There was power in the residence even though there was loadshedding. That's a big bonus. Parking somewhat of a problem if you have guests.

We rented both the Cottage and the Den for 3 nights. My three adult children shared the cottage and my wife and I the Den. The rooms are very basic, but adequate for a short visit. There are a lot of "nooks and crannies" which my wife and daughters liked, but it's not really my taste now. The Den is at the back of the yard. The extension was clearly done on a small budget and therefore the separation with the house is not always so clear. For example, there is a window with an exterior blind that is in the area in front of the shower and the shower has a window into the house, but the glass has been replaced with a mirror. It didn't bother us, but I can imagine that some people might not feel that comfortable with it. The shower has strong and hot water and it's exceptionally spacious - all I'm really looking for. In the room, the roof is very low on one side and therefore slightly uncomfortable for a tall person. There is a fridge, microwave and sink with cutlery, more than sufficient for a short stay. Parking was not a problem for us, as we were there with one vehicle and the owners' vehicle was not on the premises on nights 2 and 3, but if there were three vehicles on the lot it would have been a bit of a joke. Visitors should be aware of the following: 1. The path to the Den is inconvenient. There is a sawn tree which makes it difficult especially for someone like me who has knee problems. 2. In the units there is no place to eat inside, and the Den does not have proper seating outside. Luckily we had great weather and the use of the Cottage's deck. 3. The light switch in the cottage is upstairs, without an option to turn it off downstairs. When we left in the early hours of the morning, we just had to keep the light on. 4. The storage and hanging space in the cottage, given that up to four people can stay, is completely inadequate. At least there was a place to hang out in the Den. 5. The units are on a second erf in a panstile, and therefore somewhat awkward to get in and out of. On a positive note: 1. Ilse and Arrie are very nice and helpful. They made us feel welcome and comfortable, and immediately addressed the one or two small problems that were there. 2. There is a shopping center just down the street, easy to just walk (5 minutes). 3. The area is very peaceful and the garden makes you forget that you are actually in a very small space. 4. The accommodation is excellent value for money. If you are looking for 5-star accommodation then this is not for you, but you will have to pay 3 times as much too! If we have the need to stay in the area again for a day or three, I will definitely consider the accommodation again.

Ilse and Attie are great hosts. They made me feel right at home. They swapped the small fridge for a larger one and Ilse sent me a Whatsapp of the loadshedding schedule every day. They have a solar geyser and an inverter, so most of the time there was power. Great aforethought! Thank you!

Difficult entry and exit, very limited space. Gate must be opened by yourself, impractical for older people. Dangerous wall plug against stairs. 1 Chair for 4 guests. 1 Broken office chair by small table in upper room. No place where you can sit and eat together indoors. The lower room's light must be switched on at the top of the stairs so when the light is off you have to go down the stairs in the dark. No toaster as confirmed by owner, kettle was fitted black. Most of the closets are locked. Only a small rail to hang clothes. Room is not completely sealed off from rest of the house, one does not feel private. Chairs and beds in lower room are old and not up to standard. We were very disappointed.

Very close to Netcare Pretoria East Hospital. Very easy to get out of there. Room is big. Enjoyed the shower under a translucent roof. Just a pity it was cloudy then. Everything needed was there. Ilse and her husband made me feel at home. Generator switched on when it was load shedding. Will definitely stay there again.

I attended a reading course for 3 days in Moreleta Park. Picasso was very conveniently located within 1.1 km and so I reached my venue within a few minutes every morning. The apartment was easy to reach (I went by plane and rented a car). It is very safe and the welcome by Ilse and her husband was wonderful! They are lovely people and treated me like real family. I would love to go back there any time and can also recommend it with the utmost confidence to anyone looking for a rest place/accommodation in Pretoria. Thanks for 3 days that should have been 3 weeks!

The accommodation is in a back yard. The whole feeling you get when you enter the premises is one of disappointment. There are cars parked everywhere and it feels like you're sharing the property with the occupants of the home. The property is not big, so the cars occupy a lot of space. A walkway leads around the house to the room and looks untidy and not maintained. The furniture in the room are old and make the place look untidy. Merely an unkempt attachment to the main house.
