Reception gave us the choice on arrival to upgrade accommodation to a room with its own bathroom and air conditioning, which we really appreciated.
Would love to stay a little longer next time. Perfect, beautiful river view was spectacular. We loved it so much. And the food was delicious. We had lunch and dinner, it was yummy.
Service was great, staff are very friendly and helpful. Will definitely visit them again.

The location on the river is beautiful, and the cottage had everything that we need.
It was exactly what we expected and needed.
We had a great stay, but the unit needs some attention. Washbasin door hinge was broken. The windows look like they haven't been washed in months. Lovely sunshine in the morning through the living room window, but then you stare at the dirty panes. Air conditioners also need attention. The walls between the two units are not very well insulated, so if neighbors talk loudly, you hear everything.
We were unfortunately not impressed with a few things. 1. The sliding door of our unit was incredibly difficult to open and close. The door was off its track and we were struggling terribly. If anything happens inside, e.g. something caught fire, we wouldn't be able to get out easily. The security gate at the other door is just as difficult to open and close as the key slides right through the lock on the other side. 2. The air conditioner in the one room worked but made an unpleasant noise and it was quite stuffy and hot! Plus the air conditioner overflow is most likely blocked and just needs to be cleaned, but instead there was a can under the drip that bothered us all night and had to get up to empty, otherwise the whole room was under water. 3. The unit we stayed in was not cleaned to standard. The previous guests checked in, checked out just before us and we didn't arrive until 2.30pm. The extra toilet paper left for us was tucked behind the toilet and it looked like someone had vomited on it. Luckily we had extra with us. Otherwise it was very pleasant and the site is very neat. The view of the river is exactly what your soul needs after a long day of driving.
Have stayed there over the years on my trips to the Kgalagadi. but feel that the accomodation now need a bit of TLC. to justify the pricing.
Have stayed there over the years and as it is well situated for my needs. However, it needs a bit of TLC and WiFi is essential these days.
The living room sofas can easily be replaced, and there is a shortage of a table with chairs to eat at. The fridge didn't get cold.
The place is already old, so some TLC. It was clean in the front, but not as clean as one would expect. Lots of spiders and midges, but it's near the water, so acceptable. Location is excellent and we slept well.
Wasn't very informed, but had a very nice overnight stay. Had to find out yourself where you return keys. They asked what time you would like to have breakfast and that was not part of our reservation.
They are very professional. They make the best steak and burgers. Their room is very neat.

The description of the tent indicated that there was a bar fridge, but there was no fridge in any of the tents.
My husband and I were on our honeymoon. They informed us early the next morning that their power was a problem and that they were having trouble with water. They asked if they could book us in another place. We decided to stay there and they put us in a better apartment. We were very grateful. The next morning they brought us water to wash with. But the meal was the best and the service was the best. Thank you guys.
We had a nice time. The site was also very neat. A small drum in the bathroom was missing. There was coffee and tea in the room, but no milk!

The chalet was clean and no problems, but we had to leave again shortly after arrival due to unexpected circumstances. So we locked the chalet and returned the key, even left the braai wood (very expensive) right there and left. Not at all due to dissatisfaction with the accommodation.

Very nice stay. Calm and well rested. The luxury chalet was beautiful. Tent could do with at least a fan. And a lot of noise late at night at tent.
Good location and nice for a stop after a long day on the road. Only objection is that the cutlery was not enough for the number of guests booked. Fork, glasses and one plate too few, just need a little attention to detail.
Beautiful setting in a perfect location. Stayed in a lovely riverfront chalet. . Some issues with how the rooms are serviced - found a pair of underpants under one of the beds when checking in!. The restaurant was lovely for lunch but an absolute disaster for supper. Service was basically non existent. Got up and ordered drinks directly from the bar. Order was placed only once we had ask someone several times to assist. Food took around 90 min (yes, hour and a half!) to come. Dinner completely spoiled our stay and overshadowed the many positives of Oranjerus. Definitely sadly won't be back.
River Chalet R2 needs a lot of maintenance work in general.

Was there the week before and we had a nice stay until 2 dogs arrived. They look friendly, just run into the houses themselves and come sit down for a nice head scratch. One sat with me while I scratched her back on our porch, then my 4 year old who was rubbing the other dog wanted to rub the other too, then he bit her hand when she approached. Not good at all to let dogs roam free that don't know children. Would only recommend the place if you don't have kids. What if I wasn't there? What if it was her face? Owner of dogs not nearby to supervise and I reported the case at reception and got no contact from the resort, not even to ask if my child is okay.

We once again had a very pleasant time at Oranjerus. Despite load shedding, we were still able to get something to eat at the Ibis restaurant. We slept wonderfully, and were well rested for the long journey to Cape Town. We will definitely stay there again if we are staying in the Upington area, and can recommend it to other travellers.

Our family of 11, of which 2 are small children, had a great time, ate at the Ibis restaurant and slept at Oranjerus Resort. The chalets are clean, luxurious and tidy.

When we got there they had no confirmation of our booking made. Luckily the staff were able to quickly make a plan and we were booked in. Even though it was not the unit we booked the other unit was very pleasant and suited us better. View on the decks are very nice. Friendly staff at reception and waiters and bar staff were great. Food was good and the beers very cold. Will visit here again.
We went to see Augrabies falls and stayed for the weekend at Oranjerus in their permanent tents. It was clean and tidy, just very warm. Fortunately, there are 2 swimming pools in which we could cool off. Ablution facilities clean and tidy. Restaurant is tops.

It's a pleasant destination with a very nice view of the Orange River. However, we were slightly disappointed by the accommodation. We could see that it was beautiful at one time, but maintenance is left behind. Bedding is old and pillows are slept through. The place is in dire need of renovation. It has a lot of potential.
Comfortable and clean. Furniture is a bit worn and needs to be replaced. Other than that everything was fine.
It was not value for money at all. The counter with chairs is not suitable for children to eat at. I would suggest they put a regular table with chairs on the porch where you can sit and eat. There was no water and no one from the resort came to say there was something wrong or they were working on the problem.
The place smelled like drain. I had to fix it myself. Aircon sounded like it was going to fall out of the wall at any moment.
Although the facility is good, the management is completely below standard. No knowledge of the environment or perhaps just no desire to share knowledge. Definitely lacking warmth!
We expected a tent with bathroom and toilet overlooking the river. Instead, we got a small 2-person tent with no amenities that didn't overlook the river. Very disappointing. Mosquitoes ate us up.

It's a beautiful place with lots to do. The Log Cabin is comfortable for parents with 2 children, but a bit smart for more and could do with a nice barbecue area.

We enjoyed the peaceful clean environment and were hospitably received by helpful staff. Especially enjoyed the bird life too. Tent window's zipper and tarpaulin need attention. Nevertheless, our stay was wonderful.
We stayed at Oranjerus after a long day from Johannesburg to Upington, and before we were to leave again for Augrabies and the West Coast. The house was simple but neat and clean, and the view on the river is beautiful.
We had a delicious meal at the restaurant and the view over the river was breathtakingly beautiful! Everything was clean and tidy. The staff is very friendly.
Booked business room but didn't see that it didn't have a kitchen area. Upon arrival, the manager upgraded us to the unit with a kitchen at no extra charge. Rarely do you get such service. Thank you Oranjerus, will definitely visit again and recommend to others.

Very nice location on the river. Very nice food. Chalets comfortable but urgently need a "spring clean". Management of the cleaners lacks attention - they do not understand hygiene. Overall impression is that the place is going downhill. Will only camp if I go again.
The resort needs some attention in relation to maintenance of chalets. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Our group of 16 had a great stay in the 2 river chalets and 2 luxury chalets. The units are adequate but need some maintenance and attention to the smaller details (faucet head is loose and tiling needs attention in 1 bathroom, cupboards and blinds are a bit tired and could do with new towels, one unit had no steak knives) . But generally units are in good condition.
The tent chalets are conveniently close to the ablution blocks and offer reasonable overnight accommodation. People who started playing very loud music after 11 were silenced after a complaint was made.
With booking through the website we inquired when we became 3 persons for a 2 room chalet. Inquiry to Lourette: Are there places available for 3 adults or should I book a 4 bed for a 3rd guest? Answer from Rovellen: Good day yes you must book a 4 bedroom unit for 3 people please. My answer: Please send for me a quote for a 4 bed unit. Self care please (19 weeks ago). Once there, Chalet 3 and 4 were reserved for me (8 beds). I had to pay the difference - 2 people with 2 chalets. The third person mentioned to us in the morning that she was no longer coming along. She did not feel comfortable going by the new Covid rules. My son-in-law canceled his spare room and took over the chalet. I paid the difference of R1500 between the two moves. The chalet therefore has R5250 for me and my husband. 00 for 3 nights - 2 persons cost.
Good overnight facilities. Nice restaurant with a nice river view.
The unit was not yet prepared upon arrival at 15h30 in the afternoon. We got a key to a dirty unit. Had to get cleaners and was therefore delayed to occupy unit. The management was also unwilling to provide another unit.
Not value for money at all. Not what was expected. Was not a good experience at all.
A little maintenance here and there. E.g. some hooks in room for towels etc. was broken down. Power plug sits in a very awkward place under the table in the room. One has to crawl under the table to plug the kettle into the power point.
There were empty boxes piled up by the door to the chalet which did not create a good impression. There were also not enough chairs to sit outside on the stoep and the unit's braai was dragged very far away and left in front of one of the other units. The unit is very basic equipped and definitely needs more items for self-catering in the kitchen. Although we only used the resort as an overnight stop on our way to Namaqualand, we were slightly disappointed because after a long day's drive on the road we felt that the check-in experience and the comfort of the unit did not quite live up to all our requirements, in respect of basic things as mentioned above.
We were in a tent near young (children) people who were having intercourse until 3 in the morning and then came to fight until sunrise. We couldn't sleep. The tents are too close together. There is also only one plug in tent for boiler and fan. More power points would have made things easier.
Accommodation is old and the tents need attention. Room was also not properly cleaned. Environment is fantasy on the bank of the Orange River.

Was later upgraded to a better chalet but it wasn't very clean either, cobwebs etc, definitely not worth the price, the chalet I saw in the pictures and the one we were booked in at the time (6) not the same place not.

After breakfast times were arranged we had to call the first morning and the second morning we drove without breakfast. Asked for breakfast at 08:00 the second morning and by 08:30 everything was still closed and no staff on site. The accommodation was also not up to standard and we request a partial refund.
We didn't have hot water to shower in and the towels didn't smell nice. The restaurant bathroom is full of water as the toilets leak. The duvet on our bed was also very thin and I got cold. Sorry for the negative comment, but thanks for asking what I thought.

It was very nice. Air-cons in the cottage. Television. But the most enjoyable were the beautiful green lawns with the large cool trees. My children and I had a great time lying under the trees and visiting and grilling meat in the evenings. The fishing spot is also nice. There were other campers. Everyone was friendly without being intrusive. Nice, because I wanted to rest. Would go back anytime.

Oranjerus was a very good overnight stay on the way to the Kgalagadi and on our return from the Fish River in Namibia. It was clean, the people very friendly and helpful and the restaurant a nice change from every night's cooking. Try the Ibis Burger, you won't regret it. There were also no problems with the Lekkerrus reservation and everything was confirmed before we got there.

The stay was not bad. The service was not the best. What holiday place do they give their staff on holiday. The restaurant and the deck were not available from the 24th to the 26th. The pool was not clean. It has already started to turn green.
We enjoyed our stay. I've stayed here before so I went back again. I feel that the units we rented require some maintenance. Some of the blinds were broken, the front door must be lifted to open. The rear safety gate must be lifted to open and close and the lock is also loose. The shower's water comes through under the closed glass on the side.
We stayed in two of the permanent tents and although basic , it was great. Cooled off in the nearby pool, and then just relaxed. Ablution facilities were clean, and the whole campsite peaceful and quiet. Great plus for not allowing day visitors.
Peaceful, with spacious bedrooms. Area is beautiful and the Orange River is only 50 m away. The sound of water flowing over rocks just a bit further was just the right 'music'.
The reception was not very friendly, no one took us to our unit, we just got a general indication of where it is. The price is not so much for the house, but I feel it is too much compared to other stays with the same rates we used during our holiday. There are only 2 outdoor seating chairs and we were 4 people. It is suitable for an overnight stay, but I would not recommend it for more than that. The unit may be more suitable for 2 adults and maybe one or 2 children, but it was very small for 4 adults.

Nails in the floor that stab you when you walk barefoot. Cockroaches in the house. One bed leg broken. Air conditioner just shuts off by itself in the bloody heat. Stood in front of the closed gate for 4 hours on New Year's morning, no one gave us a code. Checked out a day earlier.
The living unit is neatly equipped with everything that is needed and everything was very clean. The views and surroundings are beautiful. All the staff are friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the breakfast that was included.

We somehow did not know that the restaurant is closed on Mondays and arrived unprepared for food, however after a drive to the nearest town of Keimoes to stock up for a braai the owner/manageress more than compensated for the misunderstanding by moving us to Five Star accommodation with braai facilities.
It is beautiful, beautiful location by the river. Everything in working order and well cared for. Will definitely stay there again if we come this way.

It was a nice treat to receive a very large bag of ice on arrival and walk into air conditioned rooms! Cooling off in the swimming pool was the next step and then a nice cool drink on the stoep in front of the restaurant. What a breathtaking sunset over the Orange River! A bird paradise for those interested in our feathered friends.

Unfortunately, we arrived at Oranjerus rather late and it was already dark. The cottage was small, but comfortable with what we needed for an overnight stay only. It rained a lot and therefore couldn't barbecue (the rain was certainly very welcome) and so just ate inside. We are also on our way again early the next morning (05:00) so we did not see or experience much of Oranjerus. For the one night's overnight stay, the cottage was sufficient, it was clean and tidy and ready for our overnight stay. We would like to spend a little longer there at a later stage to properly experience Kanoneiland.
The Orange River and the tranquility there is a joy after a long journey.
Oranjerus is a wonderful destination for a family. Braai facilities, peaceful atmosphere, clean accommodation. Highly recommended.

Great and beautiful. There was a lot of broken things in the house that made the niceness a bit less. Bathroom also wasn't very clean.
House was dusty and dust could be seen everywhere on boxes. The toilet seat was very loose and could hardly be used. There were rats in the thatch and they were running around on beams everywhere.
Very beautiful and had a lovely stay. The service was a bit disappointing, but the place itself was very nice. The swimming pool is more like a splash pool and very crowded. The bottom air-con did not work, but thankfully the top one did and we had a fan.

We got there at 14:30 and the log cabin had not been cleaned yet. Furthermore, we had a very nice stay in a peaceful environment. The restaurant is of very good quality.
Air conditioner could not set lower than 25 degrees. Nights were warm. Couldn't sleep properly. The sink faucet in the bathroom's hot tap didn't work. Bathroom light dead, no sink plug. The 2 lights above single beds also dead.
Reception was not very friendly, but the rest of the staff was. Accommodation offers value for money. The pizza we ordered was very tasty, and the service good.
