We were invited to experience the real farm life, had sundowners with fantastic Kalahari views, enjoyed the company of their cute dogs and best of all - the food was just so amazing! Christel even made sure to take care of food intolerances. They also gave us great tips for the rest of our trip. We would love to come back anytime and felt as if we have left as friends, not guests.
I had mistakenly understood Plaas Kowes to be a self-catering place - which it is not. They accommodated us by providing us with utensils for our barbecue. They even offered their personal indoor grill to use, but we grilled outside thanks to our own mini-Weber. And the next morning we were treated to a delicious farm breakfast. Great!
From the first minute we felt as if we were visiting family on the farm. We were kindly welcomed with nice cold juice. Pieter and Christel are very good hosts. The air conditioning in all the rooms was heavenly, the facilities top class and the beautiful sunrise a bonus. The dinner (booked extra) was gemsbok fillet with mashed potatoes and butternut squash. It was like eating at a five-star hotel, only better, because the portions were ample. The breakfast was also very nice. I would recommend the accommodation to anyone any day. It's a very good overnight stop, but will also work for a weekend getaway.
The guest farm is conveniently located for those on their way to the Kagalagadi, approximately 150 km from the Mata Mata Gate. We were received with true peasant hospitality and kindness. The food is something to experience! The accommodation is tidy and everything a traveler could wish for. It is very interesting to experience such active farming on the Kalk on the banks of the dry Auob river. In addition, the farm has a rich history, with the battle of Kowes that took place there in 1905 between the German Schutztroupe and the Namas. The icing on the cake was when on the evening of our stay, after years of drought, it rained 88 mm on the farm. We were so happy and grateful with everyone there - and left as friends the next day.
We really enjoyed our stay with Pieter and Christel. Their hospitality was genuine. We could also take unlimited walks on the farm and enjoy nature. Thank you very much for the nice morning coffee and breakfast. Best shower we experienced during 2 weeks and various places of stay in Namibia.
Gochas +-1.5 hours from Mata-Mata dirt road. Accommodation is all that is required. Hospitable farm people to receive you. We had a great time with them. Enjoy a delicious kudu steak dinner.

Delicious. There are few places where you will be carried on the hands like this. Top quality accommodation, delicious dishes that will impress connoisseurs and the farm environment was very nice for the children.
Our host and hostess went out of their way to make us feel at home and pamper us. The dinner, with a delicious rack of lamb as main course, was 6-star quality. The night drive over the dunes to look for jackals was an added bonus. We hope to spend the night there again.
