for my husband's birthday (the contact person did ask ahead of time if we were celebrating any special occasion and I informed her) - that bit of pampering was missing.

We had a wonderful stay. The unit is very private and surrounded by mountains and vineyards. The birdlife is fantastic. There is plenty of safe walking space. The swimming pool on the veranda is a great treat. The unit itself is spacious and has everything you need. Bathrooms are spacious and luxurious. The fireplaces in the living area and rooms are a winner. The barbecue area is sheltered and perfect for visiting. Access to wine farms in the area is easy, but you can also just relax wonderfully on the farm. I would go back anytime.

We were warmly received by Carlos, the owner as he personally took us to our unit and explained everything. The unit was very neat and clean and wood for the fireplace and braai was replenished every day. We used the hiking trails and felt very safe. The units are nice and private. View in summer months over the green vineyards should be beautiful.

Orange Grove is truly a majestic venue. It’s secluded, quiet, and beautiful. The cottage is functional and had enough kitchen utilities to serve two people, and enough furniture to make it a comfortable stay. The bed, furniture, towels, gowns, and bathroom were clean, as was the kitchen utilities. The floors however were not. You’re charged extra if you want room service to clean your room. They don’t have an ironing board, you must pay the R300 per hour charge for that. They do however clean and restock your braai facilities everyday. The killer for me was the bed. For three evenings I slept with great difficulty as it was lumpy and every movement from my spouse was like rocking a boat. The room has no aircon so it was hot. Is it worth a five star rating? Not with a bad sleeping experience, no aircon and charged room service. I’ve frequented many venues and for me five star means aircon, a quality bed and room service at your beck and call. The view, location, space of room, shower, kitchen facilities, swimming pool and area are wonderful though. We also received a nice welcome gift - a bottle of wine - when we arrived, which was a nice touch. So, if they address my issues, no one could fault them.

My amazing boyfriend treated me to a night here on my birthday. They gave us a warm welcome, after which we were showed to Fine View Cottage.The cottage is beautiful and spacious with a spectacular view of the vineyards and the mountains. I was surprised with a picnic basket for lunch, which they set up at our cottage next to the pool. The food was amazing (there was enough for dinner as well) and their attention to detail made it very special. Later that afternoon on the terrace, just before the sun set, my boyfriend proposed. Needless to say it was the best birthday yet and I would not have changed a thing. I would highly recommend Orange Grove. Do yourself a favour and indulge in 2 nights accommodation. You will not regret it. We will definitely be returning for an anniversary celebration.
