Very nice stay with good service and everything.
Paternoster Hotel was conveniently located in the central town area and we could hear the waves breaking on the beach during the evening. Everything was nice within walking distance from the hotel. Carisma went out of her way to make things easy for us as my wife had to cross the road with a crutch during our stay.

The receptionist was great, friendly and made us feel very welcome. The room was neatly redone and also had a view of a piece of sea. All in all a very nice experience. Breakfast was nice. Will come stay again.

Fine - staff were great - pity all the litter in the gardens etc wasn't cleaned - pub needs a make over - (can keep the underwear- part of the tradition).
Absolutely fantastic. Room was comfortable, neat and tidy. Breakfast was fantastic next to the open fireplace and the warmth radiating throughout the room. Will recommend definitely for a short, comfortable stay.
What I can recommend most about the Paternoster Hotel is their staff. They are friendly and accommodating. They are heart people. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

A pleasant enough stay, but not a place to stay should you wish for peace and quiet. I would suggest eating elsewhere. The room was clean, pleasant and recently refurbished but everything else seems a bit worn out. Comfortable bed but the bedding is also a tad tired, as are the towels. Handy for walking to local restaurants and a few shops.

The room we occupied was poorly furnished (Room 7). The door to the back entrance was very disturbing (banging continuously). The breakfast menu was very limited. A bar fridge in the room would be a big plus.

The hotel is a little dated and could do better with room heating and cool facilities. The breakfast area was not good (plastic chairs and very dated tables). It's more a roadside motel than a hotel. Ensure you always book units 1 to 4 only. The balance of the rooms has no natural sunlight. Very dark and dingy.

My husband is disabled and needed a stool for the shower. No help received. I later had to fetch a chair myself from their storage and carry it to the room while the staff looked at me and offered no help. There were also other examples of unkindness.
The hotel is run down, old and tired. The term "sea view rooms" is raising unrealistic expectations as the actual views are over the car park, over the main road, with some distant glimpses of the sea. The bar is a local joint and not in a quaint friendly way. Locals come there to drink, get drunk and pick up fights and the place has zero ventilation with smoking allowed. The person checking us in and out tried his best but the systems let him down and the verandah resembles a school hostel from the seventies. The staff generally were friendly and efficient and breakfast was tasty. However pay the extra and stay in a guest house but make sure it is on the beach else stay home.
We arrived on a Saturday afternoon, very busy and waited for someone to check us in. Nobody at reception.
Paternoster Hotel is not up to standard at all. There were no soap dishes in the shower. Shower and towels were dirty. Only one half toilet roll in bathroom. Was not value for money at all and will not book there again. The person at reception came to meet us with a cigarette in his mouth. Bad taste.

Will not stay here again. Poor service delivery at all levels. For what they charge per night we could have checked into a guest house for the same cost. Their standards are very low. Long wait at reception only to be welcomed by a man under the influence. Absolutely unacceptable.

My wife and I stayed at the Paternoster Hotel for 4 nights during October 2019. The new sea view rooms have been recently redone, beautiful, comfortable and clean. The staff is very friendly and the bar is cosy with many locals visiting it. The food is good and everything is good value for money. Will want to go back again.
I was given a friendly and warm welcome. For me, the best of all was having a safe spot to store my bicycle. The staff are knowledgeable about Paternoster and willing to advise one where to go to.

The hotel is perfectly situated. Every place we wanted to visit is literally within walking distance. The welcome and service we received upon arrival was amazing and this continued throughout our stay. The breakfast, which was included, is scrumptious and very filling. Highly recommended. I would encourage anyone to stay at the hotel and to visit the infamous "Panty Bar" for a drink!

Staff brought up our check-in time without difficulty - made sure we enjoyed watching rugby - informed us about attractions in Paternoster, bedrooms neat and comfortable. Breakfast has a unique taste and flavor of its own, not like in stereotypical chain eateries.

The room was neat and modern with a sea view. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were helpful. The hotel is on the main street so there was a lot of traffic and the noise that goes with it. So not the quietest atmosphere one would expect from a small West Coast town. A safe or at least a lockable cupboard in the room would be welcome. But we had a very nice stay.

The hotel is quite a shock when you first see the place as it's a single story building that was built in 1873 I think. However, we had a sea facing room with a very comfortable queen size bed, a bathroom with a separate shower. Very clean and comfortable. The food in the restuarant was tasty and well cooked as was the breakfast. Their kitchen was spotless (I left my freezer food there) and the antique furnishings fitted in very nicely with the age of the hotel. My only negative was that I think an internal upgrade to the accommodation would not be out of place in areas such as the bathrooms. Pricing good though.

Good evening, after a wonderful reception at Hamlet Country Lodge, Paternoster Hotel was a big mess! We called to say we would arrive after six. Cold reception, room was freezing, heater was broken, no hot water. The smell of old oil warned us not to take dinner. Luckily there was a Restaurant open that made fresh pizzas. Although it was freezing, the manager provided us with blankets, we ate deliciously. Unfortunately, back in the hotel room, the nightmare began. No DStv, apparently working on it. Beds were extremely pathetic! No bottom sheet on mattress, extremely hygienic and freezing, just 'synthetic duvet' Luckily brought knee blanket to put under sheet. No 'amenities'. The idea of taking a hot bath before bed quickly turned into part 3 of nightmare, no hot water! Decided to give them a chance until morning! Morning nightmare continues! No hot water again. Freezing outside! After I called the receptionist she was willing to come and talk to us herself, apparently the municipality's fault! I said I refuse to pay for poor service. To give them credit they paid us back in cash minus breakfast.
The room is very simple with an uncomfortable mattress and pillow. Only a duvet on the bed and no linen. The shower and bath are uncomfortable and too slippery. Shower curtain was dirty. Breakfast was a let down. Bad service! Stay away.
