We had a great time at Anna's in Appelhuis. The cottage is well equipped. The bedding and duvets are good quality, nice and thick and warm. The indoor fireplace and underfloor heating in the living area certainly helped against the winter cold. The house is not far from town, and we could drive in different directions every day. Guests should only note that the 2nd (smaller) double bedroom is off the main house with its en-suite shower and toilet. The bathroom of the main bedroom inside has a shower and a bath. Plenty of wood is provided, and the outside braai is close to the kitchen, with a lounge area weather permitting. Also note that cell phone signal between the mountains is very limited, for those who may need to run errands. Thank you Anna, we had a great time and rested!

Fantastic place with the most beautiful view and tranquility. The most beautiful farm. You can completely switch off there. Only thing I would recommend is a signal booster as there is no cell phone reception and we couldn't use our decoder there either. But it's an incredible place. There are donkeys and meerkats and the loveliest 2 farm dogs. Would really recommend it.

We had a wonderful 3-day break at the scenic Appelhuis on Plaas Wegbreek. We didn't see anyone at the house for the entire time - only a few workers were spotted in the distance, working on the fruit farm. The old house was suitably rustic but well-equipped. For anyone hoping to be waited on and have someone cleaning up behind you, this is perhaps not the place for you - but we really enjoyed the solitude. It is the perfect base for exploring Route 62. We went east to Caltizdorp one day and west to Robertson on another. We may well be back soon!

We stayed in the Apple House which is surrounded by peach, lemon and plum orchards. The house was well equipped and had everything to make your stay very pleasant. The living area consisted of an open plan area, with a kitchen, equipped with a fridge, stove and microwave oven. Plates, cutlery, glasses, bowls and pots were provided, as well as a small gas bottle with a kettle for loadshedding. There was dish soap provided for the dishes at the sink. The dining area had a round table with chairs where one could eat comfortably. There was a couch you could sit on to watch TV. The TV has standard channels as well as the DStv has limited channels. The fireplace has 2 easy chairs and it was so nice in the cold weather to sit in front of the fireplace. The bonus was the underfloor heating in the living area, it made the room wonderfully warm and was definitely a nice treat. There were also 2 single beds in the lounge area with a toilet. The main bedroom had a double bed with a feather duvet and white linen as well as a three-quarter bed, an en suite bathroom with a shower, bath, sink and a toilet. Hand soap and hand cream were provided. The hot water was soon blazing hot and was nice to shower. Only problem was the high stairs at the shower, it was difficult to get in and out of the shower. The description of the accommodation is a bit confusing as there is a separate outside area with a double bed and a shower, this area sleeps 2 people but is outside on the verandah so if you have children that should sleep, they will sleep totally alone outside away from you, there are 5 people sleeping inside the house making a total of 7 people. There was a large veranda and you have the most beautiful view of the Langeberg and fruit orchards. The braai area had a large table where you could sit comfortably, braai wood was provided at R30 a bag, as well as a grill and tongs to make your braai comfortable. Solar lights worked well when it got dark. Better communication between me and the hostess would have been nice, but I understand they were away on vacation themselves with limited cell phone reception. Another drawback or problem was there was very little if any cell phone reception. In case of emergency no one can contact you, maybe the owner can put a reinforcement just that there is cell phone reception, it is not necessary for WiFi, we all have data. Emergency lights and candles would also be appreciated, during loadshedding, luckily we came prepared with enough candles and emergency lights. We really enjoyed our stay and can recommend the Appelhuis for a very pleasant and comfortable stay, as well as value for money.

View over extensive fruit orchards on the lovely fruit farm. The cottage is small and somewhat cramped, but with such an idyllic setting it doesn't matter. Barrydale about 7 km from the accommodation. Solar panels keep the lights on and provide hot water. Nice two plate gas stove. However, hot water pressure is weak. On point communication with owners via Whatsapp. I unloaded deliciously. Put on your walking shoes and explore the orchards and hiking trails. Breathe in the fresh air, barbecue on the porch of the cottage and gaze at the stars.

The farm is wonderful. It is very quiet and peaceful and close to town. The Appelhuis is beautiful and the interior is very tastefully decorated. We didn't see the hostess at all and she seems to be a person of few words. The microwave oven and the TV/DVD player need a service, the faucet in the master bedroom bathroom is loose. The underfloor heating is great but only in the living room. The fireplace is great but all the wood available was wet. There is no information in the house about activities in the area. When I asked about this a link was sent to me. During the first night the water ran out and then I was told to go press a button outside and then turn off again after an hour. It must have been the water pump, I assume. There wasn't even salt in the kitchen. There is an outside room that can also be used but it was very cold and I wasn't sure if it had been cleaned as there was still a towel in the laundry basket. We're probably just spoiled by all the other places we've visited that were hospitable and maybe just might send us a message during the weekend to ask if we're still okay and if we might need anything especially during phase 6 loadshedding. There is no WiFi.

The cottage is well equipped and you won't get cold - nice underfloor heating, plus a fireplace, plus electric blanket make the cold go away. Yvonne provided enough wood for the first night's braai and we had a nice time on the stoep. The duvet on the double bed is a bit small, but luckily we were able to use two single duvets from the spare beds.

The place is located on the dam and has everything you need. However, there was no mention that the bathroom was out on the porch. Although it is against the house, you must go outside. The porch is not waterproof and it rained all night. The hostess informed us about it after we had already paid.

Withuis is a beautifully restored and characterful cottage set amongst fruit orchards with sweeping mountain views. Braaing and starwatching on the deck, as well as a long circular walk to the big dam, were highlights.

I recommend Plaas Wegbreek for the following reasons: everything works in the house, it is quiet and peaceful, it is close to Barrydale but still completely quiet and no disturbing noises or unnecessary light. The town is 7 km away with a good road. The surroundings are beautiful and calming. I definitely recommend.

The barbecue on the deck makes good use of the view, but we didn't have the courage to use it as it is an open fire barbecue right next to the stone fruit orchards. This is our second visit to the farm and to the White House, a perfect little house with luxury bedding, kitchen facilities etc. Two places to visit depending on the sun/wind - in front and behind the house - both with beautiful views and the whole farm and surroundings to discover for me and my dog. We were also able to enjoy eating from the fruit orchards (our hostess said we could eat as much as we could), with pear, peach and plum orchards as far as the eye could see.
