I would definitely recommend the Berghut. It is spacious and comfortably furnished, very friendly service! Just a pity the pool is not heated.
If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, Plekkie in the sun is the place to be. We will go back to Plekkie in the sun anytime. The tranquility rests your soul. It's safe and it's worth every penny.
It was awesome, the silence and beautiful view was just what we needed as a family, gives you a chance to just talk and laugh together again, host was super friendly, would love to go back to the pool in the summer too to use because it's so beautiful, the house has everything you need and more.
We thoroughly enjoyed the cheetah experience. There were other animals as well as cheetahs, so it was very interesting. The views and the sunsets were so beautiful. I think I would prefer to go in summer so you can swim, but we were cosy with the fire in the lounge and the warm heaters in the bedroom.

The name describes the place perfectly in 4 words - it's a place in the sun. Would happily recommend it to anyone who likes the bushveld, the view is beautiful. The unit is furnished with everything you need and more, and is incredibly tidy. One of our best weekends away so far.

It was very nice and quiet. Perfect location for quietness and rest. Just the splash pool was not that clean, had algae on the bottom and sides. Otherwise everything was fine.
If you just want silence and rest, then the place is for you. There is very little to do in the area, so if you are adventurous, I would rather recommend booking into a lodge where you can go hiking and exploring, or cycling etc.

However, the place is s. It was an Awesome place to stay. However, the host, Dhivaashni, was not very welcoming as a host. Firstly we had no DStv remote. The Wi-Fi did not even connect. The bedding one can see hasn't been changed. Our reference number was not picked up by Plekkie in die Son. And without hesitation, Dhivaashni messaged us and told us to vacate immediately, instead of calling us and explaining that we gonna try and sort it out even after we sent POP to you and Plekkie in die Son. With this host, it was all about money and she had a terribly rude attitude. I have travelled extensively and I have never come across anything like this in my life. It is new owners, so maybe they have a lot to learn about customer service and guest relations. There was no cleaning service either. They don't send an inventory list but demand an R500 breakage deposit. My stay was not very pleasant. The good reviews were obviously for the previous owner. However, I was deeply disappointed by the way we were treated.

Plekkie in die Son is the perfect "quick getaway location". Close to other resorts to visit for the day. We practically farmed on the deck area. Large, neat rooms with all amenities. With the inverter, we didn't even know load shedding existed. We didn't feel unsafe for a moment. Bathrooms are large and tidy. Enough storage space and other facilities for a longer "stay". We can confidently recommend the Plekkie, we had a great time, it's dead quiet with the most beautiful view from the veranda as well as from both rooms. In addition, as a bonus, there are a few goats that come to eat close to the house. There is a built-in braai, a gas braai and a lovely fireplace. The patio overlooks a sparkling swimming pool which is sure to be lovely in the summer months and there are even mist sprinklers for the heat. There is also air conditioning and as a bonus the lights, TV and WiFi are on an inverter with its own batteries. We were able to watch the Currie Cup final without any interruption. The one room's mattress that is a bit worn out and one realizes that the owner will not be aware of it if one does not mention it. When we mentioned it, Adele immediately drove off and bought a brand new queen size bed. It's 5-star service, we'll definitely come again!

Plekkie in the sun is a wonderful getaway place with everything you need! The inverter helped so much during loadshedding stage 6 to power the lights and TV. The view is breathtaking and the private pool an absolute feast!

Very nicely laid out with a beautiful view from the bed and the veranda. It was nice that we basically didn't use the whole place because the braai and pool are right in front of the master bedroom.
We enjoyed chilling in the sun in spite of the winter chill. The patio area is really lovely. We spent most of our time inside as it was the coldest week, however, the fireplace warmed the area. The beds were cosy.

The inventor makes you not feel loadshedding. But I have to talk about the beautiful swimming pool, my word but the coldness of the water, ai khona. We even went hiking at the back where there is wildlife at our own risk and was quite a beautiful experience.
Would have liked the hostess to have met us and told us more about the place. Although well equipped, some of the equipment needs to be refurbished and replaced. Dishwasher did not work. No soap for dishwasher. The gas grill must be properly cleaned and serviced. Burners not working properly. Cutlery, especially knives must be replaced.
Kindy advise them to change their beds, both beds were uncomfortable to sleep on.

Pictures do not do justice to that place. It is amazing, tranquil. The view is to die for and the service is on point. It is well equipped with all the little stuff you need. Smart TV, Netflix, DStv etc. It even has an inverter for those loadshedding days and nights. It's heaven for birdwatchers too. Just bring your insect repellent for those evenings when you want to star gaze. I absolutely love it. And I will be back.

It's rare that you find a place, that the photos don't really show, how beautiful a place is. The place is really so stunning, clean and so peaceful! The owners of the place are friendly and go out of their way for you! Have so far recommended the place to everyone we know and we will definitely go there again!

5 star, beautiful, super friendly, us for the soul. A piece of heaven. Even Eskom wasn't a problem with fantastic reception on both DStv and Netflix. The wood burning stove and air conditioning ensured that no blanket was needed. The weather was fantastic - beautiful place.

Beautiful place and looks almost more beautiful than in the beautiful photos. The peaceful environment allows one to rest properly. Everything is available in the house that one could need. Used the braai area a lot and it was just a pleasure. The WiFi was excellent and nice to be able to listen to music on the TV while hanging out on the stoep. Will book here again for sure. Only complaint is the plastic wine and drinking glasses which were disappointing and out of place in this beautiful place.

Plekkie in the sun is only 7 km away from Bela-Bela if there is a quick need to be purchased from the store. There are also different things to do a few kilometers away such as the "Cheetah Experience" which is only just under 5 km away. With the view from the veranda and the beautiful blue swimming pool, you can't help but want to put on your bathing suit and dive in, even if it's possible in the coldest weather. Definitely a recommendation for anyone looking for tranquility.
Well beyond my expectations, special place.
It was quiet and relaxed. Please consider installing solar system for loadshedding purposes. The UPS lasts an hour before it dies and the place is too dark considering that it's in the bushes. Consider LED lights in the interim. When UPS died, there were no lights provided. Luckily we brought our own. Think about sharing a loadshedding schedule with the guests. When guests check in, please welcome them and show them the house. Please change the bed in the main bedroom, it was super uncomfortable. The views are spectacular and the place is not far from the town. The house is spacious and is stocked up with necessities.
The pictures on the website do not lie. We were in awe at how breathtakingly beautiful the views are - it was even better in reality. The property is well maintained, clean and tidy. We also enjoyed the trail walk which we were able to do on the property. We would love to return in summer so that we can experience the pool to the fullest. Quiet, calm just the perfect getaway for 2 days, beautiful place with everything a family needs and the view is breathtaking. If you like woodland and want to relax a bit, this is definitely the place for you. Will definitely visit again.
The place was well equipped with the necessary cutlery and necessities. Unfortunately with it being South Africa, we were a bit worried about safety as only 1 out of 3 floodlights worked outside and the only one that worked also went off in the middle of the night, and with no security gates in front of doors, especially as you can see clear marks of where sliding doors have been broken into before, we were scared every night. The place is nicely laid out, but safety might be a bit more of a concern, and dogs barking all the time take away a bit of the bushland bliss.
Everything was fine besides the bed, it was uncomfortable and so tiny for two adults.

The guest house is a 2 bedroom with Wi-Fi and all amenities. It is private so you don't stay with other people and the pool is also private. The view is amazing. I enjoyed sitting on the deck at night listening to birds etc. The hosts are super friendly and hands on. I definitely recommend it and I know I will be back. I left feeling refreshed.

The best experience was the beautiful sunrise that I could see rising on the porch with a nice cup of coffee, and the stargazing on the seam of my back. Photos are a little older and look MUCH nicer than in the photos. Nice and tidy, beautiful, clean, spacious place. Unbelievably beautiful view with nature all around you. With a curious ostrich for a neighbor in the camp next to the house and now and then Njalas and Rooibok who come to eat and drink. Cottage is away from other houses and private, you only see nature around you, so a great place to get away from all the hustle and bustle. Nice place with children also in the summer, so everyone can enjoy swimming and hang out around the pool on the deck all day long. Everything you need is there. Gas grill and regular wood grill outside on the deck and a fireplace inside the house. Would definitely recommend the place and come again.
We rested wonderfully and enjoyed the day and night scenes tremendously. Just to get away from it all, this is the perfect place.
You have to be there to appreciate it! Upon arrival you greeted by a very friendly owner. The Lodge is perfectly located with an outlook above the tree tops. Secluded and tranquil. The Cottage itself is very homely and fully kitted with absolutely anything you might need. You will not be let down by this magnificent place.

My answer above would be yes and no. The place is beautifully situated and looks over the plains. It's neat and well equipped. Didn't feel very comfortable when I noticed there was a security camera showing what on the pool. Thought of going again in the summer but not feeling relaxed about it. Then you have to bring your own toilet paper as well, because they only provide the first ones.
It was a lovely weekend away from the city life. I was not impressed with the state of the bedding in the main room. It was not as clean as what I would have liked.

Bedroom TV did not work during the whole stay. Wifi was fixed just after we booked in, was very inconvenient. Cabling in the unit is not good. COC would never be given for the standard of cabling done in the unit. The bathroom curtain is torn, blinds all around the unit are missing blinds and very dusty. Water pressure is very low considering the large shower. All and all it's a nice place, but things did not work. There are speakers all round for some music but no music centre. Also driveway to the unit is seriously steep and not knowing the layout of the driveway will cause you to get stuck close to the top as you need to put pedal to the metal to get up to your parking bay. Loved the view but will unfortunately not be putting this unit on my go-to-again list.
