27 guests' feedbackThe only suggestion would be to remove the wood that is under the mattresses in the single beds upstairs, as it makes the beds so noisy.
Very nice stay. Beautiful, spacious, comfortable home. Lovely back porch.
We had a wonderful time, the kids loved the upstairs rooms.
Needed nothing more, loved the location most!
We had a wonderful stay at Poplier Huis. The hosts were incredibly helpful and quick to respond to messages. The house worked well for 3 couples and kids with a lovely garden and patio area. We loved the proximity to the centre of town so we could walk to the market, coffee shops, etc. Would definitely recommend this accommodation to anyone wanting to visit Greyton.
Poplar house is highly recommended. Beautiful home with quality furniture and appliances.
While most of our expectations were met, we found the kitchen to be understocked when it comes to pots, glassware, and bowls for food preparation. The outside area is also very muddy and caused cars to be stuck.
We had a wonderful stay at Poplier Huis, the house is lovely and spacious, with all amenities available. The fireplace was a winner in the cold weather. I would definitely recommend it. The only negative was the host had a terrible attitude but we did take that up with the owner.
The stoep and braai area is a very nice hangout area with a lot of potential, we used it, but the stoep was dirty, full of bird droppings and not mopped/swept. We cleaned ourselves. The barbecue grills need to be replaced, were dirty with previous users' burns and overall not in good condition.
I will definitely recommend or use Poplier Huis again.
I think the 5 stars say it all - a fantastic spacious cottage in the most beautiful village in the Cape!
The house was wonderfully big, we were seven people and fit in easily. Amenities were good and everything one needs. Dishwasher was a bonus.
House very nice. The two single beds in the upper room are just very noisy and this is a disturbance for persons sleeping there. All negative of the house.
The house is wonderfully spacious and very well equipped. We came to Greyton for a cycling weekend with friends. Everyone was able to stay and hang out together.
Lovely house, but stairs are narrow and steep with bannister that is not totally securely (solidly) fixed, door to balcony does not work, so have to go through bedroom door (not great walking through someone's bedroom), kitchen door cannot lock from outside. Off road parking is not secure (unlocked gate). Cutlery, crockery and particularly glassware is bargain basement (would be embarrassing to invite friends for drinks), grout in showers need cleaning, DStv not all channels. Would be nice to have at least some fire wood and instructions how to use top TV particularly. Badly placed mirror in top bedroom. No place to put suitcase if not unpacking. Also needs more than one light (only in kitchen) during load shedding as house is very dark. Portable battery operated lights would help. Please put firewood ash around lemon tree as it needs feeding.
Enough space for 2 families, nice braai area and garden.
House was very well-equipped and spotlessly clean. Within walking distance of the main road with its lovely quaint shops and superb restaurants.
This place has a large spacious lounge and dining area and an additional eating area next to kitchen. Was nice to have space to spread out. Clean and simple decor. Easy couple of blocks walk to town.
We had a great time. The house is very well furnished and everything was very tidy. Although it was cold there are enough heaters, so we slept warm. The town offers so much to do or you can just sit in the sun on the stoep. Would love to go again.
The stay was wonderful in Greyton. Close enough to busy high street to walk. Melanie was helpful with menus and recommendations for restaurants due to Covid restrictions. The house was clean, tidy and stylishly furnished. Bedding deliciously warm. Alarm also gives the extra sense of security. The porch to catch the last bit of afternoon sun, and then fireplace for when the sun goes down, was a winning combination.
Everything we needed was available in the house. The house was very neat and perfect for our 2 families with 2 children each. Enough rooms and bathrooms and a spacious living area with everything we needed for the weekend. Walking distance from town.
The house is very stylishly furnished and has everything you need for a nice relaxing weekend on Greyton. The Saturday market was fun to walk through and the restaurants are excellent.
Poplier Huis has an excellent location and close to everything in the beautiful village. The house is well equipped, we especially enjoyed the dishwasher. We were very well welcomed by Melanie and she kept us informed about restaurants etc. The only problem was the incessant barking of the neighbours' dog/dogs. It was from Friday night. We came to do the Greyton Brew Run, but it was impossible to rest in the afternoon after the run, as well as Friday evening and Saturday night. I would suggest a serious discussion with the neighbors to resolve the issue.
The house is quite spacious with a large living area and fireplace for the cold winter evenings. There is a large sliding door that goes out to the braai area with a nice large lawn. The agent who gave us the keys was very helpful and was there when we arrived. Everything was nice clean and tidy in the house, and it is located near the main street so walking distance from the restaurants and coffee shops. Definitely worth staying at Poplier Huis if you want to go to Greyton for a weekend.
On booking and immediately paying the full amount for the house that accommodates 8, we received good communication from the owner and we were looking forward to spending a weekend away with friends in this seemingly well-kitted out self-catering house. We were 4 people for 2 nights. On arrival, the appointed hostess Melanie, sent another person to meet our friends who arrived a few hours before us. Neither was she present on check-out - Melanie sent her husband to collect the key after we contacted her. It was very clear that the house had not been prepared for our arrival (or departure) - at all! This included the hot water cylinder had not been switched on, beds were not made, guest towels had not been put out, no Covid-19 sanitisation protocols in place, fridge not switched on, the fireplace still had ash in. It was evident that no cleaning had been done to prepare this property for guests - dust everywhere so bad - that we are still battling hay fever and sinus headaches. The worst probably was that the showers had not been cleaned, and two of the toilets not flushed - just unacceptable. On looking for a broom to at least sweep the dining and living area of leaves and debris, none was to be found anywhere in the house. We found clean, but stained and wrinkled bedding in a cupboard in the dining room to make up beds. The pillows had no protectors on it; the age and well worn smell and discolouration of these were nauseating. There was no explanation of the electronic security system, which caused us twice to set off the alarm by accident; the security gates can do with lubrication and was really troublesome to open. The back door could only lock from the inside, so access to the parked vehicles was from the street, around the house, only. The garden was a lovely size, but it is clear that someone was interrupted doing pruning - there were bundles of offcuts next to the hedges, the stoep had not been cleaned. I could go on, but I have better things to do with my time. In short: This was by far the worst experience we ever had! General maintenance is severely lacking in this property - sad, as it has great bones and potential. Hygiene and cleanliness is non-existing - I don't know what else to say - it was dirty. Which was as supposed to be a highlight and long anticipated weekend, turned out to be a nightmare.
What an incredibly nice weekend with the family, the house exceeded all expectations, the house offers a nice big living area where we could have a great time hanging out, playing games etc. everything was nice and clean, the arrangements around the keys etc. was very good and on time. The house is located in a very quiet area, but also within walking distance of the market, shops etc. We can recommend it for groups of up to 4 couples, as we were.
Although the house is absolutely beautiful, I was disappointed with the bedding and towels. It wasn't clean. The window of the room we slept in was also broken and the glass shards are very dangerous.
