48 guests' feedbackWe had a fantastic stay. The staff went above and beyond to look after us, and we will definitely be back.
Friendly staff and exceptionally good food.
There seems to be a lot to do in the area. We were looking for a quiet place to overnight on the way back to Johannesburg. A little way off the main route. This is a beautiful part of the Northern Cape.
We were the only guests and it felt like paradise. No light pollution and we could see comet C2023, unforgettable. The cook in particular was enthusiastic, even though she only had to cook for us. The room and bathroom were large and luxurious.
Lovely welcome and very nice place to spend the night!
Perfect for an overnight stay and dinner if you're not a hunter - otherwise there is nothing much to do here.
Good service. Excellent food and hospitality.
Good accommodation for hunters, but not for ordinary travellers. Rooms small and crowded with no view. Can get much more luxurious accommodation for the same price in other places (unfortunately not in Philippolis).
Lovely venue, peaceful, seems new. Dinner was a set menu which is a challenge if you don't know that, and a little pricey.
Nice and laid back, nice area to relax, no noise.
Place looked amazing but the self-catering unit was horrible and had to pay the same price. Toilet leaking and I was told over the phone that breakfast was included when I have to pay the total amounted to R2600 for 1 night stay, dinner and breakfast, what a ripoff.
We had a lovely stay. It was peaceful and beautiful. The hosts were very kind and the food delicious!
The silence of Otterskloof is touching.
The food is off the books. I would definitely recommend that guests eat there. I also took my own wine with me because it was so soon after the ban.
Otterskloof is not on the N1, but adds an hour or so to your drive from the Cape to Gauteng. But absolutely worth it. So much nicer than just another B&B on the N1.
The moment we arrived, we were welcomed by friendly staff with refreshments and hot towels to re-energise ourselves. We were personally shown our room and where we would be having dinner and breakfast. We were asked when we would like breakfast to be served in accordance to our travel schedule. The admin and payment process at the end of our stay was simple and seamless. Staff were always well-presented, well-mannered and helpful.
Our stay was outstanding, the accommodation and meals were outstanding, as was the hospitality and service. Staying at Otterskloof is an unforgettable experience.
We had an accident on the way to Otterskloof, but the love, empathy, help and incredible service we received from the hosts and the rest of the team turned a horrible day into a lovely evening in the most beautiful most beautiful lodge and environment. We will definitely be back!
We were received so kindly. Feel free to do so. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. Thank you very much Carina and team.
Friendly professional competent staff.
For a 4 star, the service and facilities were disappointing. Maybe good enough for just an overnight, but definitely not spending time there.
Dinner very meager for what we received. Not overnight farm, more hunting farm.
I just want to thank you for the upgrade you gave us, it wasn't necessary at all, but much appreciated! Otterskloof is a very special place, we had a wonderful stay there and you have a winning recipe there. Everything was perfect from the warm welcome to the beautiful rooms and wonderful bedding and tightly rolled towels! The rooms are well laid out and have everything and more you need, as well as being beautifully decorated. Your staff are top notch and went the extra mile for us with the children. (Where else do you get someone to light the fire for you) It was truly a wonderful treat and we had a great time relaxing with you. The lovely lawn under the trees, play area and swimming pool were truly a bonus. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality!
We stayed overnight on our way back from Stellenbosch to Secunda. Gravel road was good. The dinner was wonderful. The bedding was of very good quality. Will definitely go again.
It was also advertised with a braai and small kitchen that our unit didn't have. The staff helped us with a room when we had to change our dates at the last minute. Very friendly and helpful. We bought braaivleis because the advertisement said we had a braai and kitchen, but that was not the case. Nice view and nice pool, but I expected so much more.
I will tell all my friends about the place and I will go there again. It was worth every Rand.
Will definitely stay there again. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Kosie made the game drive a lot of fun. Food was tasty and just one day in we could feel the city stress leaving our bodies.
Staff and management so friendly and accommodating! Facilities very good. Chef's food from the top shelves! Game drive was an unforgettable experience. Saw so many different types of wildlife. Highly recommended.
Otterskloof has the friendliest staff who make you feel right at home with great service, great food, breathtaking views and the best getaway destination.
Otterskloof Private Game Reserve provides exceptionally luxurious and spacious rooms, a warm welcome and really excellent food. There is an opportunity to enjoy a walk on the farm and pets are also welcome. Travelers should just note that it is quite a detour to get to the farm. Although it is an excellent dirt road, it is about 25 km out of town. It would be good if the farm was described on the website as a hunting farm and not as a nature reserve. Fresh milk instead of Cremora in the room would also be welcome. There is very limited cell phone reception and WiFi available.
Just one problem, the unit we stayed in had only one bathroom for 4 people to share in the one bedroom - and it had no door.
We will always recommend Otterskloof and will definitely visit again. The staff is friendly and hospitable. Our evening there was definitely an experience. Thanks again.
It had truly been a fantastic experience. The service is great and very friendly staff. Thank you very much.
An unbelievable place. We loved it so so much. Delicious food and the staff was very friendly. We will definitely be back some day.
As a parent with small children, it is very difficult to find places where I, as a parent, can also relax and not have to run and shout after my children all the time! This is a place where we as parents could relax and have a peaceful time while looking out over the beautiful plains and enjoying the silence! The food was delicious and the service wonderful! Everyone we dealt with was friendly and helpful! They treated my children so well and made me feel welcome! We will definitely see Otterskloof again and have already recommended it to family and friends! We feel very blessed after our visit there!
We will see you again!
Really enjoyed the overnight stay during our journey from Cape Town to Pretoria. It's a bit far from the N1 for a overnight destination, but the service and facilities are excellent.
They were very accommodating with the puppy traveling along.
Beautiful place. We are pleasantly surprised with the quality of the accommodation.
We stayed 3 nights at Otterskloof on our way to the coast. Friendly, helpful staff. Breathtaking nature, despite the drought. Exquisite accommodation. We will definitely be back.
See stars.
Calm for soul and body. Clean and tidy. Dinner not too good.
We have never been so spoiled in our lives. The staff is wonderful!
It met our needs, namely a peaceful stay in nature. However, we had to wait for our room (after the indicated arrival time). The flies during meals were extremely troublesome. I also personally think that the amount that has to be paid to go and see wildlife in your own car is too expensive, given the cost of the accommodation.
Rooms spacious and luxurious. Nice pool and game drive!
Very comfortable accommodation for overnight or hunting trips. Not far from the road (N1) and with a clean pool to cool off in.
The rooms are nice and comfortable. The dinners are mostly venison and very tasty. The game drives are worth it - drove myself and saw rhinos and a herd of about 30 giraffes. Landscape is beautiful. Booked an extra day after we saw it was nice here, but also convenient as a half way stop on the way to the Cape.
A beautiful game reserve, fresh air and a stunning full moon escorted us to our destination. Loved it! Will most definitely return.
