The modern kitchen is fully equipped including stove, microwave, fridge/freezer, chest freezer, dishwasher, blender, coffee machine and more, leads on to a courtyard. There is a separate laundry area with tumble dryer and washing machine and the bathroom is spacious with a large tub and shower.
In the evening, relax, or enjoy a braai or dinner on the patio. Watch the beautiful sunsets over Port Nolloth Bay and the return of the fishing trawlers and diamond dredgers after a long day at sea manoeuvring thru the port and starboard buoys in the channel heading back to the harbour. In the morning, watch the heavy-side dolphins, seals and occasional whale frolic in the waves from either the patio or from the lovely wooden boardwalk that stretches across rocks and rock pools from beach to beach.
Our beachfront home is perfectly located within walking distance 200-300 m (along the boardwalk) to restaurants and shops, but private and away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre. Enjoy walks along the long white sandy beaches, or soak up the unique history of this quaint little town. Once named Aukwatowa by the Nama people, it later became known as Robbebaai due to the abundance of seals and finally it was renamed Port Nolloth by British settlers who identified the bay as a harbour from which they could ship copper ore mined inland. Just as the Ore shipments started declining, alluvial diamonds were discovered (1926). The main industry today is marine diamond dredging, crayfishing and tourism.
Couldn’t be closer to the beach!

48 guests' feedbackIncredible getaway in a breathtaking and magnificent tranquil setting. Polka's Place No 78 has an authentic rustic beach house holiday feel, excellently laid out and equipped with all the creature comforts. The host and her staff were very friendly, considerate and thoughtful in making your stay in Port Nolloth memorable! The beach house has something for everyone to do and enjoy whether you are busy bodies like us or just want to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and beautiful nature. There are many activities like walking, MTB, swimming, sunbathing, and restaurants. The property has a large covered braai area outside on the front porch with plenty of seating and shelter for both winter and summer braai/bbq's, and that guests can enjoy their morning coffee, sandwiches or evening sundowners from. In the evening you are mesmerized by the nearby beach and golden sun sprinkled sunsets on the crashing waves. We will definitely recommend Polka's Place No 78 as a must visit for anyone who loves the outdoors or who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Can't wait to visit again very soon! Thank you for your incredible hospitality and for making our stay magical!

The house looks directly onto the sea - an incredible view. A beautiful house with everything one needs.
Nice sea view. Nice and cool in the summer.
The house was lovely, with great floors, views, and amenities (Wi-Fi ). We all loved our stay very much, and enjoyed listening to the sea bell and watching the boats going out. The only let down was that the water pump is electric, so there was no water during load shedding. This was ameliorated with a bucket, so at least the loo could be flushed.
Perfectly located. Comfortable house.
Nice holiday home for a family with plenty of sleeping space and everything you need to have a great time by the sea. Excellent location on the main street with nice patio overlooking the sea and the magnificent sunset!
The accommodation was very neat and clean. Beautiful view of the sea. Very nice stay.
The house has everything you need, except a braai area without grills.
The house is spacious with a large, deep verandah perfect for viewing the amazing sunsets over the sea. We appreciated the king-size bed in the main room and good beds and linen. With the house being a 7 sleeper, a second bathroom is definitely necessary, or even just a separate toilet and basin. We found it a challenge with 5 of us. Little touches like a hand towel, hand soap and a spare toilet roll would be helpful - 5 of us arrived after 6.00 pm after a very long car journey, to find a third of a toilet roll available! It was wonderful to have a washing machine, tumble drier (but the catch on the door needs fixing), dishwasher, large fridge, deep freezer, and gas 2-plate stove to use during loadshedding. Guests should however be advised that there is no water supply during loadshedding as the pump is electric - we were unaware of this until we needed water and there was nothing in the taps. Nice touches like rechargeable globes that still function during loadshedding, and hooks and shelves everywhere to store all the paraphernalia one brings on holiday. With 3 teens, we really struggled with no Wifi and felt that this wasn't drawn to our attention adequately at the time of booking. The host was friendly and helpful. Halfway through our stay, the house was cleaned and linen changed for which we were grateful. We were pleased to be able to bring our small dogs with us.
We felt safe and secure there. Dee was friendly and so helpful. It's a place to relax and chill.
Would go again anytime. Can take my dogs with me. Very neat and clean. And close to shops with sea view.
At first we were only going to stay 2 days, but because Polka's Place was such a nice house, we ended up staying 6 days. The house is very well furnished with everything needed.
Showering is a problem. Shower is open and causes entire bathroom floor to splash very wet.
The place is perfectly equipped, everything you need, spacious and comfortable. Perhaps the only thing that could be added is a glass window around the shower, the water spills a bit.
The house and view were very beautiful and we had everything we needed.
Polka's Place has a fantastic location with a spacious veranda for a nice visit. The kitchen is equipped with everything one needs. Dee was available for all questions - a Google pin for the Orange River Estuary at Alexander Bay, advice for best places to eat etc. I would recommend Polka's to anyone exploring the area - it was part of an unforgettable trip for our family.
Would recommend anyone to book there, they go out of their way to make sure you are happy.
I like the big porch and in the morning you can hear the waves early.
The house has everything you need, with comfortable beds and a large veranda for relaxing.
Load shedding does not matter when you can see the sunset. Beautiful!
Grill was rusted and dirty. Had to pick up rocks in the garden to put my own grill on. Chairs on the porch are low, so you stare at the wall and a bunch of flower pots. The "boardwalk" is dilapidated, many broken boards. The sea stinks. One night my braai wood and a bag of shells, which the children had picked up, were stolen.
Kitchen is poorly equipped. Disliked open shower in the bathroom.
Big house with big patio looking at the ocean.
Beautiful view of the sea and the large veranda is a bonus!
Polka's Place is a very neat house with a lot of character which is very stylish and with a lovely big veranda where we had a good time. Nice short walk to the restaurants and shops.
The covered patio offers an incredible view of the sea, the kitchen is well equipped, as are the rooms. The dining table in the living room offers a lovely place to hang out for playing games and eating together. Thank you very much for an incredibly friendly reception and help during our stay.
We had a very nice stay. House was clean and tidy with everything you need for self-catering.
We stayed here. House is spacious and excellent location with very nice views, and on the beach.
Very pleasant place to stay. Clean and spacious. Parking not secure. Beggars can become a problem, especially along the beachfront and in business centre.
Beautiful house, lovely veranda with the sea a few steps away. If I can make a recommendation, change one part of the staircase to the patio into a wheelchair-friendly entrance. I would recommend Polkas Place No 78 anytime!
The house is in Port Nolloth, not McDougals Bay.
Very clean. Everything you need for a pleasant stay. Will recommend.
The house was neat and located on the beach. The house is artistically and beautifully made. The queen size bed is nice and big and long enough for my tall husband. Als was great.
The pictures that advertise this place are nowhere near how it really is! Indescribable, neat...value for money. If you and your family want to get away, I highly recommend this place. Unfortunately we couldn't stay longer. So much to do in the area, or you just can't do anything!
This house is ideal if you just want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. If you just want to sit and look at the sea, this porch is perfect. Our two boys could play safely on the porch and we could watch the sunset while we barbecued. Everyone was happy!
Location is great.
We enjoyed our stay at Polka's Place No 78 and will stay there again if we are in the area. The sunsets are beautiful as you sit on the stoep with a view.
Very beautiful, homely place with magnificent view of the fishing boats.
Polka's Place was a lovely comfortable home with all the necessary facilities at your disposal. Hospitality and friendly assistance was also a plus.
Lovely big spacious house. The decoration is something special. One simply feels comfortable and it's convenient to be at home there. It's so wonderfully situated, you can almost feel the sea so close. Incredibly neat. I would advise anyone to stay there.
My family and I really enjoyed our stay at Polka's Place No.78 and will definitely go again. Everything was perfect and very neat. We felt at home and would have liked to stay longer. We were also very lucky to see whales.
House has everything needed. Look out at the sea. Dee is very friendly and helpful. Will stay there again.
Quiet by the sea. Great place to relax with your family or friends.
Everything was very neat and comfortable, we were very well received. There is nothing we can be dissatisfied with.
Lovely place, lovely porch for the children, beautiful sea view! However, I would recommend Mc Dougels bay beach for playing with the kids rather than Port Nolloth, which beach is very dirty.
Nice and tidy facilities and a great location.
