Lovely place full of beautiful flowers, trees and the farm is well maintained. Petra is so welcoming with friendly animals, if you are the lover of nature and peace I highly recommend Petra's Country Guest House. And I had lovely jog early in the morning around the farm.
This was a business trip and my spouses came along. The facilities are more than adequate, spacious and well equipped. Petra is a friendly and accommodating hostess. The silence is lovely and the distance from town is actually a bonus - no noise!

Real farm homestead where we were warmly received by the staff. Our room was unique and neatly furnished. The farm atmosphere was very welcome after a challenging long drive. My boy really enjoyed the playground and implements. The roaming chickens, lazy ginger cats and the curious callers down the wire were a comfort and delight to him. We will definitely visit again.

Petra is a friendly and helpful hostess. She keeps her place tidy and takes care of each of the beautiful plants in her garden single-handedly. The farm atmosphere is striking but not overwhelming. The housing unit could probably get a little more finishing but then it is no longer the kind of farm that Petra has in mind. We greatly appreciate that our children and grandchildren were able to come and visit us that one day. We weren't sure if we would be able to keep the house with the two little ones - 4 year old boy and 2 year old girl. But when they discovered the playground, there wasn't a moment of boredom. We literally spent the whole day with them there and when they had to go home it was pretty much a dramatic goodbye. They enjoyed it tremendously. We would recommend Petra's Country Guest House anytime for adults who just want to unwind in the open of nature but also for families with children. I have to say the guided tour to the museum was worth it. It's something Petra's can feel proud of because they preserve something of the area's history.
Petra is a delightful artful hostess and Louie is rich in knowledge of the wars in the area. Lovely place to spend the night.

It's a lovely farm atmosphere. The roads to it are just in bad condition but that is not the owner's fault.
They lock the place and guys can't get in, so must have made another plan in the evening.

Unfortunately we only spent the night here but felt very welcome. The unit is well equipped and clean. The farm and surroundings are beautiful and it was so cute that farm animals told us to come tomorrow on the stoep. Be aware of potholes and stop/drive delays. Fortunately the road is being repaired and we will definitely be staying there.
The only negative was the unit had a pet smell about it. After investigating I found the scatter cushions on lounge chairs the culprits. Clearly the cats like that spot in the sun.
The peacocks were sometimes disturbing, but still part of the farm atmosphere.
Rooms are neat and very well equipped with everything one would need. Chickens, ducks, cats and peacocks roaming freely around the yard contribute to the tranquillity and create that farm atmosphere. There are also cattle and donkeys in a camp. Large garden with many trees that are well looked after.
We were pleasantly surprised to see the old homestead and the guest rooms. The animals and nature are beautiful. Nice to walk around the farm and enjoy nature. Very creative with the plants in 3 foot pots and all other ways.

The accommodation was interesting in the old house with the old furniture and old farm tools on the spacious verandas. The bed we slept on should rather be replaced. We had to look for the dining room where we had a nice breakfast.

We had a wonderful stay, nice and quiet on the farm. The children enjoyed the interaction with the cats, horses and donkeys. Great getaway! Just know the roosters will wake you up early!

Rooms impractical and overfurnished. No constant color schemes, form no whole. All things considered, the stay was pleasant, comfortable and friendly.
The distance to the famous spots like Isandwana and Rorke's Drift, as well as Bloodriver is slightly farther than Dundee but I prefer the cleaner Vryheid town.
Wonderful farm style accommodation with magnificent views across the valley. Petra and family were incredibly hospitable and brought us fresh farm milk, let us play with the kittens and puppies and arranged for us to have a meal brought after a long drive. Thank you for having us.

The people were really very hospitable, we felt very welcome. Place is very clean and well located for the purpose of the visit. We really like the idea that it's on a farm, which makes it peaceful and you don't feel cooped up. The braai area was also well appointed. Petra's offers beautiful accommodation on the farm. You wake up with donkeys, roosters crowing, geese screaming for food and cats happily roaming the yard. It's great accommodation for a city kid.

We were there for the weekend with family. Petra is very helpful and busy making it to everyone's liking. The room was neat and clean. Even the shower, because that is the one place where you can see whether or not they really clean the unit. Our children enjoyed it a lot with all the animals on the premises and they loved climbing the old trees. The only negative point is that the other guests have no respect for other people's rest and they made a lot of nois. Because the rooms are close together you can hear every loud noise and loud laughter in the evenings.

The cost does not justify the service provided. No breakfast. No facility to serve evening meal. The owner treats guests as if they are a burden to her - strict rules about when guests should not bother her. Hygiene is scandalous. I myself live on a farm, but at the guest house visitors have to be careful all the time not to step in chicken droppings. The chickens are everywhere and miss everywhere.
Exactly what we needed after a day on the road. Thank you Petra's for your hospitality. Very neat and clean, would recommend to anyone.

We just want to say a big thank you to Petra's Country Guest House for the wonderful stay and hospitality. We had the most delicious dinner, as well as breakfast. The room was nice clean and tidy, with big mugs for coffee. The farm animals filled the whole yard. The uncle also shared his knowledge of cattle with us. If we go to the sea through Vryheid again, we will definitely stay there again. Value for money.

Sorry that we 3 adults have to spend the night in a veranda room. 4 single beds in a small space crowded together without privacy. My bed had a weak, thin spongy mattress on it. No sink faucet. A lot of furniture in a small space. Privacy is obstructed with windows from inside that can open onto the porch room. Sorry but this was my worst accommodation.

The guest house is located outside the town on a beautiful farm. We really felt very much at home. The reason why I think that it is different from other houses is precisely the farm atmosphere. Our sleeping place was comfortable and very tidy and the view was fresh and the nature was beautiful. Children also see a bit of life on the farm.
