The accommodation once again welcomed us with open arms. Lovely little house on a farm with the tranquility, view, and heaven for the soul. Everything you need, with an emphasis on detail. Nice hot water and bedding (enough blankets, hot water bags, and electric blankets) against the cold. Indoor fireplace and outdoor grill - takes a lot of wood! Had a great time and felt welcome. Thank you for your hospitality.
An incredibly quaint cottage full of the unexpected! Perfectly equipped with everything you need, including an indoor fireplace, down duvets, and electric blankets to keep out the winter chill. The attention to detail of the interior decor is sure to make you smile, including reminders of my Ouma's house Morning and afternoon visits from the donkeys were an unexpected delight. Oudi, the pug, welcomes you with body-shaking wags, and he is extremely adorable. We loved our stay and will definitely be back.
Amazing, everything at Pa se Engel Oppi Plaas was perfect. The cottage "Die Meulhuis" is perfect. Bring food, clothes, and wood; the rest is catered for. Beautiful views during the day, amazing stargazing at night, quiet and peaceful - perfect to recharge the soul. The 20km dirt road coming in to the farm was a lot of fun. It had a few standing water spots (83mm rain in the week leading up to our stay) with slightly muddy terrain here and there, but the trusty Isuzu 4X4 handled it with ease at an average of 50km/h. Not a bad road at all. We will definitely be back.

What a wonderful way to experience the Karoo! The cottage has stylish Karoo decor with everything to make your stay 5-star. We loved our overnight stay but wish we had booked for 2 nights. The stars at night were incredible, will never forget the experience.

Very nice stay in the Father's Angel Oppi Farm. The cottage is beautiful inside and everything you need is available. Warm blanket and winter sheets over the bed. The fireplace was a savior on a very cold evening. Quiet and peaceful, safe and beautiful stars. Will definitely stay there again.
This is such a quirky and charming farm cottage, well-equipped and very comfortable. We had only booked for two nights but could happily have stayed longer.

We really had a great time and the children could move freely on the farm. The donkeys are tame and have given them endless pleasure. Furthermore, everything was very neat and clean, equipped with the necessary and the warm blankets and fireplace were wonderful in the cold. The owner and his wife came to visit and are really nice and helpful people. My little boy forgot his sleeping pad and they returned it to us by paxi. Just excellent!

Very nice place. A lot of effort has been put into the decor and it fits well with the farm feel. Very healthy bird life at the dam and surrounding area.
A calm, peaceful, farm stay on the Roggeveld. We enjoyed the birds and the beautiful spring bulbs and long walks through the veld. We were visited by tame donkeys, geese and a muscovy duck. The house was very comfortable and warm with electric blankets on the beds and wall heater panels which made it easier to cope with the extreme upper Karoo cold during our stay. I would happily visit this farm again. I felt completely safe. It was also wonderful to find a small corbelled house on the farm.

The School is a beautiful little house. You immediately feel welcome. Very comfortable and equipped with everything against the cold. Although we only stayed 1 night, you should definitely consider staying longer. The surroundings and silence are soul food.
Dad's Angel is a place where time is forgotten and stars still shine, more than you can count, host and wife are beautiful people of heart. The silence is incredible, freezing cold with ice on vehicles in the early morning, which melts with the glorious rising of the sun. This little place is fully equipped, very tidy, an incredible fireplace/braai inside and outside. It's rustic and beautiful, just bring food and wood, lots and lots of wood. The decor is beautiful with the wooden beams and incredibly beautiful works of art. Beds are warm with extra blankets and heaters should you require them. There are board games and cards with a kitchen table in the heart of the house right by the fire. Books galore to read by the warm log fire. There is also wifi available at the main house for emergencies and MTN reception in places if you move around. You will definitely be amazed at the beautiful view of the pond, and there are birds in abundance. The shower is fantastic and the private toilet offers a window with a view of the farm. Dad's Angel is the ideal place to recharge and relax. Here there is no rush or rush, just an open space for you to enjoy and discover. Your soul will find peace here and your heart will beat in the rhythm of creation. It's where heaven meets earth. This jewel in the heart of nature will enchant you with its simplicity and its silence. It is a place where your dreams come to life and your heart opens to the wonder of life. Dad's Angel is where you can get away from the day-to-day rush and breathe again. This gem is one you should not miss. Thank you for allowing us to share your incredible hospitality and piece of heaven, it was indeed a privilege! We will definitely be back, this time with more wood and a few nights to take it all in.
We had a wonderful time at the piece of heaven, your soul is fed and your heart is full of the right things again. Here you realize that a simple life is a grateful life. It is a birdwatcher's paradise and I entertained myself for hours taking photos of the ewes and their lambs grazing right outside the door. The town is far and the dirt roads long, so plan your trip in advance and take enough of everything with you. You will definitely see us again!
The unit was neat and clean upon our arrival. Everything we needed was there and we had a wonderful stay. Alene even sent us the power schedule for the weekend.
Real working farm, you soon forget the hustle and bustle of the city.
This is the place where you can get away from everything that just makes noise in your life. Your cell doesn't work here, you read a real book and go for long walks.
We were really surprised with the beautiful place to stay where you could feel the silence. Walked around and found nature and remnants of previous occupants which awakened a nostalgia. Thank you Alene.
Very nice view of the farm pond with geese. Everything has an old-fashioned Karoo charm, which makes you switch off well. We were there with terrible winds (35km/h+), so it was thoroughly cold and we had to dress warmly. The house does have a heater and electric blankets. Warning: the dirt road is a tough one to travel on (we had rain in the weeks leading up to our visit), so drive carefully and add a few minutes to travel times.
Lovely little cottage, with nice touches like the wall heaters and electric blankets. This was most definitely needed with the cold wind and weather. Road to the cottages is not really sedan-friendly and took 40 min+ to travel the 20 km. Wifi only at the main house and not available at the cottages. No normal cell phone reception.

Most incredible visit on Helderkruin farm with the area called Pa se Engel. Incredible rustic home with everything equipped in the kitchen and braai facilities with the farm pond on your doorstep. Dead silence with a starry sky that I could photograph myself with my mobile phone. Our dog also had a great time frolicking in the pond and area. It's an incredible place with no WiFi or cell phone reception and where you and your spouse dust off your souls and talk about 30 and 40 years back around the indoor fire and outdoor barbecue area, as befits a break away from the daily hustle and bustle. Thank you very much for allowing us to enjoy your place Alene.
The farm is wonderful by the dam. Just a shame the 30+ km to the farm on the dirt road was a nightmare, apparently because recent rain. No wifi or cell phone reception at the cottage, but the tranquility is fantastic. Nice and cold, but fire in the fireplace made up for it.
Everything the heart and soul requires. It had everything we needed and more on a very cold weekend so I can say enough. If you are looking for peace and a break from day-to-day life with beautiful stars, this is the place to book.
