It is a good place to relax and the garden is perfect, employees are good people and they treated us with respect. The breakfast was perfect. I saw a green mamba (a snake) when I was about to open the entrance gate (main gate) please make sure that you chase them away because it's a dangerous snake.
I found the steps a little too steep but had a very good stay. Very well situated next to M13 and easy drive to Pinetown and surrounding areas.
They need to modernize the place somewhat and the cleaning staff need to ensure that they do not leave odours in the room after cleaning. The smell of perspiration was really pungent and they need to consider fresh fruit salad as part of the breakfast menu as well as fruit juice and not Oros. The pool is a pre-requisite in Durban's climate and the above picture is not a true reflection. The water has been removed and the chairs you see in the picture have been placed inside the pool. What a waste of what could have been a swimming pool. I was grateful for the air conditioner and the clean bedding. I enjoyed having the small kitchenette as well. The TV is so small that it is uncomfortable to watch based on it's placement.
Very steep, uneven steps to dining hall. Sliding door to toilet broken. Curtains don't obscure bathroom window. No milk in fridge for coffee on the first day.
Upon our arrival we had to get out of our vehicle to get to the gate bell. There are coffee and tea facilities as mentioned in the room, but no milk. Milk was brought just enough for two cups. There was no bath plug for the bath when we wanted to bathe and reception was already closed when I wanted to inquire.
Unfortunately, Lala Land leaves a lot to be desired. The place is very old, and no upgrade has been done there in the last 40 years. The breeding grooves in the shower are dirty. The place is just "tatty". The pool has probably been empty for years. For such a place you should not charge more than R250.00 pp. I admit the bedding was clean. The breakfast so-so. I can't believe that LekkeSlaap has such a place on their books. Surely it damages your name, I suggest you please go and see for yourself.
