Over Karoo Inn is within walking distance of interesting shops and a variety of restaurants. The Barrydale tourism information centre is just a stone's throw away.
In the near vicinity are the breathtaking Tradauw passes, hiking and mountain biking trails, a brandy cellar, wine tasting, craft beer, nature reserve, wildlife sanctuary, hot water springs and lots of fresh mountain air.
At Over Karoo Inn, there are 2 rooms with a queen-size bed each and a third room suitable for families with a queen-size bed and 2 single beds. Rooms have extra length beds with 100% cotton linen. There is a fan for the summer and a gas heater and electric blanket for the winter evenings in the Little Karoo. Each room has its own private bathroom with a shower, toilet and basin.
The rooms feature a bar fridge, kettle, hairdryer, glassware and crockery, coffee- and tea-making facilities and hot chocolate to enjoy on the private patio while enjoying the views of the birds and the mountains.
Braai facilities, free Wi-Fi and secure parking are also available for guests' use.

Over Karoo Inn is an absolute gem. The location is perfect, the accommodation is clean and beautifully appointed, and the host was very welcoming. I didn't read the description when making the booking, so the electric blankets came as a lovely surprise. Definitely my preferred place for future visits to Barrydale.
Our stay at Over Karoo Inn was a really wonderful experience. (Unfortunately we could only stay for one night.) The accommodation is very close to lovely shops, restaurants and bars, so you can park your car and walk everywhere. The host is a very welcoming person. They pay so much attention to detail in the lovely rooms and garden. Our cottage-style accommodation was absolutely lovely, quaint and cosy.
We were very kindly welcomed by Janine. The accommodation is all that is needed. Very well equipped for an overnight stay. Had a great sleep.
I have stayed at many, many places and this was truly one of the best places ever. There was no shortage of anything; on the contrary, I got much more than I expected!
One of my best stay experiences ever, the hostess is excellent, rooms are excellently equipped, almost all you need to bring is your pyjamas! Will definitely want to stay here again, what a gem of a place!

Was fantastic with the most kindest people. Definitely make a habit of staying here.
Schalk and Janine were amazing. We were running very late due to an issue in Bloemfontein. Not only did Janine accommodate us after our delay and 8pm, but she phoned around to find out if any of the local restaurants were still open so we could have dinner. On top of that, the inn itself is absolutely stunning, quaint and cosy, very comfortable and just what we needed for a good night's rest after an 18-hour drive from Bloem. The only issue we have is that we won't be able to stay there more often. I can't recommend Over Karoo Inn enough. Simply fantastic.
Even though we only stayed one night, the impression made on me was lasting. Janine and Schalk are two beautiful people and made us feel at home from the first meeting. The facilities are of the highest quality and some of the best I have come across. The attention to detail is amazing and everything in and around the facilities is focused on the guests. You have a winning recipe and please don't change it. I can't wait to visit again.
Over Karoo Inn deserves more than just 5 stars. I can't fault absolutely anything. It's clean and tidy and there is everything you could possibly need during your weekend visit. The rooms' decor is even more beautiful than in the photos and everything in the room works! Friendly hosts with whom you quickly feel at home. We will definitely visit again and we will bring friends!

Most friendly, hospitable and helpful owners. Lovely and wonderful first impression of the cleanest, neatest and well maintained place with a beautiful garden and walking distance to shops and restaurants. The beds were very comfortable. This place is furnished with love and care to the smallest detail for guests' comfort. We were pleasantly surprised with the complimentary chocolates, cookies and biscuits, sherry and wide selection of coffee/hot chocolate in the room. The place is also equipped with air conditioning. The room created an atmosphere of a small house. Everything about the place was exceptional. I highly recommend this place and will definitely stay there again.

Probably the neatest, coziest and friendliest place on Route 62 through the Klein Karoo. The detail is incredible, from the hot chocolate in addition to your standard coffee and tea, to the free wood if you want to grill a Karoo choppie. Walking distance to everything in Barrydale (not that the town is very big). I highly recommend them. You will not regret it.

Accommodation was great, good planning was put in, and I really appreciate it. It was very hot when we were there, but our room was cool and in the afternoons it is nice to sit outside and appreciate the garden.

We did find it strange that there was no possibility of rinsing any dirty dishes, no water in the kitchen area. You even have to fill the kettle with bottled water.

We were warmly welcomed and immediately felt at home. The place is beautiful and exactly like the photos. The electric sheets were such a nice treat for the cold evenings. We will definitely go back to Over Karoo Inn and can definitely recommend it.
Clean, friendly, quiet.
The garden is beautiful and imaginatively laid out. The room and porch are very neat and Janine has thought of everything to make the stay there pleasant. Although there are other rooms on the premises, the layout is such that one is not at all aware of other guests. We look forward to our next visit there and, as an added bonus, Barrydale is a charming town!
The reception was warm. We soon felt at home. The room was neat and clean and much more tastefully decorated than the photos suggested. Thank you very much for all the extra treats that were there. The garden is beautifully maintained and it was lovely to be able to sit on the veranda and relax. We really appreciated the follow up text the next day. We definitely recommend this place.

I had a great time sitting on the porch and relaxing after exploring the town. Drank delicious coffee the next morning and saw the sun rise with cheerful birdsong. Wonderful place.

The accommodation was spotless, with a lot of thought put into the smaller, important details. For example, scissors supplied to cut open rusk packets, good size shampoo and body wash in shower. Schalk and Janine make you feel very welcome, plus offer lots of information about Barrydale. Highly recommended accommodation.

All that one needs.
My daughter and I were doing a road trip and stopped off on our way home to Cape Town for St Francis Bay. What a wonderful surprise! I have owned a guest house and been to many but have never seen such attention to detail as Janine has put into this charming little place. It is very conveniently situated on the R62 but as it is behind the main house it is very private and quiet. We will definitely return for longer!

Over Karoo has the most beautiful units, with so much attention paid to detail. The garden is beautiful, the owners are friendly and helpful. It's really a place to recommend. We had a wonderful stay.
The guest house is on the R62 and perfectly located to explore on foot most of Barrydale's unique restaurants and bars. It's walking distance from Diesel and Creme and also from our favorite restaurant in Barrydale, Mez. Schalk, the owner of Over Karoo Inn made sure we had everything we needed and helped book a table at Mez. He also follows the Covid measures that make one feel safer. It was very cold in the Karoo in the evening but the electric blanket on the comfortable bed kept us nice and warm. The room, although small, had everything one could need. Nice plunger coffee, the soap and bedding were of good quality, small fridge, braai facilities and wood/tools were all provided. Parking inside the yard behind a gate.
The room was clean and nicely furnished. Lovely verandah and garden. Good linen, coffee and bathroom products. The host was helpful and friendly. We will stay there next time again.
It has all the necessities you need when on a road trip. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
