57 guests' feedbackWe really enjoyed our stay at Paradise Village, great staff.
Paradise Village is a lovely place to rest along the Magalies River. Better than camping, had everything we needed. Warm bed and hot water. Pool to cool off and breathtaking scenery. Nonnie and her cute dog were very friendly and immediately made us feel at home. Thanks for visiting, we'll see you again!
Yes hey, nice stay but premises urgently need maintenance.
We arrived late at night and only needed a place to sleep for the night, so, we cannot judge the entire place, but only the room we stayed in. The room felt as if there is no or very little maintenance going into the room. The shower was dusty and looked like it was not cleaned for several days. There was no curtain in front of the bathroom and we had to hang something there so people cannot look in from the outside. The shower water was nice and warm and everthing was working. Sections of the reeds inside the room on the ceiling of the roof is hanging loose and gives a feeling of decay and poor maintenance. The room door could not lock from the inside, nothing happened so, we cannot really complain about that, it just felt unsafe. The mattress in the unit we stayed in is way past the point it should be replaced. The mattress was not comfortable at all. The owner is very friendly and assisted us very well when we arrived. We do feel the price we paid is a bit over priced. This is a gem of a place and with a little bit of maintenance and attention, could be a diamond of a place.
No hot water. Not good power, everything goes on and off when you use the plugs.
Worst weekend away ever.
Very private which was perfect, everyone was very friendly. Will stay there again.
Unfortunately, we were asked to bring our own glasses. When we arrived some of the rooms had no electricity and this was an ongoing problem throughout the weekend. The dstv did not accommodate sport. We had to go out to watch the rugby on Saturday. One of the friends found rat droppings in his bed. There were issues with the water, we had 2 showers between 20 people. Some of the rooms' doors did not close and we had the owner's dogs coming in, one of the rooms the door fell off its hinges.
Buildings need a upgrade. A bit dilapidated.
Place looks nice and cute, but we are disappointed in the following: The room had many small spiders and nests. Spiders inside the bed that had no sheets and the blanket that was on was dirty. Not acceptable at all. The people next door in tin houses made noise until very late. I would not advise anyone to spend the night there, Paradise Village drags the website's name through the mud. They should take the place off their database, it's neglected and weak. Carpets and bed base dirty. Not decent shower curtain. Water from shower ran out. No hanging space for your clothes and towels. Short on attention for sure.
Noni was such a good host. She catered so comfortable and made our stay so peaceful. Her helper Owen was also of good help. I would return and recommend her hospitality and accommodation to anyone.
Friday evening was wet and cold - then I saw the electric blanket on my bed. Wow! The bedding is top quality and very clean. We could listen to our favorite songs without worrying about the neighbours. This is truly a paradise where you can sleep. Awe.
Great place for a group of friends to breakaway. The host was very friendly and helpful.
Nonnie and Owen are very friendly and helpful. Only negative thing was the trucks that passed by in the evening and made noise. Otherwise nice and would go again.
Enjoyed it a lot, and had a great time relaxing. Thank you very much.
If you fear spiders, stay away. Toilet leaks when you flush it. Faucet runs all day. Floor in bathroom giving in from all the water leaking from the shower. Mouse in bathroom. Carpets need a wash. Place is neat, but needs a lot of attention.
Expected much more for the price we paid.
Interesting place.
Lovely peaceful accommodation between trees and near the river. Bamboos huts create an oriental feel but can be upgraded inside. Carpets in toilets do not work so well. Owen tried really hard to sort out any problem we had. One person to handle everything is too few. Owner's dogs in our cabins and everywhere between us were sometimes a problem for us. Fortunately, Nonnie, the owner closed them when she saw that it was bothering us.
Thank you so much, Noni, for the wonderful peaceful weekend. This rustic place with bamboo houses was the best place we could of chosen for the weekend breakaway. We were made to feel welcome. Meschak was available at all times if we were in need of his assistance. We were able to view the different bird species while sitting near the river running along the banks of Paradise Village. It was amazing to see fire flies down on the river bank, brought back some fond childhood memories.
It was not a good experience at all, at first they wanted to put us at the river, dangerous for our baby boy traveling (1 year old) with us, no welcoming party, no candles etc for the load shedding, we could not see where to walk when we arrived from our wedding at Green Leafs at about 9 the evening, no fans, it was not a good experience at all.. Could not sleep dogs barking very load and kept the baby awake all night, we were very very tired and could not wait to leave
Beautiful people who own the place, very friendly and you feel at home. Surrounded by nature, expect a breathtaking, rough place that offers as much as you need. Will definitely be back week for a breakaway session.
We had a great time. The amenities were just what one needed. The owners were amazing and made sure we enjoyed our stay at Paradise Village.
We would highly recommend Paradise Village for a good getaway. Nonnie and her husband made us feel so welcome. The chalets are also comfortably furnished and very, very secure parking is available to all. Paradise Village is also conveniently close to everything.
See stars.
Very nice visit between the trees with the little river that was in front of us. Will do it again for sure.
We booked and confirmed for 28 people. I personally visited them to confirm room allocations. Followed up with an email with an attachment for the room allocations in February and phoned 4 days before our arrival. I was told all along not to worry, that everything was booked and ready. Upon arrival however Nonnie told me that she only had accommodation for 14 people. Several of these families had travelled very far for a wedding. Nonnie was not warm and was unapologetic and indifferent. They claim to be self-catering with all utensils and kitchen requirements. We were told we only need to bring our own towels. Nothing was provided as advertised. Very poor service and accommodation.
Terribly good service, very hospitable. The house and facilities are neat.
Owners and staff are very friendly and the the beds were very comfortable and clean.
I did not meet Nonnie personally as we were attending a wedding and I helped out there but she was so helpful and welcoming the guys and making their stay more pleasant. When we got to the chalets really late, the lights were left on for us and we had an electric blanket. The showers were nice and hot. Rooms were very clean and I can personally say I smelled the washing powder on the duvet, so they were definitely clean. I would definitely visit again, it is a great way to break away from technology although there is a TV, the area was a lot more beautiful to look at. We loved the dogs and they are super friendly and such cuties. Thank you for a great stay.
We really enjoyed the break in the forest. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is very peaceful.
The people are very friendly and with the river flowing through there it's very peaceful.
Mosquitoes bother a bit but otherwise a very nice and peaceful atmosphere.
The tree house was cute. Children really enjoyed it.
Quaint place in summer, too cold in winter.
Its located outside of the busy Hartbeespoort night life and is nice and relaxing, but not too far from visiting a shop quickly.
Cute idea and nice forest feeling. But for what you pay I expected more. Owners very nice and helpful.
No towel, torn bedding, right next to a busy road and corrugated iron houses for noisy workers, sliding door that is hard to move, blue wire window shutters, no water in the middle of the night.
This place is a disaster. My friend and I booked one night because we had a race to run the next morning. We arrived at around 20:00 at night and to our surprise, the place was definitely not what we expected. Reception looks unwelcoming, when we arrive in the room, the light was on, the door was wide open, it was filled with mosquitoes, the carperts were as if the animals has been sleeping in the room, filled with animal fur, unpleasant smell, dust and spider webs all over. We asked for the doom to spray away the mosquitoes, the owner sent her helper with a bottle of water mixed with pine gel. The beds were so uncomfortable, the linen was so dirty we had to use our own towels as sheets. There were no cupboards to hang our clothes, no television set, the toilet and showers were outside the room, so during the night we were afraid to access the toilet until the morning. The place is so scary and unsafe for female guests. Some of the window pains in our room were broken, during the night we were getting cold, no heater/fan, nothing. There is no gate, safety of guests' cars is highly compromised. We had to sleep there only because it was already late and we had an early morning for the race, but seriously, we don't think some people would have slept there.
My husband and I visitd Paradise Village the preceding weekend and, as explained telephonically to Abigail, we were utterly disappointed. No proper entrance, unsafe, dirty, green pool and the Jacuzzi is out of order. No reception just a young man who told us the "manager" was not there and we could call her later. So we decided to forfeit our R480 deposit rather than staying there. This place should not be approved in my opinion.
We had a very nice stay at Paradise Village! Very friendly service!
The place is great, it was quite cold but we enjoyed the experience. It was like being in the bush.
It is such a beautiful place and so refreshing. I felt isolated from the world which is exactly what I needed.
No power when we wanted to watch the rugby test against Ireland. Hostess very friendly and hospitable. Not much to do in winter or when the power is out - no "back-up generator".
The owner is incredibly friendly and helpful, so 10 out of 10 for her! But if you are looking for a luxury place, this is not the place. It's very beautiful and I think there is a lot of potential, but it reminds me of camping. I think the price is a bit high for what you get. Cute setup, but the bed was old and very hard. The bedding doesn't look nice anymore, and there was no hot water, but I learned that the problem was solved after we left. But as I say, the owner goes out of her way to help so thanks for that.
I liked the view, but there was no hot water in our bedroom. We had to bath in another room and toilet was dirty when we arrived there, but after telling them they sent someone to clean it. Other than that it was okay .
The dogs are in your face the whole time.
In my opinion the place was unneat. It needs some rejuvenation and attention to the terrain is much needed. For what it offers, the tariffs are a bit steep.
The room was smelly, mouldy. They have dogs running around the place. Jacuzzi was not working. No privacy at all, especially the kitchen area. Place desperately needs an upgrade. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Bedding was dirty, the toilets were leaking and it's not hygienic. Dogs are all over the place, inside the chalet there is a notice that says enter at your own risk, surely they are aware that this is a mistake. There is no cleaning people, only one guy. There is no receptionist to welcome you and to address the guest.
I enjoyed every moment there. Peace a quiet and it was a bonus that we were the only ones there.
Would have loved to have slept later than 05:45 in the morning, but the dogs did not allow it. However, it's a lovely place with very friendly staff.
Serene and beautiful setting.
