We enjoyed our stay.
The peaceful environment and spacious room with the double bed and 2 single beds was very comfortable. If I could just make a suggestion: We did the Loskopdam marathon this weekend and the 1 plate stove and no toaster was quite a disappointment. We got up for 3 hours on Saturday morning to make breakfast before we went for a run, so maybe this is something the management should think about for the future. Perhaps a couch in the great room can also serve as a plus point. Maybe maybe a hanging place for the 4 towels in the unit. We just hung it over the hanging cupboard doors. Unfortunately we didn't have time to do the horse riding, four wheel drive or the game drive, but for sure next time. The restaurant's food was delicious on Friday evening and prices very reasonable.
It was an amazing weekend. The staff were helpful. The places were neat. Would definitely recommend to anyone who just wants to get away for a weekend or for a holiday.

Pienaardam is a nice getaway, the resort is quiet and peaceful as long as you stay away from the day visitor area. The showers need some upgrading, but are clean and tidy.
Beautiful place, nice wildlife watching and canoeing on the dam. Day visitors were a bit overwhelming but all the staff were very friendly.
We were initially booked in an "L" type but ended up in an "M" type chalet. Why I don't know. However, the "M" type was not suitable for a self-catering unit. We couldn't make anything to eat as there was no 2 plate oven, only a small fridge and a microwave oven. We were therefore forced to eat at the restaurant but Julie was very helpful and her service excellent. We will visit Pienaardam again when the weather is better and there is at least a 2 plate stove. We were asked to bring swimming towels only. There is also no shop on the premises but only a small shop which cannot provide for everyday needs.
Overnight only. Clean ablutions.
No parking and also pavement, very dirty outside with rooms looking like an old hostel for farmworkers. We didn't like the brown bedding and toilet was also leaking water. Me and my family we travel every season but never came across a place like that one. Advice: build a better place for visitors to sleep not the hostel we slept in.
No weekly activities available.
We enjoyed our stay except for the braaier, which is to low for a big man to braai. The grill is mounted to the wall so one cannot control the fire.
A very friendly team awaited us. Although our paid reservation did not show on their system, it was resolved in a few minutes. Because of Covid regulations, we had to have take aways for dinner, but what a superb dinner we had! The steaks were yummy-good! Compliments to the chef, please. We shall come again.
Children really enjoyed the activities. It's also good value for money.
The campers next to our chalet played loud music until 04:30. The chalet was musty and the air freshener boxes packed all over the cupboards couldn't hide the smell.
There are more than enough activities to keep you and your family busy all day every day.
It would be nice if other residents could just respect each other.
Activities were fine.
The shower didn't work all weekend and the staff replaced it on Saturday morning and the unit we lived in was old and definitely not worth the price. On Sunday morning, the kitchen was under water also due to a leak at the sink part of the unit. We were just men but with a family it would not have been acceptable. We also wanted to visit the ladies bar and restaurant on the Friday when we arrived but there were very drunk people living there, I suspect they were contractors and that's why we went to eat in town instead to try to avoid conflict.
I'm a camper, not a campground I can recommend. A busy site with many day visitors, which is just too much for me. I prefer a quiet place without an overflow of day visitors.
Day visitors take over the fishing area/resort, a worker from the resort is rowing through fishing lines - no excuses will not recommend the resort - not value for money. No social distancing is enforced.
We had a lovely stay. The waterfront units do not have Mnet as it is marketed, only SABC channels.
Children really enjoyed the outdoor activities. They could cycle safely throughout the resort. Our room and bedding were very neat and clean. Sorry there is no heated pool.
Loud music should be completely banned because any person who goes on holiday wants peace and quiet.
Good family getaway. We especially enjoyed the lions and game. Friendly and very helpful people. They know everything around them and know what has been requested.
I feel the units could do with a good spring clean during the quiet period in winter. Although the unit smelled fresh when we walked in, one doesn't get a good, clean feeling on arrival. The walls are dusty, the carpet is old and I felt I had to wash the dishes before using them even though they looked clean. The toilet had been used ages ago and never flushed. They cater well for activities aimed at younger children.
Lots to do. It was just too short to take it all in. Would definitely want to camp there again.
What you see on the website is not at all what you get when you get there. Very disappointed.
