200 guests' feedbackAmazing hosts, beautiful setting, accommodation comfortable and will definitely recommend to others.
We had a great stay, the lamb chops were excellent and the accommodation comfortable.
Was a nice experience in unique accommodation with friendly owners. Lovely stay even though it was cold outside.
Again: what an amazing place to spend the night! Would love to stay there for three days. Thanks Natasha, will definitely pop in again.
Magnificent location deep in the heart of the Karoo!
It was my second visit and I enjoyed it as much as my first. This historic old building has a special magic and is set in tranquil surroundings on a farm. The hosts were pleasant and welcoming.
Beautiful, what an amazing place! Like a step back into history, quiet moving to be there imagining the lives lived there. 1830's dwelling with everything we needed including WiFi!
The hospitality, environment and cottage work perfectly together to give a wonderful Karoo experience.
It was an experience to spend the night in the ancient house! We felt like real "hobbits". The hills are beautiful for walking, our dog thought it was heaven. We will easily stay for longer!
The hosts were super helpful.
What a unique experience, highly recommend!
The stone house we stayed in was wonderful. The most beautiful surroundings and stars in the evening. Would go back any day.
Such fun staying in this corbel house: it was so cool, despite the Karoo heat - we just loved it. Perfectly equipped, we especially enjoyed the swimming pool. The hosts were gracious, generous - definitely a place to return to.
We loved our time at Osfontein in the little corbelled house. Love the remoteness and quiet and peace of the location! Order their lamb chops and kebabs when you're there - they are the best!
We had a wonderful stay.
It was fantastic. We spelled it out in the guestbook too.
Natasha and Stegman made us feel right at home from the moment we stepped in and we got the most delicious Karoo chops to grill.
Wonderful atmosphere.
I have always wanted to stay in a corbelled house and I was delighted with Osfontein. Sensitively restored by the owners to allow one to be comfortable yet be able to feel the history of the building. A warm welcome, vast open spaces, peace and Karoo lamb from the farm on the braai, sitting beneath a star-filled sky - we could not have wished for more.
Unfortunately we only stayed overnight, but it was a very good experience.
We had a wonderful stay. It was an experience to sleep over in the corbel house. Eating outside was a frustration with the cat constantly aiming for our food.
This is a beautiful place on a neatly working farm. This is a must do!
We had the nicest experience of genuine Karoo hospitality at the Osfontein Antique Stone Guesthouse and Boomhuis on Stegman and Natasha's farm. One night was too little. The partitioned barbecue and delicious Karoo chops (provided by Natasha) under the starlight were unforgettable. We would love to return again.
Very nice stay. The farm is very beautiful with very nice views. We were also received very kindly. Would love to visit again.
What an experience. The Korbeelhuisie is an experience from another world.
An exceptionally special experience in an exquisitely beautiful part of the country. Very little could compare with a meal in the tiny 'lounge dining room' by fire and candlelight. Beautiful creative touches which enhanced this historical lodging. Delightful and interesting hosts. The stars were magnificent!
We loved our stay in the Corbelled huisie. It felt like we were the only people in the world and had gone back in time. It was cosy, comfortable and a special stay. We enjoyed a long walk into the hills on the farm and the scenery was beautiful. The Karoo lamb we enjoyed from the farmer was delicious. I'd highly recommend - something different to experience and enjoy!
Stay was great. Always wanted to live in a corbel house.
Fantastic stay! The hosts are excellent.
Wonderful. Will stay there again. Best place in Carnavon Loxton district.
They are beautiful people. The stay in the stone house was very comfortable and "cozy". We also bought mutton there. Delicious. It is definitely worth a visit.
It was an experience, the place is special, the history is special and would recommend it.
Silence and scenery were exceptional.
I've been in the Corbelled house and felt like I was transported 100+ years back. It was amazing!
Just sitting alone in this stone house in front of the fireplace felt out of another world, like I was a Hobbit in Lord of the Rings. Wonderful.
Will definitely stay there again. Farm life and friendly owners.
This was our ultimate farm stay en route to the West Coast. Fabulous, and Stigman and Natasha could not be warmer hosts.
We had a wonderful stay. Perfect overnight stay option with a piece of history to go with it. We grilled delicious Karoo lamb chops. We will definitely stay there again!
Karoo gem!
We have been intrigued by corbelled houses for some time. This was a marvelous opportunity to make a closer acquaintance with one. Unfortunately, our hosts were unable to be there but they made certain all was perfect for our stay, even asking their neighbours, Arnold and Marietha, to check that all was well. And the two lovely border collies and a beautiful cat kept us company too. We would most certainly go back again. We also had a look at the Kliphuis and the Treehouse, both of which looked equally delightful. We shall have to try them all!
Korbeelhuisie was a nice overnight experience. Delicious lamb chops and even tastier grilled. The wood was a bit scarce, because I like to make a big fire. The place has everything you need for a nice stay.
From our arrival and welcome by Natasha, to our stay in the Korbeelhuisie, everything was just indescribably wonderful. I could write an essay about our stay, but will just say: absolutely worth it if you're looking for a peaceful, old-world, close-to-nature stay.
Every South African should have this historical/cultural experience in terms of the accommodation and the deep silent Karoo. Magnificent.
Romantic, warm and just really nice.
The corbel house is an experience. We had everything we could possibly need and it was an old world and enchanting Karoo experience at the same time. A place we definitely want to return to - and for longer!
Beautiful host and hostess.
It is a very romantic place. The fireplace provides heat to the whole house.
The Korbeelhuis is an absolute gem. If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of life this is the place to spend a few days and recharge your batteries. Away from electronics. The hospitality of the farm owners was 1st class. We will definitely go again.
Travel back in time. With the necessary facilities. Thank you very much for your hospitality.
Incredible experience of the Karoo.
We liked Osfontein Antieke Klip so much that we even stayed at it again on our way home. The scenery is quite staggering. Looking over the Groot Karoo for miles and miles and the stars at night are like glitter across the cosmos! The two lovely cottages had everything we needed and were perfect for our short stay and the swimming pool was great! We highly recommend it.
Staying in the corbel house was a historic and very cozy experience. Very convenient. We were warmly received by Stegman and Natasha. Unforgettable!
A wonderful experience to spend time in this historical corbelled house. The surrounding Karoo landscape is food for the soul!
From the welcome from Natasha and Stegmann to the departure it was a wonderful relaxation in a cottage with so much history and character with a big 'wow'. The peaceful atmosphere and silence allow one to properly wind down and recharge.
Definitely a must stay for a unique experience. Nice mutton bought on the farm.
Go back in time and appreciate your "roots" and with the beauty, safety and tranquility of the place to visit a built-in braai. Soul joy.
The tastiest Karoo lamb chops for sale to grill. Nice stay and no load shedding because they are off the grid.
Something different to experience. The solar power is most welcome. Nice bonfire in the house to keep warm. Stegmann and Natasha are pleasant and helpful hosts.
Corbeel house gas bottle in the room. Very dangerous. Disaster waiting to happen.
Osfontein Kliphuis can sleep 5 people. There is a nice braai place outside with a table and chairs where you can sit and visit. The cottage inside is beautiful and the beds are clean and comfortable. If you are staying more than one night, definitely pack side dishes, because mutton is for sale from the owners of the farm (from the top shelves). Carnavon is a very small town and everything closes early. Thank you for a nice stay at Osfontein.
Expect the Karoo if you go to the Karoo. It's a unique world and should be explored calmly. Beautiful.
What a wonderful and special place. So unique and special.
The gabled house is stunning, Stegman and Natasha are wonderful people. We had a nice walk, barbecued and visited. Next time we will stay longer.
We really enjoyed staying over in the unique stone house. The peaceful atmosphere, beautiful sunsets and nature make it a unique place. Owners very friendly and hospitable. Will definitely stay again.
Lovely place with the most beautiful stars, and friendly Karoo people who make you feel right at home and go out of their way to help with anything. Dog kids also really enjoyed it.
We stayed in the Tree House and the Old Stone House. Wonderfully furnished with interesting antiques. Beautiful atmosphere on the farm. Lovely swimming pool with friendly sheepdogs. The Boomhuis is now one of my favorite places in the Karoo. The WiFi signal is only in and around the house, and it was nice to work in the garden! Apparently MTN is available but not Vodacom.
What an incredible experience to be able to stay there! Authentic, spotless, well equipped. Thank you to Stegmann and Natasha for preserving our cultural heritage for posterity and giving people the opportunity to experience it.
Move back in time. Valuable experience.
Unique, and very nice clean and still.
The perfect place to unwind and commune with nature. Awesome sunsets, friendly farm dogs and plenty birdlife. Accommodation was very comfortable with everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Lydia and her husband were very helpful and made us feel welcome. We would love to visit again one day.
What a unique overnight experience! We were particularly impressed with all the options to sleep nice and warm, including terribly thick duvets and blankets, plus hot water bags. Lovely indoor fireplace and plenty of hot water was also a bonus. Our Jack Russell was also welcome. Best Karoo chops ever for sale from the owners plus thorn wood per bag which makes a very nice fire.
Only overnighted, but would return for longer to enjoy the Karoo. Very attentive hosts.
Owners welcomed us kindly and showed us around the farm. Delicious Karoo chops and barbecue and the fireplace and bedding were just a pleasure. Next time I will book for at least 3 days, 1 day was too little to fully appreciate the beauty and tranquility.
We stayed here for 3 nights with our 5 and 6 year old. They had a fantastic time and just walked around, climbed hills and experienced a nice Karoo farm life. My husband and I took our bikes and had the best time exploring the dirt roads. Kilometers of dirt roads with only sheep and not a person or car in sight. Wish I could do this more often. You have a special place, and your hospitality is the best.
Every need has been catered for down to the finest detail. What a privilege to be part of a piece of history. And that mutton!
Neat facilities and friendly reception. It's a place we'd love to come back to, not to mention the beautiful roads in the area.
Haven't seen so many stars in a long time and the silence I will be able to get used to, a perfect place for me to retire. Will definitely visit again, bring my family next time. Thank you to Stegmann and Natasha for your hospitality and for preserving a piece of history for our posterity in the Kliphuis.
Wonderful host and wife, we were received very kindly. We had a great time in the Korbeelhuisie, the mutton was delicious.
It was great! Nice!
This place is very special. We even got real Karoo mutton chops and wood for sale from Natasha, who was a perfect hostess. It was particularly nice. An absolutely unique experience to sleep in a corbel cottage. With all the luxury you need.
It is a fantastic place with warm hospitality. The best place on earth to recover, be close to nature and just be at peace. Nice environment for a long walk.
We had read about Osfontein with it's corbelled house in Getaway Magazine and so had the perfect opportunity to experience a night there on our return from the Kgalagadi. We were not disappointed in any way starting from the hospitality shown by our hosts Natasha and Stegmann. We loved the experience of staying in and the history of the corbelled house. It was very comfortable and there was everything we needed and more. Our hosts gave us a tour of the property and the accommodations they have. All lovely. We also enjoyed the company of the sheep dogs who visited us. We bought lamb chops from Natasha which we braaied that night. Absolutely delicious under a Karoo starry sky. Thanks again for a magnificent stay.
Friendly reception by Natasha. She told us about the farm and the history of the gabled house which gives one more insight and makes the stay special in the gabled house. Ate the tastiest lamb chops you can get from her. Thank you very much.
Nice and safe, beautiful Karoo.
It was a wonderful experience. Would definitely recommend the place to anyone.
The hospitality was spontaneous without being offensive. The Korbelhuisie is fantastically furnished without sacrificing originality.
Staying in a corbel house was something to experience and the information sheets a step back in time.
Excellent service. Everything we wanted, peaceful surroundings with good accommodation.
We were received as warmly as if we were old friends - we immediately felt at home on the farm. What a privilege to be able to stay in historic corbel cottage. Enjoyed the freedom on the farm. Will definitely go back again.
Reception by Natasha and Stegmann Lubbe is warm. One immediately feels at home. High quality roast beef for sale. Amenities amazing, considering the age of the corbel houses. Reading material in connection with the history is available.
The beds with soft, warm bedding, hot water bags, boiling water shower, indoor fireplace, and choice between candles and electricity, were a feast! Many thanks Natasha and Stegmann for your hospitality! We appreciate your attention to detail, and that you help preserve such a beautiful piece of history. We hope to stay longer next time! Yes, and the lamb chops were delicious! It was really a special experience to be able to spend the night in the corbel house - and that in the grandeur and beauty of our beautiful Karoo! The attention to detail inside the cottage is highly appreciated! We arrived a little late - after flower viewing in Nieuwoudtville - and would recommend that guests arrive early in the afternoon to experience more of the Karoo farm. However, Natasha and Stegmann waited patiently for us - thank you very much! We had a similar experience of stone cottages in Provence, just outside Gordes, where the Bories can also be visited (no accommodation). And when we looked for a place to sleep at Carnarvon, and we saw the Osfontein stone houses, we were so grateful that there was room! It was a privilege to be able to be part of an ancient way of life that Natasha and Stegmann preserve so beautifully. Thank you very much!
Lovely place, nice walks. You have to wash the dishes outside, but there is a more than welcome hot tap water.
The building is truly something special and my kids loved the "igloo" house. The farm is peaceful and the family was very welcoming.
The house is very cute and well furnished, the silence is rest for the soul and you leave a more relaxed person for sure.
Osfontein is surrounded by pure peace. The corbelled house was comfortable, well equipped and fascinating to stay in. It was wonderful to have a wood fire in the house, which generated remarkable warmth for the whole cottage. We loved the history and beautiful Karoo surroundings. Stegmann and Natasha were attentive and friendly.
Quiet, peaceful. One must stay for at least 2 nights to experience the Karoo.
We stayed in the Treehouse. This is my favorite place of the 3 types of accommodation they offer.
Fantastic accommodation in the beautiful Karoo with rural hospitality. This was the cleanest safari tent I have ever stayed in and the bathroom is clean and tidy and practical. There is everything one needs.
We spent one night in the treehouse on the way to Cape Town. It was incredibly fun. Delicious mutton bought from the owner and grilled. Wind was rough in the Karoo and it made us sleep even better.
We had a great time staying in the treehouse. Very nice experience, would definitely recommend. We were initially worried about insects, but that was not the case at all. It was very neat and clean.
Amazing stay in an amazing house. Meat bought on the farm was top class, and even our 4-legged baby enjoyed the farm stay.
Osfontein with its stone buildings reminded me of the book "Grandfather Landman's violin" by G.J. Joubert. The Karoo, sheep, kraal built of stone, migrate with the sheep due to droughts. I was able to integrate myself into the book through what I experienced at Osfontein. And then the Korbeel house, something that South Africans who love this country and are proud of the history of our Voortrekker parents should experience.
A step back to a century or so ago, but in style! Beautiful corbel house with just the necessary modernization to make your stay cozy but still give you an experience of what it was like. Our second visit to friendly Lubbes with the delicious mutton, and definitely not our last!
The time was in the stone house. Everything is so beautiful. Last time we stayed in the corbel cottage. Had a warm down duvet for the cold. The next morning we were helped to change a tire. Wonderful host and wife. Would stay there again anytime.
My soul finally found its resting place. I am at a loss for words. Breathtaking to say the least.
We were 4 persons for 3 nights. There is one separate bedroom (no door) and two beds in the entrance hall/kitchen area. Everything is open plan except for the bathroom. Despite the shivering weather, we had a wonderful stay. It was a unique and fun experience. There is one electric light in the bedroom, also candles which gave a nice warm atmosphere. The beds and bedding were deliciously warm, as was the shower (spacious bathroom). You can barbecue outside and it's very private, with nice walking routes. However, the weather had other plans so we couldn't walk much or barbecue outside. There is a lovely indoor fireplace that was burning all the time and where we could also braai. All in all it was a wonderful experience. I would think that the cottage is better suited for 2 people (than for 4) so that there is more space (especially in the kitchen area), and because there is little privacy. Perhaps one of those long dachshund door stoppers could also be provided to block the wind which was blowing under the door and was quite cold. Highly recommended.
This was my favourite place, I wish I had stayed longer. They went to so much trouble to ensure that we were comfortable and warm. It was so nice to wake up and to wash my face by the window in the bathroom and look out over the farm and sheep instead of just staring at buildings.
See stars.
We only stayed over one night on our way to the West Coast. Delicious lamb chops. Fireplace was lit early on and we had a lovely warm night's sleep on a cold Karoo evening. Beautiful stars and night sky to view. Will definitely stay there again.
The open spaces, stars and silence are something to experience. Very friendly welcome. Would definitely recommend it. Thank you very much.
See stars.
Clean and neat and a unique experience. The owners are very hospitable and helpful. It is not often that one sees so many stars!
We stayed in the old renovated stone cottage. The renovation was beautifully done with all the facilities working properly and the furnishings adding to the uniqueness of the cottage. Very friendly hosts.
Beautiful stone house. We had a really nice stay! Enjoy the most beautiful Karoo sunset!
Our visit to Osfontein was unforgettable! The corbel house is painstakingly neat and clean. We can't wait to visit again! A stop at Osfontein is also not complete without a few packets of curry sauces! Thank you very much!
Sleeping in a corbel house has been on our wish list for a long time and it became a reality at the end of March this year. Even though we had to deviate almost 40 km from our route, it was worth it over and over again! Osfontein's people, Natasha and Stegmann, receive us with warm hospitality. Our little house, like the two other accommodation options on their farm (Kliphuis and Boomhuis), bears witness to fine planning to give each a unique character. It is elegantly and tastefully furnished and lacks nothing. What an experience to sit in absolute silence on a full moon-lit evening on Korbeelhuis' porch, with a crackling fire's flames leaping skywards. To sit down at the stone table and enjoy the bone-soft lamb chops from the barbecue package that we could order. And then, later, when you climb into bed by candlelight and look up at the high stacked stone dome roof, I am indescribably grateful that we experience this power! I hope I make many people want to have such an adventure now.
I booked a one night stay at Osfontein's corbelled house. This was for business but I will definitely be returning for leisure very soon! I haven't felt such calm in ages. The sunset, the sunrise, the house and its history and of course Natasha and Stegman's welcoming nature warmed by heart and afforded my soul a much needed vacation. I cannot fault them on anything. Thank you for a great evening.
The kids explored the whole place and really enjoyed it! It's a beautiful place! Clean and everything you need is there!
Osfontein is heavenly! From the friendly reception (first from the sheepdogs and then from Stegmann and Natasha) to the starry sky and the most comfortable beds! The corbel house may be old, but it really has everything you need - and the cool interior was a welcome surprise in the Karoo heat! We had a lovely walk and had a nice barbecue (I'm sorry we didn't buy more!) on the stoep which only gets cool at the right time. Our boy really enjoyed the dogs who came to visit and walk together. It was just an overnight stop for us, but we hope to be able to stay a little longer next time to go cycling and enjoy the tranquility.
We were hospitably received on a farm that spread out around us like an oasis. Accompanied by 2 beautiful sheepdogs and with fresh lamb chops, roasts and wood from the farm, we went to the cottage! What an experience. An old copper bed, delicious, fresh linen and cuddly blankets, nice pillows! Beautiful bathroom that fits perfectly with the structure of the old house. Electricity, but subtle, so you can fully enjoy the candlelight! It was on my wish list for years and it was worth it over and over again! An unforgettable, silent night under the wide, star-studded sky. Wish we could visit longer.
Overnight in a corbel house has always been on my bucket list and Osfontein's corbel house did not disappoint! The house was very clean and tidy. We arrived a bit late, but Stegman and Natasha welcomed us kindly and had wood ready for the indoor barbecue/fireplace. We slept wonderfully warm, even though it was a cool night and the stars were amazing. We pre-arranged wood with them and regretted not getting mutton chops from them as well. It was much cheaper per kg than in town. What an incredible experience! See you again soon!
Luxury tree house with everything you want: from the hot shower with a view of the pond, to private barbecue among the stars. Warm and comfortable - all equipment provided. Beautifully and creatively thought out. Owners provide delicious mutton directly from their farm, as well as wood for braai. Steps to tree house give nice view - but maybe not recommended for small children (under 5) and older people.
True genuine hospitality. The accommodation is stylishly and appropriately furnished and the use of copper (taps, pipes and the sink) complements the beautiful stone building.
Nice peaceful atmosphere. Really enjoyed the bike ride.
The 3 accommodation options - corbel house, tree house and stone house - make for an interesting experience. Natacha and Stegman are real people.
Thank you very much for a wonderful overnight stay on this farm. The Ancient Stone House was an experience.
Incredible experience. The corbel cottage is so well insulated, didn't expect the cottage to be so warm in the middle of winter at all. Fire hearth inside was an absolute winner.
On our stopover back from the Cape it was an interesting place and an educational experience.
Nice cool house on the hot days, lots of history.
I would certainly love to return to this destination again.
We were received very kindly and made to feel at home. The corbel cottage has been very nicely maintained and restored. We enjoyed experiencing the history this way and the beautiful sunsets and stars were a huge bonus. Will definitely want to come again.
My son and I had a wonderful experience and would recommend Osfontein to anyone. Owners very friendly and hospitable.
The farm is a little way out of town which makes it a nice place to stay, wonderfully quiet and very clean, well looked after.
It was a fantastic place to start the holiday. The owners are extremely helpful and there was nothing we lacked. Feel free to order a lamb from them ahead of time!
Something different, special.
We stayed in the corbel cottage. I have always wanted to spend an evening in this unique building. It's incredibly beautiful and the house is so well maintained. What an experience! The cottage is well equipped and the beds very comfortable. It got unexpectedly cold that evening, but it was deliciously warm inside, with the thick walls. The lamb chops were delicious and the starry sky incredibly beautiful. I would love to stay here again for more than one night, and even though the corbel cottage was great, I would love to try the other cottages as well. Thank you very much for the genuine Karoo hospitality. We felt so at home.
A perfect stay. Beautiful sky’s.
We slept in the corbel house and it was a unique experience. The house is equipped with everything you need for a break to the silence of the Karoo. The owners are extremely hospitable and you feel very welcome. This place is highly recommended.
We were very well received, even though we arrived late. The cottage was very well furnished and spotlessly clean. We made a fire in candlelight and grilled delicious chops that the farm provided. The sheepdog also kept watch outside all night. Had to give the horse a tip for his effort. It's a special experience in an ancient building and especially when you are well furnished and sleep in a lovely, clean and comfortable bed. We would definitely recommend it and we will be back for sure. Thank you very much.
See stars.
It was one lovely overnight stop. The people are friendly and the place is heavenly.
For sure one of the nicest sleepover units we have ever used as a family. It was truly a privilege to be able to share the farm with the friendly people. Our children's screams and laughter did not bother anyone, as there is enough space on the farm for everyone. Next time we will stay an extra day to be able to explore and enjoy the special environment more.
We stayed in the old shed. A wonderfully and creatively restored stone building with all one needs for a stay in this secluded beautiful part of the world. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The pool was a much appreciated refreshment, the kids enjoyed riding their bicycle on the farm roads and paths and we marvelled at the night sky after enjoying wonderful lamb chops braaied on the coals next to the hut. Thank you!
Beautiful surroundings and nice and quiet.
The house makes one realize what the people had to go through to develop our country. The warm hospitality and delicious lamb chops made the visit a highlight.
Very friendly welcome, delicious, great quality lamb chops. Could switch off and just focus on the moment.
Is a belt under the heart that the corbel house is still preserved for posterity. Copper kettle and hearth and candlelight so part of bygone days.
Friendly and hospitable people. Softest lamb chops and roasts that we simply bought directly from them. The place was clean and tidy and it really felt like going back in history. The children couldn't believe that it could get so peaceful and there were so many stars in the sky. Thank you very much. We will definitely visit again when the Karoo is green.
What an experience to spend the night in a genuine stone house in the middle of nowhere. Peace and quiet with incredible hospitality when needed.
Friday evening at Osfontein overnight in a Korbeelhuis. Restored from the 1800s. The house is built entirely of stone, including the roof. Lovely hospitality from Stegman and Natasha. Wonderful peaceful place to spend the night on a farm between Carnarvon and Loxton. People looking for a peaceful place to stay on a farm can feel free to consider it. The Korbeelhuis is unique and part of our history. You will find the place Osfontein comfortable.
Thank you, we had a wonderful night in the corbelled house. A unique experience. Friendly and attentive hosts.
Great stay, fresh air, beautiful Karoo nights, sun coming up and setting, quiet and tasty lam chops. The ideal place for a getaway from the city.
Wonderful hospitality and an accommodation experience. The mutton was delicious and recommended.
Stegman and Natasha went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Staying in a house that was built in the 1800s was for sure something we will never forget. Christmas light dinner and barbecue under the Karoo stars. Would recommend it for sure.
Accommodation very neat. The stone house is decorated with unique and antique furniture and decoration. Environment and sunset is incredible. Value for money. We can definitely recommend it.
When everything is right and nothing is out of order or lacking in any way, you are free to enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the Karoo. Four nights left us feeling like we had been on holiday for a fortnight! Thank you, Osfontein.
We loved everything about our stay in the antique klip guesthouse. The beautiful lovely furnished house, the cosy bed with looking out to stars through the big windows (we stayed in the old stone house), the atmosphere, making a fire and braai in the evenings, the silence and the peace. Thanks a lot for this beautiful place!
Very nice stay. Good service from nice and friendly people. Makes one think back to when we still talked to each other around candlelight and an open fire, instead of sit and stare at a screen. Bought 2 lambs there at a very reasonable price. Sawn, packed and frozen as we requested. Most delicious lamb as only the Karoo can. Thank you Natasha and Stegmann! You may!
We bought lamb chops and wood and enjoyed an amazing braai under the huge skies of the Karoo. The amenities were clean and comfortable.
On arrival, after a very long and dusty drive, no one was there. We managed to contact our host by telephone who informed us that she was in Beaufort West (128 km away) and that our booking had been cancelled. We were directed to one of the other units which was open, where we could sit and wait until the host returned almost 2 hours later. Despite all the very sincere apologies, it's just not an acceptable way to run an accommodation establishment. We were offered some of our money back which we declined since we did eventually stay the night. The treehouse tent is very nice, although a bit noisy when the wind came up in the night, bit that is common for all tents. With better booking management, it could be a very pleasant experience.
What a wonderful Christmas! We enjoyed every moment of our 2 nights there! The gabled house was really something special and there was everything that was needed for a comfortable stay. It was bloody hot during the day, but wonderfully cool in the cottage and the pool was very nice. We got lamb chops from Natasha to grill and made a nice fire under the stars - amazingly many stars to see. Also nice cycling. Really worth it!
What a privilege to sleep in a historical and architectural gem. Very friendly host and hostess. Houses are sensitively restored. Best lamb that the Karoo can offer!
The owners were hospitable, accommodation was comfortable, everything we needed was there. Everything was unbelievable and we will definitely stay there again!
Osfontein was recommended by my parents. We decided to spend one night there on our way back home from holiday. Wish we booked for longer. The corbelled house was so unique and beautifully renovated. The warm water bags and wonderful winter bedding were such treats. We also bought chops for our evening braai from Natasha and Stegman - so succulent. They are such lovely hosts. We will most definitely be back. Next time we'll try out the antique stone house. Thank you!
It was an experience to spend the night in such a house. The owners were very friendly. The cottage was well equipped and although it was very cold, there were warm duvets and enough blankets. The kitchen was also well equipped. A wonderful experience.
The Corbeelhuis is a unique place to stay. It immediately feels familiar, safe and pleasant. The decor is simple, but the bed is good, the shower is special and unexpectedly nice, and the place is priceless! Now a good chimney in the dining room. Don't forget the treehouse, especially in the summer!
It was very cold, but we made two fires and had a lovely braai and then slept warmly under cuddly blankets.
We were received very hospitably. We stayed in the tree house which is very special. There are many birds that make it very special. We would recommend it anytime and try to stay longer than 1 night.
Had a great stay in the corbel house - felt like a pioneer! The children especially enjoyed it and dusted the farm paths with their bikes. Thank you Natsha and Stegnan for your hospitality. We pray that you will get good rain this year.
If history, peace and tranquility, and something out of the ordinary is your thing, do it! And for the experience, know you have to rough it a little, but make it part of the fun. Dress warmly for bed, even in summer.
Very special and has an incredible charm!
The tent is incredibly beautiful and perfectly furnished. Absolutely beautiful to sit and look at the stars in the evening.
The stay was wonderful. One night is too short to take it all in. Karoo is breathtakingly beautiful. The host and hostess were very friendly. The house was wonderfully cool in the hot Karoo night. Drive the dirt road to Beaufort West from here. It is also beautiful.
The stone house was one of the most pleasant cremations and experiences ever. Definitely on our 'going back' list. Everything is so authentic and special. Lovely beds and linens; special campfire visit. Stegmann and Natascha have a gem of a farm and guest units!
Wonderful hosts. Already stayed/booked there 3 times.
A great experience. Very nice.
What a cute little gem near where we work. Will be back with my family.
We were very warmly received - real Karoo hospitality. The stay in the corbel house was an incredible experience. The cottage is so beautifully cared for with the historical element that remains. The stone work is breathtaking and our night by candlelight and fire was an experience. Earlier in the afternoon we could go for a nice walk on the farm and climb a hill to admire the vastness of this beautiful world. We hope to return again soon. Can highly recommend this guest farm. Thank you very much for the opportunity to spend the night here.
We were received very kindly (also by the sheepdogs!) and the Kliphuisie really exceeded all expectations. The attention to detail in the decor and how the history of the building was captured was really something special. Everything we needed in the cottage, next time we will definitely stay longer!
Everything was wonderful, only the fireplace smoke came into the house, we don't know how that can be. But one wonderful experience in this unique place.
The Kliphuis is really something special! We are definitely going back! Beautiful Karoo sunsets and safe place for the children.
Will definitely visit Osfontein again. Friendliest host and hostess, a historical experience.
Tops and tranquil area.
Very friendly welcome by the owners. The Korbeel house was nice and clean and we really enjoyed the one night.
It was a real experience to see how the corbel house was built and also to stay a night in it. The corbel house was well equipped for a comfortable stay. We only stayed one night, which was too little!
The corbel house is surely a wonderful experience! Our stay was comfortable, and it made us wonder how people managed back in the day. Natasha, and Stegman are fantastic hosts, and welcomes you like old friends on their farm. This is the second time that we visited, and we will definitely go again.
It was a wonderful 2 days. Everything was so neat and clean. Would love to stay there again. The silence made your mind go far.
We had a wonderful stay, it's pure farm! It was a nice experience and absolute break from the hustle and bustle. The Korbeel cottage is interesting and one is transported to centuries past. The owners are fantastic and so hospitable it feels like you've known them for years. Thanks for a great time, we will definitely stay here again.
The tree house was the ideal place to start our holiday and just settle down for 2 nights. The view from the tent/tree house over the karoo plains was food for our souls. Stay a night or 2 longer and explore Loxton. Had such a great time there. Stegmann and Natasha were fantastic 'landlords' and recommend staying in any of their 3 places.
It was truly an incredible experience to stay in the Korbeel house. We were received very kindly and immediately felt at home. Everything very neat and clean. Very sorry that we only stayed one night. We will definitely go again but for a few days. It is certainly a place where one can switch off and enjoy the tranquility of the farm and Karoo. The meat from the braai packets was very tender and tasty. We also went to see the Kliphuis and Boomhuis, each definitely also has its own charm.
Incredibly interesting and beautiful stone house with a wonderful farm feel.
It was a lovely experience staying in the corbel cottage, even if it was a bit cramped for four adults. Very neat and clean bedding and the unit has a neat toilet and bathroom. We slept wonderfully in the silence of the Karoo. The owners have managed to achieve a good balance between the historical and modern way of life. Although the cottage has a very nice outdoor barbecue area, we were forced to use the indoor barbecue as it was windy and cold outside. We really enjoyed the indoor barbecue and had a wonderful time around the fire. Unfortunately, the chimney does not draw very well, with the result that everything in the cottage smelled of smoke. It was pretty bad. The owners should pay attention to it. Only candlelight is available which makes it very romantic. I hope the owners never change it. However, I would suggest to guests to bring flashlights and/or headlamps. We struggled a bit in the candlelight with the food preparation and reading. It was great fun staying there though. We want to do it again. It's not the usual guest house. Guests should be prepared to expect something different and something very special!
It was truly an experience to be able to experience the Karoo again after many years. Will definitely go again.
Great experience with friendly hosts.
We appreciated the preservation of the character of the Korbeel House, with some luxury amenities added (electric sheets, hot shower). One gets an idea of what the corbel house dwellers must have experienced in the old days. Thank you very much!
The ancient Kliphuis is a well-equipped self-catering cottage with unique architecture and decor. The farm atmosphere and beautiful surroundings contribute to a special experience.
The corbel cottage is one to tick off your list. The surroundings are beautiful and the owners very friendly. We really enjoyed the sleepover. Very basic.
It was such a great break. The silence is incredible. The place is unbeatable. This is the best place to talk to each other again. Reception blew us away, we felt like family. A thousand thanks Natasha and Stegmann. You guys are WOW! The children enjoyed your dogs (and the sheep) so much!
An incredible moment in time - present and past! There are too few adjectives to describe this experience. I will be visiting here again and again in the future. A bucket list item - indeed!
It is calm and peaceful in a forgotten atmosphere.
