52 guests' feedbackWe had a great stay in one of the tents tucked away in the jungle-like forest. The host was very kind and welcoming. The communal kitchen area was super well-equipped and so nicely set up. One of the best showers I have ever had. The whole place makes you feel very close to nature, and we would love to come back!
It was wonderful to stay so close to nature.
We loved the place! We would love to go back again when we come again.
Very nice and quiet, no interruptions.
Owner friendly and helpful. All facilities were neat and clean.
Delicious. Did have a medical emergency and the owners were extremely helpful with a full medical kit. The accommodation is indeed in the forest, so take enough light devices with you if you go. Stumbled into some branches and fell.
No, it is not at all like the intern photos. The tent is battered and needs a lot of work.
The photos are correct as advertised, it was nice to walk around the farm. Common facilities are clean and tidy, friendly service. Easy to find the place, peaceful place.
Would recommend for a unique experience.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
See stars.
Will definitely stay there again.
No fires used at tents. This is understandable. Nice outdoor life experience.
Was pleasantly surprised and would definitely recommend the stay.
If you are looking for a place to stay to explore the surrounding areas around Knysna, Peace of Eden is probably one of the most affordable places with friendly staff.
Beautiful and nice getaway, special place in nature.
It's a shame that the owner made us anxious about the wet path to the overnight hut, because we managed it easily but were anxious because his warnings and left early.
Despite a large number of spiders and bugs, our stay was absolutely idyllic, with beautiful bird sounds and an extremely peaceful place to stay, something different from the norm. Magical stay and being up among the trees, with the soft soaking rain was an unforgettable experience. WiFi didn't reach our tent but was a nice detox, we do wish we had one plug point but other than that we cannot complain at all.
The short visit was want we expected. We enjoy the peace the property offered. Thank you.
They can easily place a much clearer sign with their name next to the tarmac. You can't see where the place is at night.
Neat, calm and very friendly.
Location is fantastic and if you want to get away from what is chasing you, this is the place for you.
The ideal getaway where one can relax, calm down and appreciate the beautiful nature around you.
It was just what we needed as a family. A quiet time. Truly a paradise full of surprises!
The Firefly Forest Tent is the best of the lot, with a window to nature at your barbecue area. Every morning I saw the Knysna sneaking in front of my tent looking for food in the trees around me. I fasted for 3 days and spent time with the Lord to pray for family, friends, and the country. I found the Lord here and found rest for my soul. The people were a bit curt and it was inconvenient that I had to put out my fire because the neighbors might complain, but I received it with a good heart and understood although I believe it was unnecessary.
Think if they bring in people who eat meat they will get a bigger market.
Shower and toilet facilities can be paid more attention by the cleaning team. The mat in the shower can also be changed more regularly. The dish cloths in the kitchen was very very dirty at all times. A plug in the tent is a necessity in this day and age, so that cell phones can be charged. Everyone is dependent on a cell phone in this day and age.
True peace of mind found here.
Peace of Eden is located amongst the mystical green valleys of Knysna. Stunning! The service was exceptional - with a heartwarming welcome and heaps of generosity - it felt like home. All the cabins are beautiful, but the forest tents are situated in the heart of the forest- definitely where I will be staying next time. The whole Eco-friendly outlook of Peace of Eden is very refreshing, and definitely what mother earth needs. Thank you for a fantastic memorable stay!
See the stars.
We stayed in one of the forest huts called Firefly, which is the best one to stay in if you value privacy. It is, however, built on a steep incline and the furthest from the 'amenities'. I would like to list a few things that you need to be aware of and then I have some comments. - There is a light in the tent, but NO power point. - You cannot park at the tent, so there is a stiff walk to carry all your luggage. - The tent has it's own fire pit. The owners of the venue were friendly and welcoming, although they do make you feel quite guilty for eating meat! A 'Meat Harms The Planet' pamflet is given to you upon arrival and some vegan recommendations. The setting is fantastic, right in the forest section, but still very accesible from the main road. It is safe, cool and pretty on the farm - a real forest experience in the tented huts and I would recommend staying in one. My gripe is with the 'ameneties'. - They have a total of 3 showers and 2 toilets for ALL the forest huts AND the camping folk, so this means turns had to be taken in the busy season - ONE sink at one of the showers for everyone. - Water used for toilets and shower is BROWN and smells VERY strongly of chlorine, fine for this pupose - But DO NOT drink this water or use it in the kettle! Rain water is supplied as drinking water to be fetched in the kithcen (when you can access the kitchen that is). - The shower, the toilets and bush kitchen were NOT serviced ONCE in the 7 days that we were there that I know of. I did not see a cleaner ONCE. I did see some of the camping guests tidying up the toilets! - The amenneties are VERY rustic, which can be fine, but we found them to be dirty and in a poor state of repair. Doors do not close properly, spider webs all over, wood rotten at the bottom of shower, blocked drains, etc. - NOT very nice and VERY little privacy. - The bush kitchen had 4 plugs of which 2 did not work, so the recommendation by the owners to charge your cellphone in the kitchen is laughable as it WILL be plugged out. - There was 1 FRIDGE / FREEZER for everyone, so this was a disaster. The non-working plugs also meant that the fridge was constantly plugged out. - The kitchen was also occupied 90% of the time by the campers, which meant we could do little to no cooking in it. Very small kitchen facility. We ended up buying a gas bottle cooker and some utensils and cooked at our tent, we charged our phones in our car and in the end we only really made use of the toilets/showers - that is when they were not occupied. I would appeal to the owners to expand and upgrade their ameneties as this is a lovely place, but it tainted what could have been a great holiday for us.
To begin with, the scenery is indescribably beautiful! But, for those of us who wanted to holiday in Knysna, it is quite far from the town (20 km), so we had to drive every day to be in Knysna. The unit we stayed in is definitely only for overnight or maximum two days because it has a small fridge that has no room for our 10 days worth of food. It is made clear on the rules that if we want the place cleaned during our stay, or want clean towels, it will cost us R75 extra. (Take into account that we have already paid R800 per day.) The table/bench combination seat was very mancolic. The grill for braai is so broken that the meat falls through it. The kitchenette is inadequate for self-catering, including no oven. Because it is an eco-place they use river water which is therefore brown water from the taps. The hot water system is gas, dependent on the water pressure. When you take a shower, the hot water turns cold all the time and it's very inconvenient. We were unaware of this when we made the reservation. Also, there is no fan, and some days there were heat wave conditions. I just feel that we booked and paid in full 8 months before the holiday, and that maybe the owners could have just informed us of what that unit entails. Perhaps some of the larger units are better equipped for a 10 day holiday. However, for campers who want to stay in nature in tents, it is ideal. Their rates for that are probably much lower as well. But for R800 per day, what we got is definitely not value for money compared to other self-catering units. We have been using self-catering units for many years, and were therefore able to make an accurate comparison.
It is a beautiful setting and the accommodation was top notch.
Our first tent stay experience. It's something else, just a problem with power points in tent. But otherwise very pleasant, will use it again.
Just not for people who a fiemies factor! Very nice and pristine, but very basic in terms of toilet and shower facilities. Tent was nicely furnished, and kitchen hut has a fridge and kettle and crockery.
Peaceful, nice, quiet and away from the city's noise. Very nice.
No hot water, neither of us could shower. Had to boil water to wash dishes. One small heater for whole house. No oven, just a two plate stove. No place for barbecue, just a fire pit on the lawn. The bedding was thin and torn in places. The pillows were very thin. Listed as accommodation with 2 bathrooms but only one geyser was on. Not value for money at all!
See the stars below.
Will definitely go again!
Peace of Eden is a wonderful place to relax - wonderfully peaceful and quiet. The bathrooms just need a little attention and better braai facilities would be good, but the rest was very good value for money. The staff were also very friendly and very helpful! Two thumbs up!
The farm was very beautiful and the cottage beautiful inside, but the kitchen was incomplete and cooking was a little difficult.
Breathtaking sight, adequate facilities, perfect escape from the city and for any nature lover! We will definitely come again! Just check the weather early.
The mattress and bedding need to be upgraded. The shower has no door or curtain and is too big for the bathroom. The floor was very wet every time and there is no space to put anything down. The fridge's freezer section is very small.
There were communal bathrooms. Had to brush teeth in the shower as there is no sink. Disappointed.
It feels like living on someone's property. Camping on lawn in full sun. The Forest Tents have no view, the zipper did not close and the facilities were very dirty. The beds were indeed comfortable in the Forest Tents. Sunbird's mattresses were terribly thin and the amenities were incomplete. The braai area is a hole in the ground without a grill.
There are definitely better value for money options out there. R550 for such a unit is not worth it. We didn't have a very warm reception either.
There are only 2 toilets and one shower for all the forest tents and campers.
The venue was absolutely beautiful, but the facilities were not up to standard. The communal area was not well equipped and very small.
It was the first time we used LekkeSlaap's booking system. It was very good and we are impressed with your service. However, Peace of Eden's tent accommodation disappointed us greatly. There was a pool of water on the shower floor that did not drain and the lighting was poor. There is no sink by the toilet. No towels were provided. The crockery in the communal kitchen was dirty and cracked.
See the stars below.
Not what we expected.
Basic but comfortable home away from home, rustic accomodation. Lovely setting in very peaceful surrounds. Loved sitting outside on the large deck which is ideal for sundowners or braaing.
