Namaqualand friendliness that cannot be matched. Delicious plate of food after a long day on the road. The farmhouse is cozy and we will go back again to explore the area again. Thank you Lizelle for all the recommendations and a lovely visit.

Very well equipped place to stay, spotless and tidy with a fine hand of finishing visible everywhere. Products available to buy made it extra special and the Karoo hospitality will surely make us go back again!
Dawie and Lizelle are excellent hosts. The entire house is lovely decorated. The kitchen and all rooms are clean. It's a perfect place to relax and also for an overnight stay between Stringbok and Loeriesfontein on the R355.
We stayed for just one night, would have liked to stay longer to see more of the farm.
Flatbacks are just right to get away from the city's "business". Our hostess, Lizelle, made sure we had everything we needed. The facility was clean and tidy and the amenities perfect. Oh, and Lizelle makes a delicious breakfast. She makes a boss pie.
It's a nice farm atmosphere and the silence is smooth. The starry splendor is fantastic in the evening when the sky is cloudless and the view from the kitchen is also beautiful to appreciate the sunrise. Had a great barbecue and the fact that there are quite a few products (meat, jam, honesty bar, scarves etc. etc.) makes it easy for the guy who forgot something. Heart people who own the place.
Warm welcome by helpful host and hostess. Stylish, clean, comfortable, homely, spacious. Good quality bedding and towels. Pure pleasure to stay there, I would give 10 stars if I could!

Just one of the nicest overnight stays we have had. A working Namaqualand/Karoo farm that is clearly tended to very well. The guest house is spacious and clean and the lamb supplied on request was fantastic. Hospitality is second to none.

Platbakkies is ideally located for anyone who wants to get to know Namaqualand better, regardless of whether it is for flowers, birds, field, seasonal extremes or the sky. The hostess and host are extremely friendly and helpful with a quiet dignity that suits the people of the area.
Platbakkies Farm Retreat is located between the Bushmanland and Namaqualand, about 112 km outside Springbok. Beautiful mountains where one can walk early in the morning and get fresh and clean oxygen on the brain. The accommodation is great, because it's a nice old farmhouse that has been very neatly restored and you just feel like you're coming home. There is such a wide variety of plants and flowers that this world has to offer if you start to look a little closer and discover the hundreds of smaller plants. Beautiful and interesting bird life. You have your own farmhouse and stoepie with braai place. You feel like you are at home and the place to sleep is really neat, clean and warm. The farm animals and a few horses make you feel even more free. Sunrises and sunsets are probably some of the most beautiful faces that the Heavenly Father paints. The people's kindness, hospitality and warmth make you feel welcome and you can really relax, unwind and just be here. I recommend Platbakkies Farm Retreat to anyone, young or old, if you want the quiet and find yourself again.
