The hot tub in the garden is the latest addition to our little bit of paradise; whether you want to enjoy a romantic, relaxing stay or a fun family time, the hot tub ticks all the boxes.
The farmhouse has 3 bedrooms, the main bedroom is furnished with a queen-size bed, and the 2 other bedrooms each have 2 single beds, one of which is situated in the loft. There are 2 bathrooms, both en suite to the downstairs bedrooms. One bathroom is fitted with a bath, toilet and basin, and the other has a shower, toilet and basin. The hot water bath and shower in the forest are a romantic outdoor treat.
The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering with a fridge, stove, microwave, toaster and kettle.
There is a braai area under the trees and a farm dam to cool off.
Explore the forest with magnificent sunsets before the night sky shows off between the treetops. Bring the whole family and enjoy meals under the stars on the braai, which borders the forest. The tame, friendly donkeys, Onkie and Penelope will regularly visit for a pat on the head and looking for a carrot or an apple. Bring your mountain bikes and hiking boots to enjoy the trails on the farm and in the area.

26 guests' feedbackLittle farmhouse is a feast for your soul. The tranquility and natural beauty was wonderful to experience. We had a great time and relaxed and were sorry that the weekend flew by so quickly. Will definitely want to visit there again. And not to mention the donkeys. They were a welcome surprise every day. The two are super cute and so friendly. Just wanted to take them home.
In spite of arriving and departing in rain, our 2-day stay at The Little Farmhouse was most delightful. The spacious cottage has been perfectly renovated and is well appointed, with comfortable beds and warm bedding. Our hosts had even provided hot water bottles, and there was a gift of firewood to keep out the winter chill. One thing I missed was a pair of kitchen scissors! Very picturesque woods, a little waterfall, and a stream close by, with cows, sheep, and lambs on the farm track - we would love to return in summer!
We stayed at Overberg Gems - The Little Farmhouse for a silent retreat. It was peaceful and beautiful. But we were there for the flooding! Kevin - the farmer couldn't have been kinder - checked in on us to see if we were okay, brought extra wood when the electricity went down, let us stay an extra night for free when we got stuck there due to road closures in the storm. They also gave us a bowl of fresh farm eggs to welcome us. Wonderful people.
I think that The Little Farmhouse is suitable for families with children. It is very rustic and laid back with a lovely wooded area in front with an outside hot tub, cold shower and braai area. The weather was very cold when we were there and due to the fact that it is situated amongst many trees, the actual house is freezing. As such, it is much better suited to a summer stay than a winter stay. We didn't make use of the farm itself as we spent time hiking etc off the farm. For us, it was a little too rustic, but I am sure it would suit many people. The showers were lovely and hot, the bed was comfortable. Drinking water was supplied separately.
The stay was nice. Feel that cleanliness can be improved on especially the walls can do with a good wash. The attic room is not a safe option for smaller kids and this can be added in the venue description.
Only irritation were the flies! And a good swimming spot.
This little gem can really be recommended. No cell phone reception or Wi-Fi, a real getaway. Why is nobody talking about the Lions' roars coming from Panthera Africa about 3.5 km away? A real treat. Neat, clean, comfortable stay. The hot tub works well, just follow the instructions to the T. Donkey-greetings in the mornings made for more excitement. The birdlife is amazing. Thank you for a beautiful 4 days. We will be back.
Wow! This place took my breath away! The house is old and full of antiques yet has everything you need. A massive porch overlooks the donkeys grazing on your lawn while steam rises from the wood-fired hot tub, the kids are running off into the forest to catch frogs or feed the Alpacas. Loadshedding hit one night while we were in the hot tub, but the air was clear so we stayed inside the warm water even longer while watching the starry night sky. There's no signal so the days are long and slow, perfect for a mental reset. But the ability to wonder off and explore the farm was my ultimate favourite! We're definitely coming back. Hands down best winter family holiday we've had in years! Warning: The owner refused to tell me, but there is a chemical in the hot tub water that puts you to sleep as soon as you get out of it! Haha!
We spent 4 days at the Little Farmhouse. A well appointed cottage that housed 5 of us comfortably. The hot tub was a welcome addition in the cold weather. The hot water bottles on the beds were a nice touch and were really needed.
Beautiful setting, lovely and rustic farm house accommodation with everything you need. Nice and clean and neat. The hot tub is amazing and a really fun experience. The donkeys came to visit which was great, lots of space to explore, great hosts and just an all round great stay. Would highly recommend and will definitely go back!
We had a great time and played cards around the table on the porch. The small, heated pool was lovely to relax in. Braai was also a hit with fairy lights. Future visitors should only be informed that there is no WiFi or cell phone reception. The upstairs bedroom up stairs has no door. Persons sleeping in the upper room have to go through other rooms to get to the bathroom. Other 2 rooms have en-suite bathrooms. People just take note of it.
A lovely house with a wide porch stands between tall trees and overlooks a recreation area (lawn, hot tub and barbecue area). Ideal for resting, for reading, for socializing.
Piece of gold we found in Stanford. Perfectly located, neat, quiet, value for money, friendly reception, friendly donkeys. Was worth every penny for sure.
The lights in the trees and the new "hot tub" added to the atmosphere. The farm animals that came to say hello in the mornings were a friendly welcome. I would definitely recommend this place for families.
Definitely worth it we will come again!
Outside bathtub took stacks of wood to heat up and water was still lukewarm. Could do with a sharp knife and larger frying pan. One frying pan needed replacing. Seats in 2 chairs in lounge worn out and lumpy. Single bed mattresses like a hammock, need replacing. However, loved the old-world style.
We had a very nice time away with friends. It's quiet, secluded and the lack of internet and cell phone signal is actually a nice break from the hustle and bustle of every day. The house is fantastic, everything you need. The location is also very beautiful and the farm animals roaming around outside are a nice surprise.
Lovely farm atmosphere.
The cottage was well organised and beautifully situated. We could have stayed longer.
We had a great time here - the donkeys and sheep give you the real farm feel!
The touch with the pig ears, we were very impressed.
Beautiful surroundings, very comfortable cottage and awesome hosts.
The Little Farmhouse was everything it promised to be and so much more! We were pleasantly surprised with every element of our accommodation in this charming gem in the Overberg. Highly recommended!
The absolute beauty, and sense of peace, in which accommodation is located, will be hard to beat. They say "to find yourself, you have to loose yourself" - this is where you will come to do it!
There were a bit too many flies, but that's probably because it's on a farm.
Beautiful house that has been furnished and decorated with taste. The Dover stove and fireplace were lovely during the winter cold. The first night we had no electricity from 22:00, but the owner was available all the time, came to inspect the next morning and also apologized solemnly all the time. The next morning he came to see if everything was alright and gave us some of our money back for the inconvenience. Despite the above, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to experience Stanford's splendor and the tranquility of the farm. Really delicious and the basket packed with oranges, olives and wine when we arrived was a kind touch. Only negative point is that there is no microwave, so it struggled with my two year old's bottles.
