Our traditional Cape thatched cottage is able to accommodate 2 adults in the main bedroom and 2 children in the loft above the main bedroom. With its thatch roof, which naturally hosts a few little spiders or ants and drops grass dust, this cottage is for the adventurous and young at heart.
The bedroom has a queen-sized bed, while the children's loft directly above the main bedroom has 2 single beds. Please note that there are steep steps up to the loft bedroom. The bathroom is fitted with a shower, basin, and toilet. There is a lovely hot outdoor shower too where you can shower under the stars.
The small kitchen is equipped with a fridge-freezer, microwave and small oven/stove. The sunny outdoor patio/courtyard off the kitchen has a Weber gas braai. Because of the thatch no open fires or braais are possible. The dining table has seating space for 4 people, while the lounge has a comfy couch. The TV is available for you to log in to your own Netflix. The cottage opens onto the front stoep and garden and off-street parking.
The area is a safe and quiet residential one, with a park located in front of the house with playing equipment for children. The cottage is in easy walking distance to supermarkets, shops and restaurants as well as Plett's main beaches. Guests may book their kayak trips through the owners, who live on the property, behind the cottage. We are also available to offer tips and advise you on how to have the best experience of our beautiful Plettenberg Bay.

20 guests' feedbackPeaceful, private and very comfortable.
Walking distance to everything! Friendly hostess and husband. Kayaks and more for rent from host. Everything you need for a wonderful holiday.
Can recommend with confidence.
Very comfortable self-catering cottage in a quiet area. I would suggest reading the overview notes about the staircase - I didn't need to use the staircase. I appreciated the natural light from various windows during load shedding time at sunset. There is lighting provided for load shedding time, so you won’t be in the dark. I would also suggest reading the notes in the black folder on the table on how to work the shower and various house rules. The cottage is close to the lagoon where you can swim and kayak. There is lots to do around Plett and plenty within walking distance. All shops needed are about 2 kilometers drive away. Restaurants are a short driving distance. The cottage does not have an immediate view of the lagoon or sea, but a few seconds' walk and you have a good view. In February 2024, the swimming temperature was warm. Parking is in front of the unfenced cottage, but I felt very safe during my stay.
Location is in a quiet residential area. Safe and close to the lagoon making it possible to meander. Close to other amenities as well.
Extremely quiet, tranquil and pleasant. A little bit of a minor glitch in that the hostess was en route home from a hiking trip the day I was checking in, and no one was expecting me as a result, but that was very rapidly resolved and in no time at all I was "installed". And, the hostess brought me beautiful flowers from her garden by way of apology, which I loved. The cottage is a mere 20m-30m (if that!) from the Keurbooms River lagoon, so is perfectly placed for a bit of beach time and swimming at low tide (not that I was able to experience that unfortunately). It's also very well-placed for easy access to the mall, central Plett & a variety of restaurants, and is close enough to the highway to be able to get out and explore the general area but not close enough for the highway to be intrusive. Note that the cottage is not serviced daily without prior arrangements; I personally prefer it that way but am noting it as a consideration for those to whom it might be important. Also worth highlighting (and it is in the description on the site but I'm re-highlighting it) is that the stairs leading to the loft sleeping area are extremely steep and unsuitable for very small children or older adults with mobility challenges.
Nice surroundings and close to all shops.
Beautiful lagoon within walking distance and swimming beach nearby.
Cozy little spot in a good location.
Enjoyed a pleasant stay. Was well received and the location was great. Accommodation arrangement and facilities were clean and well.
The unit is a few steps from the lagoon.
A really pleasant surprise. Stunning cottage a few meters from the lagoon! What's not to love? The cottage was super clean with everything one could need for a stay at the "beach". We did read previous reviews and yes, the stairs to the loft are a little challenging, but not enough for me to not say anything bad. Two beds up in the loft, I think is awesome. Large living space with comfy couch and Netflix a huge plus on days where you just want to sit and chill, but then again get up and walk the few meters to the lagoon and chill there is a better option.
The house is perfect for group that wants to host workshops.
Plettenberg Bay and surroundings offer so much to do and see in probably the most beautiful scenery in the country.
Good value for money, clean, cosy, had everything we needed and Netflix was an added bonus.
Thank you for your kindness, and for making us feel welcome. It was nice and close to everything.
Not as shown on add, very dangerous stairs, not elderly and children friendly. No braai area as shown on add. Toilet seat tied with cable ties. Spiders inside house. Will not visit it again.
Nice detachment; without gates, fences, security guards and screaming little kids on bikes. Too bad the house has no braai facilities. Since the house was put into use as a guest house, the owner could have already designed and implemented a practical and appropriate plan for a braai place. Can't fry pike on a gas dish. Must have barbecued in the park across the street several times. Sewage has overflowed several times in the small backyard. Absence of a stove and oven is uncomfortable. Interior design is practical, functional and spacious for 4 people. Folding furniture would have been more practical for the front porch.
