The stay over the weekend was incredible, a lot of space to walk, drive, run and explore! Not to mention the good fishing!
Peaceful getaway. We from every day's city rush. Ideal place to get away from it all and experience nature's beauty. No cell phone signal at the accommodation, it's perfect. The river is beautiful. Lots of animals to see, even if it's on a self drive. Would go again anytime.
Place was clean and well maintained. Each cottage has a nice large site and is private. Outdoor showers are a winner.

This is one weekend that was needed to get away from all the noise of the city.
Kingfisher cottage is perfectly suited for a large family with two adjoining rondavels with own bathrooms. Main farmhouse has three double bedrooms and one full bathroom with bath/shower combo and toilet and a single toilet. Rooms spacious. Bed linen and duvets could be updated.
Staying at the Palala River Cottage is such a pleasure. It is remote enough to relax and unwind in a peaceful bush setting, yet accessible enough not to need a 4x4. The well-equipped self-catering cottage on the banks of the Palala River had everything we needed and the option of game drives or guided walks. In my opinion, the greatest aspect of the Jembisa Private Game Reserve is to be able to walk, ride or run freely around the 3000-ha property. It provides all conditions for trail runners from river crossings, sand, marsh, rocky sections, mountain - you name it and they have it. This variety in turn results in great diversity of plant and animal life. What an absolute pleasure it was to enjoy this gem of the Waterberg. I can't wait to return.
Wow, wow, wow. What an awesome place. The hospitality from our arrival to our departure was top notch. The most beautiful views and silence are just what you will find here, away from everything. It was the first time, but not the last time.
The stay was everything we expected and more. The cottage was clean and well maintained, so well-appointed and tastefully decorated. It was so peaceful and the surrounding environment revived the soul. The fishing was good. We went on self-drives and saw so many beautiful scenes. Would definitely recommend this cottage and will definitely be going back again. 5 stars.
We stayed for 2 nights but ideally a 3-night stay would have been perfect. Samia Cottage is surrounded by the bush and perfectly suited for those who want to relax but with all the amenities offered. The beds, linen and decor are superb. The bathrooms have a bath and a shower. Our game ranger, Ed, took us on the most incredible game drive. Our best yet. His knowledge and passion is outstanding. Some of us went biking in the bush to top off an exceptional weekend. Boma braais at dusk into the night were epic. We will definitely be back!
The place is really beautiful, it's very peaceful and relaxing, definitely a place to disconnect and find yourself, or reflect. The hosts are really something to write home about, they were nothing short of amazing. Loved every minute of it.

Booking was effortless and communication was very good with the lodge & staff. Massages were relaxing but the masseuse needs some professional training regarding technique. The setting is lovely, the house is great. Mattresses are terribly hard. You might do well to bring an air mattress along. The foot piece at the bottom of the bed is not comfortable for tall guests. Overall the stay was great, exactly what our family needed!
We had a bit of a power issue, but it got sorted out very quickly. My husband was a bit tall for the cottage so next time we will definitely book another unit but overall very nice.

It was a special experience to stay in Samia Cottage. The view, the lovely boma and lovely fireplace were exceptional. Our kids had a blast playing around the house, the forest roads were lovely to drive and we were so privileged to tag the GrootLangtoon at the beautiful bird display. The local bird and animal list was extra special, and we are grateful to Lorraine who helped with everything from buying extra wood to a needle to get a thorn out of our eldest's foot! It was truly a resting place full of peace that we will definitely visit again.

The cottage was even better than we were expecting, everything we needed was there. We enjoyed being able to walk in the bush and go for a drive and because of all the rain, (experienced country wide) we didn't feel guilty about kicking back and enjoying some reading. It's one of the best destinations we have experienced which means we'll be back.

We were received very kindly, everything was clean and tidy. My husband and I had a wonderful walk and I will definitely come back again because there are still many places we want to explore on the farm.
This was our 2nd time at Palala River Cottages. The unit is alone and away from the rest of the lodge. No cell phone reception. We had so much fun and relaxed and forgot about everything. Great fishing in the river as well as driving around the farm. We are considering making this an annual institution.
The Reserve is beautifully set with the Palala river, mountain and bushveld surrounding allowing one to enjoy the scenery in peace and quiet. We are looking forward to our next visit.

The Palala River Cottages were lovely and relaxing. They are a great hideaway, free from the hustle and also bustle of city life.
The home was clean, the game drive was excellent. Clayton was the driver and he was the best. Only wish they had swimming where we were for entertainment. Will definitely go back with family.
The cottage is far from everyone and everything, all facilities there, only thing to get used to is the bath/shower in brown river water.

We spent a long weekend in the Kingfisher Cottage and it was lovely. We would have liked to stay longer. The house is well equipped and it was nice to be able to hang out under the big trees. Really a place where one can just calm down and relax.

The place is awesome, but there is literally nothing to do. Would recommend that you bring something in.
Beautifully clean and private and the bushveld at its best. I had reservations at first about the stairs for us "oldies" over 70, but it didn't bother us and we really enjoyed the view from the deck. We would love to come again.

We had a lovely stay in one of the Podica Bush Camp Rondawels. The rondavels are free-standing with your own braai place and private outside shower. We enjoyed a self-drive around the reserve, game spotting and mountain-biking. Very highly recommended.
We stayed in the river cottage for 3 nights. I was a bit sceptical because of the low rates, but were pleasantly surprised. The cottage is completely private and you don't see or hear anyone. Everything you need is there - and the bottle of wine and packed fires make you feel so welcome. The outside shower is so good and linen and towels are very good quality. We saw 4 giraffe on our short hike and the crocodile came to visit in the river just below the cottage. We drove around on the reserve and had a nice picnic with an amazing view. We will definitely be back soon!
The river cottage is private, very tidy and the perfect place for a necessary break for a couple. It is a small cottage but fantastically equipped with boiling hot water, very pleasant kitchen with everything you need. It is on the river and many goat and animal species pass by. We are going back for sure!
Cottages are simple but very comfortable. Cell phone reception is very poor so guests should make sure they know exactly how to reach accommodation. It is a lovely getaway.

It's truly a paradise in the heart of the Bosveld. Would highly recommend the place to anyone looking for peace and quiet. Unfortunately, Podica 1 did not signal. A bit difficult to do business from the chalet.
Was disappointed that the bathroom light didn't work. Two of the chairs' seats were broken. A tile on the corner of the kitchen worktop has broken away and has a dangerously sharp point.
Horrible! Run away!
