Surroundings are stunning and the area is super quiet. We hiked, cycled and just rested.
It is a picturesque farm, nestled between the mountains. The proteas were in full bloom while we were there. We had a wonderful overnight stay and our only regret is that we couldn't stay much, much longer, meet the farm animals, walk the hiking trails and see the sunsets from our porch. We will definitely want to come again!
We had a wonderful stay. Very beautiful and peaceful environment. Aunty spoiled us with a warm home-baked bread on arrival and one evening with delicious curry bean salad. Will visit again.

We were immediately at home on Oudemuragie. Maggie's hospitality, warm bread and nice furnished house with the wonderful nature was unbeatable. The aloes' colors spanned the crown.
We were welcomed with freshly baked bread, the most beautiful view and a neat house that was fully equipped.
The stay at Oude Muragie refreshed our souls. The load shedding was of course a pain but nothing can be done about it. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who appreciates quiet and scenery. Our unit was very comfortable and Maggie is an excellent hostess.

Aunt Maggie is a formidable woman who farms on the most beautiful farm. Her natural flowers are beautiful and she likes to hand them out, the warm fig bread especially and sheepishly happy. There are paths along babbling streams and also a nice swimming hole in the river.
We enjoyed our short stay at Oudemuragie Guest Farm. Tannie Maggie was very accommodating, friendly, and went the extra mile for our family. The units were very clean, the linen and bedding were super comfortable, and the units were fully equipped with everything we needed. The braai facility overlooks an incredible view of the surrounding mountains. Oudemuragie will see us again.

Always great to visit Oudemuragie! The children/teenagers keep busy between feeding sheep and walking in the heads, the view is excellent, the river water tastes delicious. Sporadic cell phone signal and no TV is a bonus in my book. T'Maggie's hot bread!

Maggie's energy and zest for life had once again been a revelation to all of us - who can fly over a farm gate like Hestrie Cloete at 78? Maggie is an excellent hostess and went out of her way to make us feel welcome and showed us around while tending to her animals. She shared her knowledge of the area and farm with us, and it soon became clear to us that the natural beauty should be further explored through all the hiking trails in the mountains - we will do that next time! I very definitely recommend it to people who need time and rest to recover from the hectic life. We will definitely visit again.
No review can justify the Oudemuragie experience! Auntie Maggie's energy is contagious and one has to look very far for hospitality like we experienced there. Johan still talks about his little lamb Hannah and the dog who likes hugs. This is not a place where you just want to sleep one night, make sure there is time to linger a bit.
The Swartberg had snowfall the previous evening. It was amazing to sit on the patio on the evening of our arrival with a nice, hot mug of coffee and watch the last sunrays light up the snowy mountain peaks just above our little house.
We loved our interactions with Maggie! So much warmth, consideration, energy! A real inspiration! Thank you for all the special touches and your generosity! We loved watching the sheep coming in at night, all the birdlife around the cottage, the ducks on the grass below and the snow-clad mountains. A very memorable stay!

It was the best stopover to start our family holiday with. We could switch off from everything in the silence between the mountains with the most beautiful scenery around us. The mistress crawls deep into one's heart. Definitely recommend it and would like to stay there again myself. The outside shower was a bonus!
What a pleasant surprise and thank you to Maggie for responding late on the eve of our date! It was an incredible experience to meet Maggie, walk in the mountains, move around among the sheep and then enjoy a warm sandwich in between Maggie's busy life as a single farmer! At least we could stay an extra night, but it was still too short.
Aunt Maggie is an excellent hostess. She treated us to a tractor ride and a hike up to the waterfall in the mountain. Her knowledge about the environment, farming and the fact that she farms alone is amazing. Our city jays could drive sheep with her and nothing was too much trouble for her. The fresh bread was of course our salvation because we arrived there after dark and starving on the first day. Aunt Maggie, keep it up. God's richest blessing we pray for the remaining years on the farm.

Our hostess, Maggie, made us feel at home from our arrival to our departure and spoiled us with fresh home-baked bread, jam and a bag of thornwood. Vogelnest in which we stayed was extremely comfortable and equipped with everything to make our stay pleasant. The scenery and surrounding mountains are breathtaking and the friendly farm animals were the icing on the cake. The area is a succulent plant lovers paradise.
We could see it being a perfect place to stay for a farm holiday - amazing scenery between the mountains and lots of farm animals close to the site. Maggie is an energetic, helpful hostess. The farm is 9 km from the tarmac, and very close to De Rust, a cute town.
Maggie made us feel very much at home and we thoroughly enjoyed her animals and love for the farm and especially the children! We were pleasantly surprised with a hot sandwich on arrival which set the tone of the extra mile and continued hospitality for the rest of the weekend. The farm is a little gem for any nature lover who wants to be swallowed up by farm life and mountains. We will definitely visit again, maybe only if the sun's rays shine longer during the day because it was very cold!
It's like paradise on earth. You can hardly get closer to your Creator. The reception was excellent. You immediately feel at home. Environment an experience. The biggest surprise awaits there between the mountains, the farm is fantastically located, and aunt Maggie is really excellent! The children could chase sheep, drive a tractor, walk far and play with the domesticated sheep. The view is picturesque and the rest for your soul is priceless. In addition, only a stone's throw from Oudtshoorn and all the attractions. Well worth it, we will return again.

There is a pandora's cupboard at Oudemuragie filled with farm- and nature-related knit-knacks, a farm journal on animals and things that would make you hanker back to days gone by. The "landlady" doesn't only look after you, but is actually over brimming with passion for her lovely farm, animals and plants - something which gave me the impetus for renewed inspiration and humanity. I'll stay here again.
Thank you very much for a wonderful night's rest in the cutest cottage. Thanks for the fire that was already packed! Unfortunately, there was no milk or milk powder, and we hadn't been careful to bring it with us. Other than that, everything was really nice.
