She was blown away by the rooms, the watering hole and we could enjoy family time but also individual time. The small things such as decent coffee, sugar and bubble bath! We made memories forever in the most beautiful surroundings.
Had a wonderful stay. Very neat and clean, well equipped. The silence was so peaceful. Bird life is abundant around the cottage.

The accommodation was awesome. More than enough space in the lodge. Everything you need to make food is available. Just bring your own food. Firewood is available and the area is sheltered and warm once you have a fire going at night.

Various animals make a visit daily and as photographers we especially appreciated and enjoyed the variety of birds. A special place that we will definitely see again. Highly recommend it.

Owl Spot is a gem of a place. You get away from the noise of the city to rest with wildlife that comes to your doorstep. It had been an experience for us. Owl Spot pays attention to the smallest detail that other places don't think about. Their advance communication is excellent and it speaks volumes of what one can expect when there. What an excellent location in Dinokeng! The accommodation at Owl Spot is truly exceptional providing an outstanding experience. The setting, with its veranda overlooking the waterhole, is simply perfect. During our stay, we were fortunate to see a diverse array of animals congregate at the waterhole, which added to the peaceful atmosphere. We are definitely looking forward to our next visit to Owl Spot as it left an indelible impression on us.

The accommodation has little touches that make your stay so much more comfortable and pleasant. The layout is simple in the good way, but perfect in proportion and design. From the delicious picnic on our arrival to another zebra greeting on our departure, it was a treat like no other! The accommodation was modern, neat and comfortable and despite a cold winter, it was wonderfully warm inside! The hospitality and excellent service from Marizanne was some of the very best we have ever experienced! This was the first of many visits to Owl Spot!

We had a lovely stay at Owl Spot. We stayed in Marsh Owl. The unit was neat and tidy (inside and outside) and very well equipped with everything you need for a self-catering stay. The location was great, we saw Zebra, Porcupine, Warthog, Kudu and plenty of birds from our patio. We will definitely visit again.
The outdoor shower was a hit especially with our toddler. Lions hear glasses in the evening. Very nice experience. Really a surprising place. Quiet, in the woods, close to Pretoria and clean, tidy, furnished and child-friendly.

The host kept us updated on WhatsApp and was always available when we needed her, but left us in peace and privacy. One of the best weekends away we have had in many years. Zebra, impala, kudu and birds, lots of birds on our doorstep.

The Marsh Owl chalet is a lovely, practical and comfortable, and the ideal accommodation for a couple. The standard of presentation is equal to, or better than, any international tourist accommodation. The fact that it is in such an exceptional setting elevates the rating to the best. The service is personal and top notch. This is a gem.
We felt very safe as 3 ladies and it was very peaceful and quiet with beautiful birdlife.

It was definitely worth it. The kids enjoyed it a lot. The place is very nice and clean.
The best part was the game drive - thank you Corrie. Unfortunately the unit was infested with bed bugs. Unbearable sleepless nights. Marizaan was responsive to the situation however could not offer an alternative unit. Mattresses were swopped and linen cleaned however this did nothing to alleviate the continual bites. The girls had to travel to a pharmacy for medication. Additional meds had to be purchased on the return home and travel bags and clothing came home with bugs. Currently having to take extensive measures to eradicate and prevent further infestion in our homes. A great disappoint to a long awaited trip to celebrate graduation with close friends.
Went on a game drive, guide was full of knowledge, did other activities like the bush spa and bush picnic which are worth the money and the animals came to say hello every day at the waterhole next to the wire.

Here you can't help but relax. It really is a piece of heaven on earth. The wildlife came and went at the water hole at the unit all day and it was lovely to sit and watch them live in their natural environment. The unit was clean and has everything one needs to make a getaway comfortable. During the game drive the guide was friendly and very knowledgeable. The game drive was really enjoyable and educational. We have already recommended Owl Spot to others and will be going back again ourselves.

This is an absolute gem! The chalet is beautifully appointed (we stayed in Scops Owl) and the view of the water hole from your own patio is incredible. The hosts really do go the extra mile to make your stay enjoyable and expertly booked other activities for us (game drive, bush walk). The romantic bush picnic is also highly recommended. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend Owl Spot to our family and friends.

The accommodation is pretty modern and very tidy. The environment is breathtaking in the heart of the woods with animals that move past your cottage all day. Because of the many bushes it feels like you are alone there because you don't see the other units and that makes the experience even better.

Unfortunately after more than 10 hours of driving in Dinokeng we saw nothing of the Big 5. The unit we stayed in was very warm and the owner can put in an air conditioner.
The mattress in the lower room is soggy and needs to be replaced. The bed in the upper room has been temporarily fixed with a board, and this needs to be addressed. We couldn't find instructions for turning on the gas oven (may be there, but we didn't see it).

Our 3 days at Mars Owl gave us so much rest. The place is spacious and tidy and everyone is so friendly and helpful. It's nice and quiet and the wildlife comes to eat and drink almost on your porch. The game drive was special as was the picnic. First class.
Unfortunately we only stayed one night, but it was a really good experience. From the booking to the departure we were kept informed about literally everything available and then we also went on a game drive which was a really nice experience. The house is well equipped with literally everything you will need to cook and sleep over. It was clean and tidy and we could hear the nocturnal animals from the large veranda. Would really recommend Owl Spot and feel free to do the game drive on offer. We were spoiled!

We booked a stay at the Owl Spot while my brother was here from Australia, as he was desperate to get into the bush, but only here for a week so we couldn't go anywhere that required lengthy travel. We were so pleasantly surprised to find that the 2 units we had booked were close enough to each other, but both very private. Marizanne was wonderful to deal with, going our of her way to ensure we were looked after, and very helpful when I asked about having a game drive, and she organised it all for us. The bird life was incredible and we spent many hours just sitting on the patio looking at various beautiful birds in the trees around us. The unit was clean, spacious and well equipped for our stay. I would definitely recommend a stay, we will certainly be back.

There are only four houses on Owl Spot and each one is wonderful on its own. We stayed in Marsh Owl. The house is well equipped (I have my own coffee plunger) and very convenient. Marizanne is a dear hostess and makes every effort to facilitate her guests' stay. Bring your own wood and ice. We were uncertain about the timber regulations on the transport of timber in certain areas. Remember mosquito repellents too! We watched such beautiful stars in the clear sky and enjoyed the animals walking to the watering hole. There are lovely birds in the area! And silence, wonderful silence! Lovely, comfortable stay!
The unit was neat and clean with everything you need, the zebras, blue wildebeest, kudus and moose walked past us. In the evenings you could hear the foxes while sitting next to a fire. The service was great and Marizanne and Jacques were always helpful. Would definitely recommend and go again for sure.

Had a very nice week. The children enjoyed it and played well. It was nice to show and explain the wildlife in the area to the children. The night visit of the Jackals was special and something special.
The Dinokeng Game Reserve is quite confusing to find out where to drive. We got quite lost a few times. It is extremely expensive compared to other reserves as they want you to pay a daily self-drive rate which is definitely not worth it. I found that quite off-putting. The units at owl spot are lovely but walking area is quite limited.
We had a really lovely stay at Owl Spot. Accommodation is great, chalets seem recently refurbished so sparkling clean and new! Best shower I have had in a holiday house and awesome bathtub too. Well equipped kitchen, great braai area and stoep. Such a treat to have soft green grass around the house too! Dinokeng itself can be a bit hit and miss in terms of animal spotting, so would recommend doing the guided game drive with Jacques and Marizanne. Very reasonably priced. Such a convenient spot to get to. Great hosts and overall a good experience. We will be back.

Two houses on site and each one is very private. Lovely quiet and clean away from the hustle and bustle of the city. House looks like the photos, with no negative surprises! This is a gem to be discovered! Beautiful clean chalets in the heart of the bushveld of the Dinokeng Nature Reserve on the outskirts of Pretoria. Everything you need in this beautiful tranquil piece of nature. Enjoyed one of the best steak braais the Friday evening upon arrival and after our game drive on Saturday we prepared oxtail and lamb potjies outside our chalet with a huge bonfire at the braai area. Jacques and Marizanne have a passion for what they do and they will make a massive success of this new venture!

We had the privilege of being able to enjoy a wonderful weekend at Owl Spot Lodge. Every evening the lovely woodland silence next to a fire with the sounds of wild animals in the background. What more could we ask for to be able to just relax and forget about the everyday hustle and bustle. Jacques, our tour guide, showed us the scenic beauty of Dinokeng properly on Sunday morning and the treat with the coffee stop in the Reserve was delicious. Owl Spot Lodge is the ideal accommodation if you just want to get away and relax, the units were beautifully clean and fully equipped with everything you would need.
