11 guests' feedbackI have to be honest, if you want to see an Englishman grill and who can grill really well, you should sleep over there on a Tuesday. It is wonderful and hospitable. It felt good to feel welcome, even if one was not at home.
Very peaceful and scenic place, the property is beautiful. Lots of citrus trees, flowers, greenery, wide open spaces for kids to play. Breakfast was lovely, and the breakfast area is very welcoming, lit the entire night with all the essentials you might need. Staff are very friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. Rooms are very spacious and have all the essentials. The owner has equipped the property with self-sustainable features: water and electricity are always available, so no need to worry about load-shedding or water shortages.
Close to the N3, yet peaceful and quiet.
Suitable for quick overnight stays. Room was neat and clean. Breakfast was not bad, just little.
The bedding smelled of "human sweat". I suspect it's the pillows. The bedding is also black and brown. I found a very old and thin towel. It was not very clean at the cups. The Ricoffee instant coffee is bad. The faucet of the shower sits outside the shower. The air conditioner's remote control did not work. I changed the remote control's batteries myself with DSTV.
Pleasant, very pretty gardens, rooms clean, staff friendly.
Cook rats in the kitchen. WiFi that wouldn't connect. Drain pipe broken. Shower door wonky.
Alan, the owner is a real character and tries incredibly hard to keep guests happy and accommodated. Take him up on his offer to braai if you get the chance. I would stay at Orchard's again if forced to visit the area.
Great accommodation.
Facilities were very dated and not cleaned properly. Dirty and torn carpets in the bathroom, not to mention the germ-attracting toilet seat cover. The blinds on the door were broken, so people could easily see into the room. No hand towel was provided. Only one bath towel was provided for two guests - the owner or manager were not present for us to request another towel.
Orchards was good. Just one issue. I had to make my own breakfast. Otherwise very nice.
