I had a nice stay. My detached house sleeps 5 people with a double bed, a single bed and a bunk bed. Then there is a bathroom and kitchen with stove and microwave oven. There is also a dining table and chairs. The back porch overlooks the wine fields and mountains. The accommodation is about 14 km outside Oudtshoorn, but there is a good general trader only about 2 km away with good prices for meat and other basic necessities.
Excellent service by owner and hostess at breakfast.
The stay was great, we were greeted with a smile and the staff went out of their way for us.
The most beautiful accommodation, beautiful location and beautiful property. Hostess was very welcoming. Highly recommended.
Beautiful accommodation with lovely facilities. The breakfast was amazing!
Lovely karoo farm environment. The hostess made us feel very welcome and even reserved a place for us to eat that evening at a beautiful restaurant.
Delicious breakfast, very friendly staff, lovely bed! WiFi was not always available. And it would be nice if we could eat the delicious breakfast a little later.
Old-fashioned furniture is tasteful and gives a good atmosphere.
Very warm and friendly welcome. Convenient parking, nice hot water shower and bath, air conditioning and electric blanket. Slept wonderfully warm and cozy and welcomed with a delicious breakfast. Will definitely recommend.
Such a wonderful and peaceful stay for the weary traveler. Enjoyed the scrumptious breakfast the following morning. Wish we could stay another night.
Nice spacious house with comfortable bathroom and cozy electric blankets.
Hosts were so welcoming, accommodation was perfect for our needs with teenagers and dogs, and breakfast was delicious. Would definitely stay again, highly recommended.
Good service, friendly staff.
We had an unforgettable weekend! Beautiful suite, comfortable rooms and delicious farm breakfast.
Very good service and friendly staff. Breakfast was top class and we enjoyed our stay with the children.
Absolutely lovely would love to come back another time for a longer stay.
The staff's hospitality was amazing! Our youngest had a tummy bug and soiled a few towels. The staff was so helpful in helping us to clean up. Breakfast was also a highlight - usually met other families and individuals where one could share experiences or plans for the day.
It was a very nice place will definitely go again or recommend it. Wish it could have stayed there longer.
Such a stunning, relaxing venue, clean as a whistle but lacking in amenities and service. After an average meal in their restaurant (the ostrich steak was overcooked and tough enough that I couldn't eat it so I gave it to my fiance to reluctantly finish instead). We went back to our room, only to discover that our TV wasn't working at all, and one remote didn't even have batteries in it. We reported it to the lady on duty, but the answer was "there is nothing we can do about it". No offers to try and reboot the system, or come to the room to try and resolve the issue, so we went back to the room and luckily we had a laptop with us for work, so we started watching a streaming programme on that, only for the wifi to be disconnected at about 9:45pm. We tried a few other room batch options, but appears all were shut down so we had no access to their free wifi as advertised either. We decided to forego the breakfast the following morning, and were offered no apology or any acknowledgement of their shortcoming (and this was not a load shedding related issue as the TV and streaming device did switch on - just didn't work). Perhaps a good idea for them is to check that all listed amenities are indeed working before booking anyone into their most expensive unit available. Other than that, it's a wonderful farm and very pretty and peaceful to stay at, with lovely historical artifacts dotted around the private and public areas. They should perhaps also invest in some fitted sheets as there was only a top / flat sheet on the beds, which moves around while you're sleeping.
Very old buildings decorated with many different eras of decor.
Beautiful beautiful view! My husband and I needed a break after a terribly difficult year and the guest house surpassed all our marks! Will visit the place again anytime.
Delicious breakfast, clean rooms and beautiful surroundings. Definitely recommended for tourists.
We had a wonderful stay. Clean, comfortable and friendly faces. Definitely our stop if we're in the area again. Almost feels like family.
The location is unbeatable. In a valley with the mountains around you, a pond in front of the rooms with willow trees and a sensitively restored farmhouse and rooms with all the modern needs addressed. Interesting county history to discuss. Close to town but far enough to rest your soul.
Great stay. Hostess was very friendly and helpful.
My wife and I stayed in the honeymoon suite. It was perfect for us. The free-standing bath, beautiful view and delicious breakfast definitely stood out for us.
Accommodation was perfect for a family, self catering facilities more than adequate. Close to activities and town. Walking distance to the wine estate and the ostrich farm. Lovely holiday.
We enjoyed it very much. The room is clean and very tidy. The breakfast was fantastic and would love to have the option for dinner but the restuarants are close enough. Will visit again and definitely recommend.
The electric blanket was fantastic for the cold weather. The breakfast was served in the room and was top notch. Very safe and calm atmosphere for children. Would definitely recommend Oue Werf.
We had a great time sitting by the pond with a beautiful sunset.
So lovely to be able to be a part of the old fashioned charm. The rooms very spacious and very good quality linen. Breakfast delicious and tasty. The landscaped gardens very very beautiful with many birds and beautiful views. The planted leeks onion fields that look like fairy tales.
Very friendly service and a warm atmosphere. Far away from the hustle and bustle and the tranquility of nature takes over again while you can enjoy time with loved ones.
Beautiful surroundings, lovely friendly service and the most comfortable beds and fluffy bedlinen.
See stars.
We are received kindly and immediately feel welcome. Our unit was beautiful, clean and special, also because there was a beautiful bunch of flowers and sherry waiting for us. The location was perfect, quiet and peaceful with beautiful surroundings. Even a herd of sheep walked past us on the way down to their overnight accommodation! Breakfast is served neatly, professionally and friendly. Delicious meal. We inquired at several places on short notice and this institution responded within 15 minutes. We recommend de Oude Werf 100%.
Amazing hospitality and service!
Wow, what a gem in the Karoo! Oue Werf is everything any weary traveler wants - a comfortable bed, a great shower and just far enough out of town to offer rest for the soul too. The service was wonderful and breakfast delicious with a variety of options to satisfy any taste. I can't wait to visit again! Next time I will bring my family for sure.
Very friendly staff and the breakfast was delicious. Great accommodation and relaxing place.
We checked in late, around 7pm only. The reception was empty so I walked around looking for someone who could help us. The person who got hold of us was unfriendly. He called the receptionist. She was extremely friendly and helpful. We booked the family room, which clearly said there was a double bed. When we got to our room, it was a 1 bedroom unit, with two three quarter beds pushed together. The receptionist told us that most rooms do not have double beds. She did come back later to tell us that she got us a unit with a double bed, but by then we were already showering and getting ready for bed. (We had to get up early for a jogging race the next morning). The receptionist was very friendly and also arranged for us to have an early breakfast.
Excellent facilities and service. Breathtaking views.
We were pleasantly surprised to get more than what we expected. From the neatness, all-white buildings, beautiful well-kept gardens, to the beautiful cottage, we couldn't help but sit in awe on our little porch and become quiet. The friendly reception by the host, with thorough explanations about how everything works and where everything is, was a bonus. A communication problem between her and the staff member regarding our meal booking, was handled professionally and for that we give her full marks.
It was very nice to experience the old fashioned luxury and hospitality of the family.
See star rating.
Everyone was helpful and everyone had a good time.
Our family stayed at Oue Werf Country House for six nights and still wish we could have stayed longer. We have stayed at many places in our lifetime and Oue Werf is certainly one of the places we will visit again. Perfectly located and not to mention the hospitality we received there. Definitely one of the "top of the crop" places to stay. Many thanks for places like Oue Werf Country House. Food is great and the beds just the right thing for a tired and sore body.
The hospitality and service were excellent, food very good and our pets also enjoyed the stay with beautiful gardens to walk around.
From the moment we arrived, the friendly owners made us feel at home and gave us personal attention until we left. The clean and very comfortable rooms with an old-fashioned touch and yet modern lifestyle were just fantastic! We will definitely go again if we are in that area.
The most fantastic stay: the view, hospitality, food and everything!
We would highly recommend De Oude Werf if you visit Oudtshoorn.
The decor and furniture in especially the first room (which we booked) was very nice.
Neat and hospitable.
