Over the Mountain Guest Farm is perfect for couples retreat as well as an ideal family getaway. Rooms have separate entrances for convenience and each has access to a stunning traditional porch ideal for late afternoon reading and relaxing.
The old Police Station on the farm has been transformed into a stunning dining area and lounge which despite renovations boasts original features including the wooden floors, doors and windows adding to the charm of this already idyllic space. The guest farm also has a lovely swimming pool, braai facilities and beautiful tea-garden.
With furniture produced on the farm itself from Blackwood as well as Oregon pine ceilings and floors with yellow wood beams, the characteristic features of the building are accentuated with modern fittings taking the otherwise rustic trappings into the 21st century.

We had a very nice stay.
The guest house is in a very peaceful environment. We had a great stay in the 3-bedrooms and there was also an outdoor kitchen facilities at our disposal. They also provide for lamps for each room during load shedding. The place is neat and clean and is definitely recommended!

The setting is beautiful! Lovely hikes, cycles, pool and well-kept garden. We ordered dinner which was delicious not to mention the breakfast and scones in the tea garden! I would recommend some candles and matches for load shedding although thankfully there is a gas cooker to cook on! Also, our accommodation had a bathroom in one bedroom, so depends who you're sharing with? The Wi-Fi and reception are intermittent, but the hosts offer the use of theirs for anything important or meetings, so it's not really a bother. All in all, a wonderful stay and I would highly recommend it.
Silence and tranquility.
I would love to stay there again, but the modifications to get there are in urgent need of review. The Montagu Pass is closed, impassable. I was totally lost and wondering for sure what would have happened if I didn't have cell phone signal. My poor mother was very traumatized. So you urgently need to look at the amendments please.
We had a lovely short stay in such a stunning setting. The teens enjoyed learning archery too! We just felt the pool should have been cleaned of leaves/ insects and dog droppings picked up off the lawn before we arrived.
Very neat room, but no fan or aircon. Wifi does not work in rooms. Don't get new towels every day. Small kitchen outside if you need to wash bottles for children. Only small flash available if there is loadshedding. Furthermore, very nice accommodation and restaurant.
Directions totally wrong on the website. Just 2 small lamps for loadshedding. No hot water in the evening after 12 hours on the road and 45 min. 's looking for the place. Next morning no hot water. Oh sorry! The geyser was off. Does not make for good service. Weak! We left there with no shower! Please make correct directions to place or add coordinates.
The cottage as well equipped with good beds. An additional toilet separate from master bedroom could work.
Was a little afraid of the no fences and car standing like that in front of the place, but we saw the next day the bikes were still lying there that were there the night before. So it's safe. One small problem. Internet. There is no internet, even though it says there is. If you stand outside the room in the garden you get a little signal. No TV which makes it difficult in the evening with small children. No hair dryer. Usually B&Bs for ladies have a small hairdryer. Will just check it out. But otherwise I would stay there again. Just provide for the rest! Most beautiful views and quiet and really safe. Even though we were a little scared, we slept great.

Microwave would be handy. There is a nice swimming pool and braai facilities, but the weather didn't cooperate. I felt that breakfast at R120 per person was a bit expensive.

Six of us stayed in the family home for a weekend to attend a wedding nearby and it was perfect for what we needed! There is only one bathroom, but we didn't need anything anymore. There are indoor and outdoor braai areas and it is just a nice home!

We arrived early, yet were greeted very friendly and shown our room which already was ready and great. The info given as to what to do in the area were also very helpful. The location is amazing.
Was very peaceful and nice. The owners are very friendly and helped a lot. There are only 2 things that bother: 1 is the stove. He continues to kick off the power. I just used an extension cord to plug him in. 2. You have to turn the bathroom light on and off until it works. Very big frustration. Otherwise it's very nice.

We stayed at Over the Mountain for almost a week and enjoyed every moment. It was our base from where we explored the surrounding area. Our house was simple, but very homely and had everything we needed. Over the Mountain has a great location. It was quiet and dark. We had a lovely time!

The directions that came with the booking had us driving the Montagu Pass (dirt road) instead of the tarmac. The distances weren't right either. The receptionist from Over the Mountain called in the morning. It does not help to try to signal the way for someone while he is driving. I don't know George. The lady was very defensive when we mentioned some of the wrong directions that came with the reservation. The directions were wrong, don't you help pointing the way over the phone, it's not my fault. It did not leave a good taste in the mouth.
Brought family for a few days. The reception was very friendly and helpful, thank you Estelle! The location is exactly what we were looking for with the quiet and the feel of a farm community. There is a lot to explore and we went hiking, jogging, swimming and motorcycling among other things. The rooms are neat and clean with a very nice breakfast. If I had to find something wrong, it would be that the place needs a little paint and a little maintenance here and there. Thanks, will stay again.
Tranquil and safe.
We had a wonderful and interesting stay. The farm has a lot of history. The rooms were very neat and tidy. Gerrit and his wife were very welcoming and friendly, she made us a wonderful supper. The setting of the farm where you look into the mountains was absolutely beautiful. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
The room was neat and clean, as was the bathroom. Got clean towels every day. I would have preferred a small self-catering kitchen with a microwave oven in the room. Missed wine glasses, there were 3 cups and 3 glasses. There was a fridge, which came in very handy. No TV in rooms. Also no breakfast included in price, had to arrange and pay extra with owner.
Winter offer was excellent value for money. Was able to spend quality time as a family.
