Lovely home away from home. The unit I booked is ideal for a couple or single person. Beautiful ocean view and flamingos walking around the beach. I would recommend this place to anyone.
View from below and above very nice, just maybe try something with the wooden floors in the upper part and if you stay below you hear the sounds on the wooden floors, especially if there are children running upstairs maybe only adults allowed upstairs just a thought I share but very pleasant, beautiful and peaceful place just to go and relax will definitely go again.

The beach side is a bit underwhelming, and the braai is communal, but apart from that the place is very nice, will definitely stay again. Very large, fantastically beautiful view of the sunbag and beach, flamingos and seabirds everywhere. Places are clean, tidy, easy to get to.
Was very nice, just felt the braai area and kitchen could have been a little bit cleaner.
Reception was not good in relation to bedding. Pillow's hem was torn. Inner was too small for duvet cover. Very thin inner for winter. There were no blankets given, as it is winter. Bedside lamps did not have bulbs in them.
There was no secure parking which was a problem for us en route to Namibië. We had to unpack everything on the roof rack. Otherwise, the unit was clean and had a fantastic view over the ocean. Also, luckily we were the only room booked. If I knew this ahead of time, I would have used the braai area.
The hostess was fantastic! We can definitely recommend that the owner renovate and 'maintain' the house a bit.
Beautiful sea view that can be enjoyed at all times seeing that there is a structure that protects you from the wind. The kitchen could do with a good cleaning. The oven was so dirty we couldn't use it at all. There is no secure parking for vehicles. Vehicles sleep outside the yard. Walls are of such a nature that you cannot keep an eye on your vehicle from inside. No guard in sight.
The place is excellent with friendly service. Very neat and clean. Lovely view of the sea. Couldn't have asked for better. Lots of space and everything is furnished with taste. Will definitely not be staying anywhere else in Port Nolloth.

Extra thumbs up to Sara who assisted us nicely and patiently all the time. The lack of gated parking was alarming at first, but luckily it's a relatively quiet, safe neighborhood.
Peaceful Place lives up to its name! It's wonderfully quiet, with the sea on your porch! Absolutely fantastic peaceful atmosphere. The caretaker, Sarah is wonderful, she made our stay excellent!
Except I booked for 8 adults and got 3 good double rooms, but the fourth room was only suitable for children. It was very uncomfortable for the people to sleep on two very small beds and have to share the bathroom with a room next door that has 2 sliding doors between the rooms. So no privacy. Suitable for parents with children, but not adults. I feel they could have all been put in comfortable double rooms as had been booked and which were available on site.
Would like blockout curtain where outdoor light is situated.

I received great service after I booked the wrong dates and they corrected it for me. The view from the house is very beautiful. The interior of the house was disappointing, carpets no longer look good, bedding was very thin (no extra blankets), boiler did not work, doors had difficulty closing.

Very nice view and good location. Unfortunately not set up for loadshedding at all. Also no warning that the taps are empty during the 4 and a half hour load shedding times. Water works with a pump that works with power. No gas stove or gas plate. No rechargeable lights available, making it difficult to stay there with children. Feel they can at least inform you that there are no facilities during loadshedding, we were caught off guard.
Wooden floors bother the people underneath. Bathtub leaking with spout. Sink plug is stuck.

Disappointing experience and we passed on detail. Owner was not willing to refund our money as we could not stay there due to insecurity of premises.
On our arrival after adding another 600 km to our drive, the hostess sent a child to lock us up. Not once have we had anyone ask about us. The residence is in an unsafe area and offers no parking. The condition of the rest of the house is shocking and even a small lawn was not even groomed and mowed. We have shortened our stay for this reason and would greatly appreciate it if the owner could consider accommodating us with a refund. In our opinion the rating should only be a 2 star due to the neglect of the house and unsafe area.

Very comfortable and nice view from upper 3 bedroom unit. Downstairs common area is a bit difficult to use if rooms are fully booked by other guests. Location is remote but that's what we prefer, so exactly what was expected.
We were received very kindly by Sara and she also went out of her way to make our stay pleasant. Peaceful Place is perfectly located by the sea and this is definitely a plus. What is a negative aspect is that we stayed on the ground floor and the upper apartment has a wooden floor. If the guests move on the upper floor it is very disturbing and I would suggest that the owner do something about it.
Had no water the time we were there, no prior communication from the unit that we had to bring water and that we would have no water for the period. Loadshedding is a big problem. The unit could definitely use some attention with maintenance. The location is perfect and the unit has a lot of potential.

Curtain rail in lounge collapsed (clearly an old problem that hasn't been fixed), lukewarm hot water in main bedroom, garden gate cannot lock and nowhere to place a toiletry bag in either bedrooms. No response from anybody re my request for a refund after only spending 1 of 2 paid days.
Beautiful place, full just not safe, car parked outside. Upon receipt, the person who received us said that she hoped the car was safe. The place is clean on the surface but if you live it is not so clean.
Place full of little ants. Not cleaned at all. Towel gray in color, has white paint on it. No broom or mop. Sliding door handle loosens and a few shakes and door is open.
This property is not what you see in the photos. It is dirty, very dirty, very untidy, the showers are filled with mould, the kitchen sink - brown and disgustingly dirty, the fridge was so dirty I could not use it at all. The outside areas are and disgusting dirty. If you open a bathroom or kitchen or main bedroom window all you see is dirt - plastic, old garbage. The fireplace was so dirty we could not use it at all. The upstairs floor is wood and the movements of the guests upstairs can be heard. We had to move to depart the next morning. There are lice in the beds, we were covered in bite marks.
Everything met our needs and exceeded our expectations. It was definitely a good break after Covid came to curtail our lives.
I read some reviews and had some questions. It's all honestly and warmly answered on WhatsApp. The view is incredible. The room is spacious and luxurious. It's a shame that the upper floor has wooden floors as the other guests were walking around until very late. We will definitely go again, but this time we will prefer to rent the whole house. The distance to the beach is only seconds away. Everything was absolutely wonderful. The hostess is determined to do everything possible for you so that you enjoy your time there.

Peaceful Place is a very nice place to stay especially for a family, it is very comfortable and very well located. What was bad for me was the caretaker or person who brought the keys and came to collect them again was completely invisible during our stay, the microwave did not work, and the stove's oven was dirty. Otherwise we had a great stay and made the most of it.

It's safe, it's quiet, it's beautiful.
There was a sewage smell hanging in the air and toilet bowls in both units' water came up when it was flushed - since we checked in. I don't report it. The morning when we checked out, the owners had the drain vacuumed, but I think they should make sure the drain is empty before guests come in.
It was worth the visit and the venue/accommodation made it extra special.

I would recommend Peaceful Place to anyone! It's definitely worth the money, and so is the wonderful view directly on the sea. The place is big and spacious enough for a family, including grandchildren. The rooms, the kitchen, and TV room are perfect. I love Peaceful Place, the name definitely fits the place. You don't need to take any dishes with you, not even a spoon, just enough food and drinking water.
We were welcomed very personally by Sarah and really enjoyed our time at Peaceful Place. Wonderful view of the sea and the White Diamond unit was very spacious and tidy.
Maybe just have a collapsible table to eat from or trays because nowhere to sit and eat except on lap and that is not comfortable. Extra open shelve underneath counter to pack your food away otherwise everything must be packed on shelve where you have to work on and no space then really to work on.
Parking outside on the street is a problem, don't feel so reassured and safe. The unit is very neat and new, but the bed in the main bedroom is bad, toilet wouldn't flush, basic things like mirrors near an electric plug etc are missing.

View is beautiful, it's walking distance from the beach, and very comfortable if you have small children. The apartment itself is not well maintained, kitchen cupboards inside are very dirty, and the drain is blocked every 2-3 days, which gives a very bad smell in the apartment. Mattresses can be replaced, and carpets really need a good wash. Bedding had blood stains on it (both in the master bedroom and living room). They didn't have all the necessities in the kitchen (matches for the gas stove, wine opener, can opener, drying rack, black bags, bes, mop etc.), the laundry outside is with all their rubbish and the drain that collects a block of water at the back door up. It's a really cute place, just needs a little attention and a very good spring clean. We stayed in White Diamond, it has the best barbeque area, just would have liked more privacy.
The plumbing in the unit was shocking! The bath water took 2 hours to drain from the tub, which means two people cannot bath in short succession after one another. The toilet would not stop running and I actually had to try and find the well hidden valve leading to the faucet to turn off the water in order to get some silence.
We were only informed at check-in that braai facilities were only for guests on the 1st floor. Master bedroom on 1st floor, sink's hot and cold water taps reversed. Guests on the 1st floor were all woken up by noise from half past five on Sunday morning. Place needs decent cleaning.
I would not recommend this place at all. Unprofessional staff and not hospitable at all. Had to follow up every now and then to confirm booking (already booked 2 days ahead of time and half way to McDougalls Bay only Sarah confirmed with us). Upon arrival we had to stand and wait before someone received us. They didn't book us the room we booked, we were the only guests for the week. We got there late in the evening due to work and then had to struggle with a small two plate stove that can only hold about one pot. Their cutlery incomplete, there are forks and no knives. Place is not very clean. Unsafe parking (vehicles parked in the street). TV's remote was broken, we had to struggle to death to be able to watch TV. Lights in bathroom are blown. I forgot something and no one bothered to let me know, luckily my husband was nearby to pick it up. The place has so much potential, it's such a beautiful place with the most beautiful view, I would suggest you start with hospitality!
Only problem we experienced was parking and no water from 07h00 to 09h00. The lounge did not have enough seating. Apart from the above the stay was wonderful and I did enjoy every minute of my time. I thank you.

We had a very nice stay. It's our new vacation spot. I would only suggest the beds be replaced. As well as more seating in the living room. Otherwise everything was perfect! The sea view from the room, lounge and braai area is wonderful.

We are locals and have travelled to Port Nolloth multiple times before. Decided on a new guest house this time around and was not disappointed. We were bumped up to a better unit at no additional cost, which made the experience so much more special. The guest house feels quite private, despite being well located. You cannot bet better ocean views and beach access. That is the trump card of Peaceful Place!

A bigger fridge is a must, the fridge is very small. No plastic ware. The unit can also have cleaning equipment such as a broom, mop etc. so one can clean up the place. There is no big bin to throw garbage in. The advertisement has to specify that only a sleeper couch is available and not 2 single beds.

We enjoyed our stay with a stunning view. I myself have a 16 bedroom guest house, and I greatly appreciate it when a guest informs me on what can be improved, so here it is: The "box" deepfreeze does not freeze. Every sound from the guests upstairs are heard, including their footsteps, and this was really annoying, as this kept us out of our sleep.

The only thing is that when you book Peaceful Place you cannot see that there are tree places to choose from. If that can be make more clear, with photos of the different places at Peaceful Place. We loved the upstairs place a lot. Just a recommendation to have mirrors in front of the bathroom sink in main bedroom. And extra blankets for the rooms. There are only the duvet over the beds.
The location is perfect. Just sort out the following and it will be great. Decent mattress, with fitted sheet that doesn't come off. Mirror in room. Closet with hanging space. And repair the lock on the outer door.
The location of the house is beautiful, but there are some things that are not up to standard. Kitchen chairs pull apart. There is nothing to make in coffee. Not everyone drinks instant coffee. No dustbin in one room or bathroom. Carpets were not clean in rooms. We had to wait a long time for the key. There are ways to make it more accessible. The beds have long needed new mattresses.
Peaceful Place is a guest house with great potential. The reception was very good and accommodating. But here are some of our problems. The property is ruined, for example, some of the chairs in the kitchen are broken and the kitchen itself can look better. (The rooms are generally very neat). There were only 3 coffee mugs, but we were 6 people. There was no coffee (instant coffee) available. There are no extra blankets available and it can get cold by the sea. I also feel a little uncomfortable about the parking, it's open and anyone can break into the vehicles. I just want to emphasise again that we were very well received.
Accommodation was okay. Stayed at Pink Diamond. Very nice view. Wood floors on the top floor was very disturbing. The fireplace in the apartment is cute, but also filled the apartment with smoke. Braai area available, but no grill or braai utensils available.

The two ground floor apartments have wooden floors on top. Great noise until late at night. Not well equipped. Lack of crockery, cutlery and general kitchen utensils. Well neat, but definitely wouldn't recommend it.
The venue lends itself to be a, stop thinking about everything, place. There is very little to do and if you want to do nothing then this is a "Peaceful Place".
The top floor have wooden floors and the constant movement made it rather impossible to have a proper night's sleep. Floor have dirty marks on it and there was no broom or mop to clean it. We were in the Pink Diamond and there is absolutely no privacy as the other guest is going past there all the time, so the curtains have to remain closed all time and your view instead of a sea view is the curtains. Bed and the bedding can be replaced as it had it's years old now. The parking is in the street therefore your car is not safe at all. My opinion, I think it was a waste of time and money.

Was really surprised with the friendly hospitality of the hostess that opened for us and welcomed us. Sarah is a true gem. Very pretty and very neat unit. McDougall's Bay is very windy and very cold, but the hotel had delicious breakfast and meals, and the Vespetti restaurant's food is delicious and the staff were very warm and friendly.

Comfortable, not very big, but has everything you need. Beautiful view of the sea. Can I also just mention that Sarah went more than out of her way to make our accommodation pleasant. It's, however, a bit of a disturbance with the wooden floors when someones stays in the unit upstairs.

We had a lovely stay at Peaceful Place. The place was more than what we expected and the owners was really friendly and really made us feel welcome. Thank you for such a warm welcome and my toddler was even invited to play with the owners kids in their play area, which was really nice. We will definitely stay at Peaceful Place again. It is by far the most ideal place to stay as we visited quite a few places in McDougalls Bay. The only thing that would have been nice is if the sliding doors that has a stunning view to the ocean, had tinting so we can open the curtains without other guests looking in from the outside. Other wise 10/10!

My husband and I had a really good time, but when guests moved in above us it was a bit of a problem. It sounds all the time like elephants walking overhead so loud it sounds when the people move around. Otherwise it was very nice and peaceful and relaxing.
Very good location, wonderfully quiet and on the beach. Was clean and service is very good. The only thing that bothers me is that the two floors are only separated by boards. If you sleep downstairs, every footstep sounds very loud even though there are carpets upstairs.

There wasn't any electricity in Port Nolloth, but it was pleasant. Luckily I was prepared for everything. Very nice.
Peaceful Place is as beautiful as it looks on the website and it's wonderful to be able to stay so close to the sea. They moved us to another room which is much bigger without charging us a higher rate, we were just looking forward to the fireplace in the room we originally booked. White Diamond is beautiful and very spacious, I only had to look for basic things like a broom and sponge to wash dishes with and there were only 2 coffee mugs in a place suitable for 6 people, but we had a great stay and will definitely spend the night there again.
Best location yet in McDougalls Bay. The enclosed barbeque area keeps you out of the wind while still feeling like you're barbecuing almost on the beach. The house is very clean and tidy and there is everything you might need - the kitchen is so well equipped.

Had to wait a while on arrival before we were welcomed. Good location, beautiful apartment with breathtaking view. Was lucky to see whales. Think the price per night is a bit high.
Very cute place, nothing more needed if you stay a day or two.
Extremely friendly and helpful staff, who just became friends. Residence lacks a few luxuries such as hairdryer, barbecue tools, mirrors, etc., but does not detract from the lovely, relaxed atmosphere. And of course the view - with nothing between you and the sea. Braai area sheltered with sliding open windows if the wind starts lol. Large kitchen with everything needed, up to a large 6 seater family table. We can highly recommend Peaceful Place

So much potential but there is clearly a lack of maintenance in the unit we stayed in. Two of the three sliding doors facing the sea at the front could not open. Safer parking for cars overnight will also be recommended.
Location was not located and also keeping a dog at the back was sad, dog was starved to play, water bowl leaked and also barked through the night. For animal lovers, it completely spoiled our stay.
We stayed here for 2 nights and the following things bothered us a bit: 1) The master bedroom's sliding door is broken and cannot be opened and there are no other windows in the room for fresh air and especially because the toilet forms part of the room ( only behind a glass screen), this is quite a problem. 2) We only had 1 bath towel between 2 adults in the master bedroom 3) No mirror in the master bedroom which is near a power point. 4) No mirrors in the other two bedrooms. In the kitchen:- 1) there is only a three-plate stove of which only 2 plates were in working order. 2) There are only 4 forks and 4 knives while we were 6 people. 3) 2 small pots and 1 small pan to put food in - completely insufficient if there are 6 people. 4) No bowls that can be used in the microwave oven, 5) No bowls to put salad in, 6) No drying towels. 7) No ironing board, iron or laundry drying rack. 8) Soda glasses and wine glasses were a problem. 9) No broom or brush and shovel to sweep something up with. No secure parking for vehicles. If the owner can pay attention to all of the above, the stay here will be very pleasant.
Quiet place, has a great view, but the layout would work better for one big family vacationing together. The decor is good - however, the bedroom part was a little disappointing for us. The walls look dirty - a new coat of paint or a good cleaning will do wonders. Tint on the sliding door would also be good - you have no privacy when you're lying on the bed and just want to look at the sea - anyone walking past can see in.
The homestead is spacious. Motors can only park outside.
Very nice overall but the place was not clean. Also short attention like e.g. shower head that was completely loose. Bedding needs attention. Also adjusted fees more than advertised.
What you see on website / photos is not what you get. No proper glasses to drink out. Not much privacy. Braai facilities dirty, and place is neglected.
The picture presented on the website is an absolute misrepresentation of what one ultimately received. I feel it is completely overpriced for the quality of accommodation (and conditions) we received. We originally booked the Pink Diamond and were very disappointed in the cleanliness when we arrived. One sliding door's curtain hems were out and the walls were very dirty, on top of that the water pressure was very weak and the geysers are shared with sinks in the other units (according to the caretaker), very coincidentally we had no hot water after the first no shower, so someone must have been running dishes for 10 minutes. The particular unit also has almost no privacy as it is at the entrance to the property, so everyone who stays on the property walks by on their way in and out. The photos on the website are very misleading, they portray the unit as private and secluded which was not the case at all. There is also only one very small lawn right in front of the unit and during our stay there was also a family with 3 kids which drove us crazy seeing them playing and playing right in front of our sliding door - this said the unit again also no privacy and you can't actually leave your door open, the children tried to peek in all the time and violated our privacy, which is a bitter pity because there is such a beautiful view and we had to keep the curtains closed all day . We were looking forward to a quiet vacation where we could travel during the day and read a book and drink coffee at night and watch the sun go down and escape the hustle and bustle of the city, so this was a big deal for us. On day two, people moved into the unit above us and it sounded like someone was going to fall through the roof. Every step someone takes upstairs sounds like a jump since it's plank floors/roofs. It was so bad that it actually woke us up in the middle of the night. On day two we went looking for alternative accommodation and fortunately the guests only stayed two nights and we were able to sleep peacefully again. Photos of the barbecue area are also not on the website. The braai place in the photos is one of the other units. Ours was next to the building, literally just a braai surface in the corridor next to the entrance to the premises. There is also no really safe parking. You just stop in the open field between the guest house and the next property, which is not ideal. We traveled quite a bit during the day between the surrounding villages and had to unpack the car every day because you really only park on the street. We contacted the website after the first day with our complaints and that it was a total and misleading representation of the accommodation. As we traveled 2000 km just to get there and had a very disappointing experience. The caretaker then apparently approached the family to address the children about privacy (seeing that they had tried to physically enter the unit). They also then sorted out the water pressure. We had terrible trouble getting hold of the owner to try to negotiate because we were so unlucky. After a lot of struggling and fighting, they upgraded us to the larger unit on the second floor, 3 nights later (as a consolation prize for refusing to refund us for the remaining nights - on the contrary, we were ready to go home to go as the holiday was already ruined for us) and refund one night's accommodation expenses. The second floor sorted out most of the problems but the unit was also not up to standard and from experience I felt very sorry for the people below us. This was very disappointing. This is not how you want to start your holiday and it really puts a damper on the whole holiday.

Pink Diamond is a beautiful, neat apartment with everything you need to make your stay comfortable. You won't get a better sea view either! Because Mc Dougallsbaai / Port Nolloth is such a small place, unfortunately there is just not much to do. The only real complaint there is is the fact that the owner lived above us and his footsteps on the wooden floor kept you awake a few times.

Owner still working on upgrades to building. Needs some furniture such as bedside tables, occasional tables and seating in bathrooms. Overall, the place has the potential to develop into a 5-star guest house.
Had to share accommodation with resident, no freezer for our food, and would have appreciated en suite rooms.

The owner should have told us beforehand that he was busy with construction work. No safe parking, in the street, not behind fence. Our unit was better equipped than expected and had a see view as requested. Sarah was there to receive us and to say goodbye and she was very helpful with all our questions and requests.

UK visitors with family from Cape Town.Very disappointed in general with White Diamond in Peaceful Place, very dated kitchen with some of the cabinet doors hanging off, very badly stained sinks, dripping taps and a very dirty oven and leaking refrigerator. Very dated bathrooms with mould around the bath and shower areas, rusty shower curtain rail, cracked tiles etc. In general not very well appointed even to the point that the patio door security bolts would not lock due to being out of alignment. The owners said it was a work in progress, as you can imagine, not to happy at all. Plus side, the location of the property and views were superb, it was a shame the accommodation did not match up to the views.
