We had a great stay, the children really enjoyed playing with the animals and swimming in the river.
This was a pleasant stay in the middle of the mountains. Tranquil and a nice getaway.
Appreciated the little fireplace inside as it kept us warm, as well as the gas stove option to be able to make coffee during load-shedding.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would come again. The property is stunning, well maintained and the perfect place to relax with a good book. It is also conveniently located between the main attractions in Oudtshoorn. We loved meeting and interacting with the many dogs and other animals on the property too. The staff were friendly and helpful, and a very early checkout was easily arranged, which was great. Our only concern was the door to our cabin (#4, Peace), which did not feel very secure. Although it did not dampen our stay, and we do believe the property to be safe, if you're very concerned about your safety, this may prove problematic for you. Other than this, we were very happy with the cabin itself. It is well-equipped and clean, with good water pressure for the shower and comfortable beds. I would say the highlight of this property is not the cabins though, but the outside. It is beautifully landscaped, with a rolling green lawn, places to sit and enjoy the sights and sounds, a hiking route to some river pools, and a river running in front of the cabins. It is incredibly scenic and peaceful, and we'd love to stay again just to relax on the property and enjoy the views.
The environment is peaceful and relaxing. One of the few guesthouses that is truly 'child and animal friendly'. Our children really enjoyed playing outside (a welcome break from technology) and the guest house's dogs. We look forward to our next visit to Old Tol.
A hidden gem. True peace and tranquility can be found here while being very close to an array of attractions. I loved the adopted animals. A really special stay.
The surrounding nature is absolutely stunning and you feel rested and relaxed after a visit. It is close enough to all other activities, so very conveniently located. We will definitely go back for another visit.
We stayed over the weekend on our honeymoon, we are very happy with the premises, it was clean, safe and all the pets were friendly. We rode the canoes and had a lovely rest in the hot tub.

This is truly a stunning place. I would highly recommend anyone to visit here. It was one of the best places I ever stayed in.
The reception was good even though the owner was not there, the receptionists welcomed us very well and made us feel at home. The only disappointment was that we could not order the barbecue or breakfast packages because the owner/management was not there. The environment is very beautiful with the river there. I would also just like to say that the management should take care to keep the site clean of the animals' manure, otherwise I will definitely book there again in the future to stay in Nr. 2 to be able to stay.

Felt at home immediately. Reception was very good. Barbecues and wood were offered at a very good price and it was nice to sit on the veranda and drink coffee and wait for the fire to burn out. Waking up the next morning to the sound of water flowing over the rocks and a rooster crowing early in the morning was wonderful. Thank you very much, enjoyed it very much.

Great time and away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Accommodation clean and tidy with all the basic necessities for your weekend visit. The nature in the area is beautiful and truly a place to charge your battery. Small bit of noise experienced in the afternoon due to the maintenance on the Chalets - disturbing rest.
Great stay all was well but if we knew about all the dogs upfront it would have helped as I have allergies and with all the dogs around I was challenged.
This is the perfect family holiday. It's a haven for children, or even a romantic getaway. Rolling green lawns, a play area, swimming pool and the river "pool". I would bring aqua shoes for the river as you need to walk over rocks to get in the water. There are tubes to float down the river. It's peaceful and relaxing. The accommodation is lovely and has everything you need. Beds might need new mattresses. We didn't want to leave. The 8 dogs on the property are all friendly and love kids. This place is a true gem.
The pictures on the web do not deceive you - it really is as nice and beautiful as it looks! There is also so much for the children to do and it's safe and quiet and the aircon is a bonus. We are very happy with our choice of accommodation and will definitely stay there again if we go in that direction. Next time I'll take a nice book to read in the hammocks!

The Cango Retreat is beautiful with the river running through the resort and the spring goats that graze there. The lights in the evening by the river are also beautiful. The unit was neat and clean and we were kindly received.
Ou Tol is idyllically located and service was excellent. Inge and Mariska were easy to communicate with and went out of their way to make our visit enjoyable. We are definitely going back!

Amazing view from the honeymoon suite and a peaceful river surrounds the lodges. Was a memorable experience, worth coming back to and recommending!
Very nice stay and enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. The units nicely equipped. Shower is a bit uncomfortable, either burning hot or freezing cold. Struggled to get the water temperature right, but otherwise it was nice and will stay there again anytime.

What a gem amidst the mountains, takes your breath away.
It is the most beautiful place, right next to a river. The day we checked in, the lady was very friendly, but she just unlocked the door for us and then walked away. Didn't even come in to check if everything was working. That night was probably the coldest night of my life. The cabin was not insulated at all. The vent holes were completely open, only a piece of mesh remained. The front door did not seal completely. I could squeeze my thumb between the top and bottom door so big was the gap. My poor child was sleeping right in front of this door. The heater didn't work either. The next morning my husband and I were up early to take a nice hot shower so we could "defrost". The geyser didn't work and we both had to settle for a cold shower. We reported all this to the manager and that night the heater which only needed batteries was fine. The shower's hot water was also fine and they even bought an electric blanket for the night's cold. At least we could sleep better that night. Unfortunately, they couldn't do much about the cold wind that blew through the wooden beams. My husband and I then decided to go home rather than stay another night in such a cold place. I just want to mention that at check-out they mentioned to us that the place was going to be isolated. I really hope so because I think it's a really cool place and would really recommend it to anyone who wants to go in the summer. I think it would be a lovely destination, so peaceful by the river.
Beautiful location and ideal for exploring the Swartberg with motorbikes.
The houses are cute, unfortunately just not completely clean. However, they were more than willing to move us to another cottage. Very peaceful and the river and gardens are beautiful. More comfortable seating on the porch will make a big difference. The hard wooden benches do not allow you to relax. Friendly reception. Not a place for romantic getaways, but cute for a family with kids.
